You're right, he might have remained loyal to the Chantry. I was still thinkig in the case he's a companion (in this case I don't think he remained with the Chantry).

Well he either got kicked out, lost his faith in the order and went rogue or remained a templar loyal to the chantry...I wouldn't like to see him join the templars who followed Lambert and rebelled but you never know.

I'd really like to see Cullen with less faith in the templars, but that's just because I favor more moderate characters.

Well, maybe we just guessed wrong and either Iron Bull or Grey Warden fills the military advisory spot that some theorized Cullen would fill.
If recent articles are to be believed, the Iron Bull is a confirmed companion. Also, the Grey Warden companion was seen as a party member in the Game Informer cover back in last year.
Things could have changed and been misinterpreted, but I still heavily believe Cullen to be an adviser but has a significant role in Inquisition.

As for the 3rd mage, everything inside me screams Finn. IF Viv and Solas aren't healers we would need one that was actually very content on being locked up in the Circle and he was pretty much sn expert on the Eluvians, but I extremely doubt it since he was a companion already. Just wishful thinking.

Yeah, the Iron Bull confirmation wasn't up yet when I wrote that. Now it's down to Cullen and Grey Warden, basically. It isn't looking great for Cullen as a companion, though, you're right. Hopefully if he's an NPC romance, he'll be better handled than the ME3 offerings.

it's my understanding that there was a lot of confusion with translations and what not - Iron Bull as a mercenary with his own army seems more likely to be a military adviser and possibly a temporary companion. At least to me! Though I still think he may be a rogue.
