So at the Q&A today, is Ashe asking whether Cullen will be a companion or whether it's 3/3/3? Because if she can get Cullen confirmed, I think it would answer the 3/3/3 thing as well as alleviate/exacerbate other concerns about the other companions and their romances.

Huh, that's an interesting notion! Although I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around the degree to which Hawke or the Warden will feature in DAI.
What do you want to bet that's another thing they'll let us find out about through playing?

I wouldn't mind if it was just an off hand remark, like an apostate turning to blood magic, reasoning the Warden/Hawke did so it's fine for me.

I wonder... If he's a regular companion, I would expect they would just answer "yes." If he's somehow the first DA non-party based NPC romance...? I bet they remain mysterious and wait to explain that one with proper pomp and circumstance at some later time T.

If they won't answer the companion question, then the thing I want is a screenshot of him in game.  Now that he's been officially dubbed an LI, it seems a reasonable next step.  AND I JUST WANT IT SO BAAAAAAAD.   :P

NPC romance shows most likely now I guess but I still keep hope for him being companion since that's like most important point to me. I want to drag him along. He was kinda NPC romance in DAO and major NPC in DA2.. now I want more ^^; But the speculations really are ongoing. I have even seen people thinking if Cullen is rogue in DAI ^^; I just hope Bioware would clear this up soon..

Man, I hope there's info before I head to bed, then. Just looking at how this thread has moved I almost expect we'll be at page 200 by the time I wake up.

I've never got involved with any of the Cullen discussions beyond showing an interest in how he'll develop after his experiences in both Ferelden and Kirkwall, but I feel like I should give Cullen-fans some fair warning.

He's been placed on a very high pedestal by so many that it's impossible for Bioware to make him everything every Cullen fan wants him to be. He may develop in a way, or react to the events in Inquisition in a way that fans don't expect, and we may not get everything we expect.

I'm reasonably sure that no matter what happens, some fans are going to be unhappy simply because Bioware can't fulfill all expectations.

I wonder if the Keep will let them bring back some reactivity to Hawke, (and even the Warden's) specialisations.

Hmm,I hope so I imagine Twould be quite the scandal is people knew that both Hero of ferelden and Chappion of Kirkwall are blood mages...I like scandals!

I know we might seem demanding, but it's only because we love him. We're just glad to have him in the game. For many of us, that's more than we had originally anticipated.

It's really hard for me to believe that not only would they confirm that Cullen is a LI, but to also confirm if he's a companion or not so soon. I don't think they'll confirm anything about Cullen until his follower friday.

The following was stated this weekend. So I just doubt they would answer that particular question at today's Q & A.:

User

@Mike_Laidlaw @bioware @davidgaider If Cullen was announced as a romance, why can't we know if he's a companion or just an NPC?

David Gaider ‏@davidgaider  4h

@User @Mike_Laidlaw @bioware Just because we give some info, doesn't mean we give *all* the info. Sorry, but more will come in time.

I also think that if it is truly 3/3/3 it will still not answer the question considering the unknown status of the bearded grey warden.

I think the same can be said for every character?

I can't speak for every Cullen fan, but I don't have any concrete ideas or headcanons for him. I have speculation and have tossed around ides like any fan of any character has, but I certainly won't rage if my speculation is proven wrong. That's all it is, after all, speculation and discussing.

I don't think the majority of Cullen fans will?

Every batch of fans has their extremists and the like and nothing can be helped there, but I think the sane ones will be okay. That can be said for everyone around the BSN, though.

Edit: When it comes down to it, the unreasonable flamers are often a very, very loud minority.

Exactly, and I doubt there is anything anyone could "warn" us about that we have not already speculated about and discussed among ourselves.  ^_^

I can't speak for the Cullen fans outside of our thread(s) but the majority of us in here are pretty chilled when it comes to what his story arc will be like. I mean, we've pretty much speculated every possible outcome (from good to bad) just to give us something to talk about so whatever they do won't come as a surprise at all, lol.

Of course, there will always be some crazies in every fandom but that's to be expected, lol.

I know, but I know from experience here on the forums that the Forum can be quite fickle.

Kind of like the ME3 section, leading up to the game's release, everyone was happy that it was going to be here, then the game was released and there was massive fan rage, some demanding an complete retcon of the whole ending, and even a few fans were demanding the resignation of Bioware employees, and I saw some people even said one of the writers deserved to die, and when Casey Hudson and others came in and tried to talk to the fans, they were called liars point-blank, fans refused to listen to what they had to say, and when the Mass Effect devs stopped talking to fans, fans said they were pouting. And when they announced they were extending the ending for free, they were still criticized because it wasn't a retconned ending.

It's why I stopped posting in the Mass Effect section. It was too poisonous an environment that you couldn't make any reasonable statement without being attacked.

I'm just saying that I'm hoping the same thing doesn't happen here. Cullen seems like a really cool guy. He's experienced the worst of blood mages and served under the worst of templars. His development will be fascinating to see.

I know it's been more or less confirmed he's romanceable, but how many fans will rage if he's not playersexual and is strictly hetero? Or vice-versa?

But yeah, Cullen is a cool guy, but I've seen so many Cullen threads (this is the third version on the new forum) and while very popular, it is impossible for him to be everything for everyone.

But yeah, based on the latest comments that have been posted while I've been writing this, I have a lot more hope that DA fans are more reasonable than ME fans.  :D
