I personally like his new look so far. He's handsome either way.

On a more serious note... there are so many freaking spoilers in the thread, for so many different but generally undisclosed reasons, that I almost never click on spoiler tags anymore.
So here's something I've been thinking about. We've talked about how our Inquisitor might deal with Cullen-as-house-husband, but how will he deal with it? More seriously, how would he deal with being somewhat sidelined as an 'advisor' or general or person-behind-the-scenes as opposed to being out in the field protecting and battling and whatnot? Is he well suited for it? Would he think he's well suited for it? Thoughts?

I don't think he'd cope well. Cabin fever. Or the feeling of being caged up once more. However, I guess it all depends on what's going on as well. Maybe he won't want to be seen helping depending on the situation. I think he'd go stir crazy and regret not being able to be part of the battle though.

I think that he might hate it, and he would want to be part of the action... specially if blood mages are involved, I see him as the kind of person who wants to restore order , and wouldn't agree with our inq if he/she were to let a bunch of blood mages free... he would def have a strong reaction to that as I consider him to still be a lil "paranoid" about stuff like that
Well I don't think he ever was one for gallivanting off around the world, hence his career as a Templar in the Circles. Besides, he'll have plenty to keep him busy at home if he's a military advisor, maybe even leading the odd battle?
This. I think as long as every morning he gets to put on armor and do something that he thinks serves the Maker, he's happy. And as those here who were fans of the NPC romance idea before we were pretty sure that's what we were getting have noted, I don't think he'll be baking muffins or "flying a desk". I wonder if we'll ever get back to a Keep to find that he's off somewhere at the moment (was it R2's micro-fic where that happened?).
EDIT: I didn't want to make a separate post for this but since I have a post about something else now: I think all the attention that DMHG fanart is getting is obscuring how great that Solas fanart is!! Definitely my favorite of him so far.

I think this is hard to say. Sure, not gallivanting, but not just pushing papers or standing around the Gallows (*cough*gameplay*cough*). He was, after all, the one off tailing Wilmod and confronting him in the middle of no where, alone. He's also at the head of the templars showing up to deal with Thrask and Grace. So, he does still seem to be in the middle of the actiony things.

I also agree with this, tho. I guess I was imagining it like many professions, that as you move up the ranks and take on more of a leadership role, your job merely becomes more bureaucratic and that's just the way it is. I could imagine him thinking what he's doing is a perfectly good use of his talents and duty to the Maker... but that he still sorta misses the odd mission. I also imagine him being quite good at it, but not admitting that.
I also prefer that he's not standing around the Keep courtyard all day long (*cough*not*gameplay*reasons*again*cough*) in DA:I, but off doing his own thing and having a life. Dunno if it was my 100 word fic or not
but I'm brazen enough to use it as an example again.
OK, enamored of my own prompt, I wrote another in the shower this morning. Loving the 100 word limit (*shakes fist at 100 word limit*).
Homecoming by R2s Muse
There is no welcome waiting for the Inquisitor when she wearily dismounts in the courtyard. He's in a meeting that's run late, she is told.
The council chamber is deserted, but his chair is still warm. He's escorting the Nevarran ambassador, they say.
The Great Hall is empty. The ambassador has just departed, the Seneschal explains.
She retreats alone to her chambers at last. The final piece of armor clatters to the floor when large hands slip over her eyes. Warm lips press to the nape of her neck. "I missed you," Cullen murmurs against her skin.

Idk. Tbh, the whole idea that Cullen is some new fangled DA npc...thing makes me wanna puke.
sorry.
In other news, I'm sure Cullen will be just fine playing house husband. He'll be written that way.

I think it would depend on several things, maybe. Or rather, the most important thing, honestly, is *why* is he left behind-What is he *doing*? Like if he's in an active military leadership position-is he overseeing training, reading dispatches, inspecting troops? Basically, is he keeping busy?
I always feel like Cullen might retreat into routine-military discipline, or whatever, as his touchstone/comfort zone/whatever. The military machine of the Chantry is all he's known in at least his adult life. I think he might throw himself into that if he's worried about or missing our Inquisitor, you know?
