I've never got involved with any of the Cullen discussions beyond showing an interest in how he'll develop after his experiences in both Ferelden and Kirkwall, but I feel like I should give Cullen-fans some fair warning.
He's been placed on a very high pedestal by so many that it's impossible for Bioware to make him everything every Cullen fan wants him to be. He may develop in a way, or react to the events in Inquisition in a way that fans don't expect, and we may not get everything we expect.
I'm reasonably sure that no matter what happens, some fans are going to be unhappy simply because Bioware can't fulfill all expectations.
I have mentioned something similar in another thread concerning the "Cullen fanservice". Heck, I am of the believe that Varric is in a similar situation. It is very difficult to meet the expectations of super fans of a particular character without some ending up hugely disappointed. I much rather only see new characters as love interests and/or companions so you can't "hurt" the feelings of anyone if a character turns out differently than expected. My stance also involves not telling too much about new companions as not to set any expectations about them either. I think a part of the backlash to games lately is due to giving out way too much information before release.
