To be fair though, Eric, academic writing differs from writing in journalism. For the record, as a writing major, "on the road to alpha" contradicts "content complete"...
who da fuq writes this?
If I used a "personal blog" in ANY paper, my professors would light it on fire and throw the ashes in my face!

Fair point. It's similar to how Lady Insanity's blog was used as a viable source. But, as you said, I don't think this article was written particularly well and the info drawn from the blog drew some contradictory conclusions.
Ashe is a fan; her blog isn't a good source. You want information "direct from the horse's mouth" so to speak, mainly from developers. So blogs and tweets by DG and ML are perfect. Blogs, tweets, and YT videos by fans, not so much.

Not really. Quality journalism should be right up there with academic writing; after all, academics sometimes cite the work of good journalists depending on the topic.
It's just that the state of journalism, especially gaming journalism, has gone downhill so rapidly lately.

Another article...
He starts cursing in the third paragraph, so I stopped reading... this is not journalism; it's like some gamer boy's blog post lol Sheesh! *shakes head*
But that's okay, I guess. It's when the big ones, the real mags (like GameSpot, GameInformer, etc.) screw things up that I get annoyed.

Lemme get a little ranty pants.
Keep in mind that a lot of these "journalists" really are just kids who acted up on Twitter enough to get the website's attention and blammo, suddenly they're a "reporter." I had a company come to me yesterday and ask that I do this kind of thing for them. I'm a writer, yeah, but I'm no journalist. I'd look pretty dang foolish. Looking at their information packet was pretty eye-opening. No experience needed, you've just got to have some sort of following that the website can leech off of. And the compensation is paultry with just about any website out there. They demand a lot from their writers, too. So you've basically got Mountain Dew-high fanboys twirling about in circles under tight deadlines and no real motivators. They're going to get their information from the easiest places possible and not really put a lot of effort into what they do.
And then you get these crap articles.

Haven't even opened the link. There's no point unless the article actually has new information. Fans like Lola and Gamermd are far better and more reliable for broadcasting the word of devs and seperating fact from rumour from speculation.
Agreed.

Hugging Tali in ME2 is still my favorite interrupt. I would love something like that again.
I really hope we get the opportunity to give Cullen hugs! He's a guy who could desperately use some hugging, whether from a lover or from a friend.
I also hope we get the chance to see him happy and relaxed sometimes. He deserves that, especially after all the crap he's been through.

Hah yeah they are pretty adorable kids. I like how Charlotte was all "Dude, I can say thank you on my own, yo." lol
Anyway I didn't mean to derail the thread- just know some of you don't follow me on twitter or facebook and wanted to make sure you saw the video!
I promise I'll stop fundraising after Sunday. ![]()

Unfortunately I think it was a bit of a marketing ploy to get people to buy the World of Thedas book and the ME equivalent. All the clues came from there. Not sure what the prize is/was.
