Aren't dragons...well some of them, old gods? So maybe one chooses the Inq for something special. Hmmm....
Well 7 main Old Ones. But from what ancient texts say, there might have been some lesser known deities that were just as powerful.

On the box art... I was thinking that that's just their way of creating continuity with the old box art by including the dragon logo. But the dragons on the armor, the dragon taming and riding etc. do suggest some connection, along with the cryptic old dragon stuff from the comics. I do hope they explain the latter... without adding more dragony special snowflake to the Inquisitor.

If the dragons are deities...

Very good point, my lady. We have no proof that the underground dragons are even the true "Old Gods".
Maybe the Inquisitor is the dovahkiin has dragonblood in their veins. ![]()
I'm drawn back to the last conversation (that we saw, anyway) Flemeth had with Hawke. She said to them, "you could never be a dragon." Maybe the Inquisitor is the dragon she may be possibly looking for? Or a "dragon" in general? ![]()

I think she meant that the shapeshifting magic she uses to become a dragon is unique to her.
And she might have a guest appearance in my fic too.... ![]()

I live about 5 minutes away from one.
You are mean.
I'm thinking, maybe this 'dragon' came from or caused the tear in the Veil. And Inq happens to be there, gets bestowed somehow or fused with this power by the dragon. By accident, on purpose or whatever. Dragons are drawn to the Veil being torn open, that's why they'll probably show there and maybe, they'll be drawn to us.

Or maybe, if you're a mage, you're not as old and powerful. Not to mention, doesn't she have a bond with a demon or spirit of some sort. And if you're not a mage, well then it's just impossible.

Ummmm, Morrigan outright tell us in Witch Hunt that Flemeth is no demon or abomination, and is not truly human.

And, honestly, I can't tell what I'd prefer. DG has told us that dragons aren't sentient... so that seems to suggest that the dragons that become Archdemons have to be different in some way (unless the taint suddenly makes them thinky...). So even if they're just dragons they must be special somehow.
I suppose I do hope they're the Old Gods of legend. My pet theory is that somehow they're creatures of the Fade, i.e. some of the Maker's First Children, as described by the stricken verses of the Chant. That that's what Yavana it talking about when she mentions the dragons who lived "before the Veil."
Silence 3
The Old Gods will call to you,
From their ancient prisons they will sing.
Dragons with wicked eyes and wicked hearts,
On blacken'd wings does deceit take flight,
The first of My children, lost to night.
-Silence 3:6, Dissonant Verse

Ummm, huh? Dragons are magical creatures yes, but we have never ever had a connection between them and the Veil's tearing.
As for the Veil tearing, I think it still has to do with all the lyrium in that mountain.
Makes me wonder, will we somehow get our power from a dragon?
The dragon is just on the cover because of Dragon Age. Same reason the blood smears of Origins and DA2 made dragons.

Er, or that. ![]()
I took what she said as more... Philosophical than literal though. That entire conversation was drenched in it.

I believe the Old Gods, whoever they are, are primordial creatures (of the Fade or perhaps deities of the Earth/Thedas itself) that chose to take the shape of dragons to be worshipped by ancient civilizations. Now, whether or not these powerful beings are indeed Archdemons is still certainly up for debate.
Er, or that.

Oh definitely. She always speaks in riddles and metaphor, which is why I love her character.

Not yet. If it ends up that some are old gods and running ramped, could explain things a bit. And the Veil tearing could very well be because of the Lyrium, would make sense. But I'm just thinking there might be more to it.

Oh, I do agree that the dragons popping up is related to the Veil tears given what Yavana said. It's simply the nature of the relationship that I question.
"Your heart beats with the old blood, as well. Where do you think it comes from? It sings of a time when dragons ruled the skies. A time before the Veil, before the mysteries were forgotten. Can you hear it?"
Sorry to interrupt awesome dragons talk (DRAGONS) but I figured that some would be interested in this:

Can the inquisitor have family??
Mark Darrah @BioMarkDarrah
As in marriage etc...? No.
So no marrying Cullen. Understandable, since we have a world to save and all. ![]()
I want to know more about Dumat, if anything. He comes off as the clear de facto "leader" of the Old Gods.
Also more about The Stone too. We know the least about dwarven religion by far.

God of Silence...he interests me, especially because of his altar that is still transmitting power as well as Corypheus gaining power from "him" during the boss battle.

Whoa. That's rather more definitive than I would've expected. So, no little Cullens, huh? Fade explosion makes us sterile. #semiconfirmedrumor *shakes fist at BW*

Can't stop the headcanon, though! Save the world, then marry Cullen. ![]()
