Late again it seems. My apologies for interrupting yet another conversation...

Ok so my opinion: I think that the whole mage-templar conflict was depicted solely in black and white. And not only as - templars evil/mages good, but in that people on both sides acted and reacted in pretty extreme ways.

There were only very few exceptions (Alain for an example), and even those ended up on one side or the other by the end. And that was either by choice or association (Varric, Isabella etc..)..or just part of the game plot.

Few of those decisions even seemed a bit forced or out of character (I mean Orsino seemed like a completely reasonable alternative to Meredith - who was in my opinion a better character, not from a moral standpoint but in regards to her character development, so that her decisions were consistent with her character throughout the game - and then in the end he just went completely loco. His desperation was hinted towards the end, but still I would not expect his break down to result in that ... extreme transformation that involved killing all his beloved apprentices just as surely as any templar would. He didn't came of as that maniacal or egotistic prior to the grand event).

THAT is also the reason why I find Cullen so compelling (and well...he is really a very pretty polygon <3) - he ventures in the gray area during the final conflict. He is prepared to re-evaluate and rethink his positions, and also willing to give the other side a fair chance while he is at it. Even though he does have deep trauma and trust issues with the mages from his previous, legitimately horrifying experiences.

As this was already discussed in great detail by a bunch of people even before I decided to 'de-lurk', I won't go into too many details or lengthy explanations.

The gist of what I'm trying to say is:

1. Cullen is awesome.

2. Orsino and Meredith...not so much.

3. The whole plot was a bit skeletal, which was most probably (definitely) due to the time constraints our dear writing team had. (I'm not trying to discount everyone else involved in it though. Just speaking from a plot/character point of view)

4. Cullen is awesome...

...and also pretty

This!^

Also,your avatar is adorable! ^_^

Pshaw, that's what's so great about these games. You play them how YOU want to. It's what made me fall in love and run out and buy an xbox at the ripe old age of 30-ish.

Funnily enough, I am the opposite of you. I love writing romances of all types, gay, straight, etc. Maybe because my characters are like my babies; they're not "me." Whereas when I play RPG I like playing as a boy; it's that hidden side of me that can't come out b/c of what I am on the outside. So I guess I relate more personally to my RPG character. (But at some point they also become like my own characters; I love them like children.)

I'm not going to lie, sometimes I feel in an odd place where I identify with gay males far, far more than I do with girls of any sexuality. And I say that as a girl who doesn't think she's gay or straight or bi exactly. *scratches chin, random confession moment*

I know this isn't mentioned much but what if the straight male romance option is iron bull (hehe riding the bull)
I've actually been thinking and it seems like something one of the writers would do to troll us :P
(No one really wants Solas as a LI, they only want his thighs and ass) :D

I do wish BW would give out some concrete info on all these romances, and whatever approach they are gonna take.

I mean, BW is the one always telling us how tertiary to the experience the romances are, how side content-y it is. Yet, they turn around and get all precious abt it.

For me, the toughest part of the pro-templar playthrough is the final decision at the start of the Last Straw, when you have to choose a side for the final battle. I always feel like I didn't get the options that explained why I was really being pro-templar. I finally found a certain path through the menus where I could say I was trying to limit the casualties for all involved and save the city... but at that point I have a hard time siding with Meredith for most of the reasons they offer up.

I sided with the templars when Carver was a templar. I hated it - Meredith was invoking the Annulment because of Anders, who wasn't even a part of the Circle system anymore! It was so unfair, but I didn't want to fight the only family my Hawke had left. Cullen was shining like diamonds in that episode though :) Saved some lives from his crazy boss.

Siding with the templars during the Last Straw kind of does seem evil, because you make innocent mages suffer. But then you find out that Orsino and Quentin were friends, and Orsino basically uses the same magic that killed Leandra. And then it stops looking like black and white. Kirkwall is just doomed. No matter what you do - it's doomed. (I hope Cullen got out of there fast!)

Heee. It just hit me again that we actually to romance that guy.  No more (just) awkward staring!

hahaha LIKE!

Yep I'm out of likes...yet again...

Being an optimistic creature I like to believe that the writers are aware of the fact that Cullen fandom indeed does not consist of solely straight females, but that it has a tutti frutti flavour/consistency. LOL what did I just say? I feel like Merill now, hopping that it doesn't sound to dirty.

Anyway...that we are a diverse crowd, and that it has always been thus. So due to this all hard-core scientific evidence I say, Cullen is most probably (hopefully) bi.

And I think I'm done massacring English for the day... ^_^

aww thank you ^_^

My cat just had 'fresh batch' of kittens, so It's my duty to cuddle them until they are fluffy and socialized by the time they get new owners. A very dangerous job, I kid you not.

Their cuteness can be deadly... ;)

Also that is a really gorgeous picture of our dear templar
