All the chantry LI males we've gotten have been straight, since he's always been fond of the female warden.

I'd be surprised if he'll end up bi. I don't mind since it'll make it easier to decide which pc I'll play.

Beardy is hawt, but Cullen is, well, Cullen! I have thought about him and written about him and dreamed about him for years now. I love his character, his story, his growth, everything. I will be truly depressed and heart broken if I can't romance him with my intended quizzy. I may not even buy the game I need to know more details before release... give it to me, BW!!

It is exactly this idea that makes me think that Cullen will be bisexual. The other characters look really great and it's fun to imagine what they will be like, but Cullen is an established character with an established and diverse fan base. We KNOW how much we love the guy! There's more likelihood for disappointment if people can't romance Cullen compared to someone else. Unless they have a compelling reason not to, I think they'll make him bisexual. That's my hope, anyway. I'm a straight woman and I tend to play that way on my first playthrough and most others, but I want Cullen and Cullenites to get as much love as possible!

Edit: Looks like I just said basically the same thing as someone else.

I still wonder if Dorian will be a LI at all (if he is Dorian) because I suspect that he'll be the carry-over companion to the next game if the next game deals with Tevinter.

Yeah, that's a good point. There's no REASON to make him straight (that we're aware of at present). So if they're just arbitrarily making some characters straight, some bi, and some gay, does it really matter who? At least make the character who has the most fans available to all. No reason to make him straight and upset a whole bunch of people.

I'm fairly convinced at this point that 2/2/2 is a thing. Every character will have a set sexuality, and Cullen (straight) and DHMG (gay) will be the male human love interests.

If 2/2/2 isn't happening, I'm not sure what to expect. Cullen could be an extra 5th romance like Sebastian, and the only NPC one.

Its already been said that some comp will be strait, some bi, and some gay. As far as Cullen is concerned I understand that everyone would like him to be bi but in DAO I think hhe was strait so I don't know if they will change him to make him bi or not. Guess we will see.

Hm, I hope for these LIs:

 

Cullen - bi

Varric - straight

DHMG - gay

 

Scribe Girl - bi

Cassandra - straight

Sera - gay

 

And I'm really not sure that both DHMG and Solas will be LIs. They're both male mages. We always got an elf, but that's because we always only got humans and elves as LIs. But they have options for a Qunari or dwarf LI, so I don't know. However it still seems to be the most likely scenario.

 

Didn't they say there will be less romance exclusive content and more content for the normal friendship? Am I remembering that wrong? I'm not sure anymore what they really said and what was only speculation.

 

Well, no matter what, we got Cullen! Hopefully for female and male Inquisitors, so that everyone will be happy

This is what I'm thinking, personally. As much as I want DHMG to be bi, I think he'll be gay. I think Cullen will be straight and Solas bisexual. I'm really unsure about Cass but I think she'll be bisexual. Could be the two "straight" options are the NPCs. But we're assuming SG is a LI. We don't know that yet. Maybe Cullen is the only advisor romance?

I'm wondering if romanceable NPCs will be the straight options simply because they most likely have less resources allotted to them, inevitably. So my guess of a 2/2/2 lineup would be:

Males:
Straight - Cullen
Gay - DHMG
Bi - Solas/Varric (Varric is a long shot, but still more likely than IB, I think)

Females:
Straight - SG
Gay - Sera
Bi - Cassandra

That said, I also wonder if it won't be an even breakdown and instead some restrictions are based on race or class rather than gender. Or an even sexual orientation breakdown AND race and/or class who knows?

I think that what gives Cullen an extra shot as being the bisexual romance is the fact that he's (probably) a non-companion. The general tone around the forum is that NPC romances are bad, and I think more people would kick up a fuss if, say, straight female Inquisitors had 2 NPC romances and 1 Companion romance, or if straight Inquisitors only had 1 Companion romance, while gay Inquisitors had 2 Companion romances.

I honestly don't think that they'll give straight males and females one LI i the party and homosexuals two LI, while leaving the non-Follower as the straight one. An equal division (straight and gay in party, bisexual outside), seems more likely and 'fair'.

Yeah I'm not sure why people are thinking he's going to be coded straight. He's probably the only male NPC romance. Now, there is precedence with Sebastian, but that didn't even feel like a real romance. I have no earthly idea why he was arbitrarily made straight (and there was no DLC straight female option).
