eeeeeeeeeeeh but that cancels out when he says something during the pro-templar playthrough

Look, I'm not trying to start a debate even though, well, it's already started.. but every character has flaws, that's why they're a character. To turn a blind eye at them and simply blame this that and the other, completely takes away from it. I've started to like Cullen within the past couple weeks but I'm not going to purposely act oblivious to his faults in previous games. That's asinine.

I'm not saying he should've started an investigation, or what ever else is being said in any of your posts. What I'm saying, and I'll make it perfectly clear this time;

if he could have said that when the Champion chose to help Meredith extinct Kirkwall Mages, he could have said something when Orsino offered a peaceful option or at any other time, besides when he decided Meredith killing Hawke was going to far.

I don't expect him to have stopped it, I expected him to have the compassion that he did in an alternate ending.

and that's all I've left to say on this.

Uh I don't think if get it.. or if you got me but I was saying that about his personality and I think he's too passive and should have done something.
I think his passivity and dutifulness just shows in that scene too by him being just quiet and letting Meredith and Hawke decide on everything and I was trying to say his personality was like that in DA2 in my opinion and I was thinking why he was like that too ^^; What I mean is that I agree that he should have said something.

Ww-ww...oow... I think I just found my favorite one. (Warning: Shirtlessness. Hope that's allowed??)

He looks like he's seriously contemplating why he was cursed with such good looks. Poor guy...

It's probably also worth stating that links like this are fine. The first, BTW, is by our very own Adela, and the second from our very own JerHopp.

However, if you're going to posts actual images, pleasepleaseplease ensure that the artist's name is associated with the pic and ideally a link to the artist's page. We strongly believe in making sure the original artists continue to get credit for their work in this day and age of Google images.

you're right! if you don't see him not speaking up as you refuse to help behead bunches of people that had nothing to do with an incident as not being a flaw, then so be it ^_^

Here's David Mitchell explaining it.

This is brilliant! I need to push this video on all my social channels. :D

I made some videos awhile back with Cullen as a love interest in DAO.  Obviously I had to make up the story.  Never thought we would actually get a chance to romance him.  I really hope he's a companion.  He has such great potential for a character!

And this is Where I step in...

None is denying that Cullen has his flaws as a character, but so far he doesn't strike me as the type that enjoys killing mages,my opinion...
And now Please let's end it before this thread turns into a templarsvsmages debate,It will be  a pity if it get's locked up.Hopefully we'll get the opportunity to learn more about his thoughts and feelings about the Kirkwall incident in inquisition...

As a Cullen fangirl (maker those eyes! uwu) I agree with what you've been saying in terms of him saying something :/ I was disappointed too. I also think some fans don't admit to flaws and then that makes us all as a group look bad but we aren't all like that! A lot of us aren't! I don't think you were assuming we were but I just wanted to let you know (just in case ^_^)

Well, if he is a Companion at least we know who the strong Pro-Templar one will be. Let's see:

Pro-Templar: Cullen

Pro-Chantry: Cassandra

Pro-Circle: Vibienne

Pro-Apostate: Solas

Sound about right?

And this is where I duck out for a spell, because having someone dismiss an argument and twist what I said to mean something complete different so they can pretend I said something completely unreasonable is just infuriating.

I don't think we even know what "pro-templar" means in a post-Nevarran Accord world, though.

They'd be the one who followed Lambert's train of thought and broke away from the Chantry.

Yes, the point of the discussion thread being here is not to change someone's mind if they think the templars are fundamentally wrong in their management of the Circles. Nor is it to continue to stereotype an entire group of fans about their opinion of a character.

Perhaps, but we don't know that for sure though...He might be among those who remained loyal.

Which, WoT tells us, is not all the templars. Nor do we know which group Cullen belongs to.

as for the moderation... i don't think Cullen's opinion on mages changed during DA2. i mean, look at his dialogue regarding Alain in Best Served Cold. he's, to put it lightly, distrustful. he doesn't seem hateful tho, he simply see mages as prisoners who he's sworn to guard.

Why would he belong in the same group as Cassandra though?

The only way he would is if he is only an NPC and not a companion.

It was never meant to turn into a "mage/templar" debate, nor continuing to "stereotype" fans, it was purely about his character, I have no interest in a mage/temp debate. I have my usual people to do that with. I probably shouldn't have said the character flaw thing, and I get that, but this is a constant trend for people in this fandom as a whole, if you insult the character or say something negative, you get 4 or 5 people coming at you lmao. I mean.. ?

Idk why it's still even being talked about tbh

@Hina I'm p sure he'll wind up being a companion after yesterday.

Maybe we can't use those phrases anymore? It will rather be pro-old order. Because Chantry, Templar and Circle are linked hard. (Were)

If you are pro Circle you are also pro Chantry and pro Templar. Right? It goes three ways.

Ignore them. You have just as much right to express your concerns about Cullen on the Cullen thread as they do to praise him.

Pro-Circle could simply mean you support the idea of a system that educates mages. It doesn't need Templars or Chantry involved.

I agree. I'm sure his opinion of the need for the Circle is probably the same. But I would say his approach to how a Circle is run is probably moderate after seeing the extremes of both sides. What I'm curious to see is how those views further evolve when there are no Circles anymore. How does  he deal with mages when technically every mage is an apostate. Interesting times.

Exactly. ^_^  I think that has always been a fatal flaw in guesses that he would be companion, because he's likely still very similar to Cassandra.
