I guess it would depend on what and where the final battle is.

It's entirely possible that Cullen could be there with his troops or whatever and we'd get to run over and say goodbye before we go into battle. Or maybe he'll be allowed to come with us? Or be one of the npcs that pops in to help if one of your companions gets knocked out, like in DA2 where Zev, Donnic and a few others would step in to help if some of the party got knocked out in combat against Meredith.

Whatever it is, let's hope they handle it better than they did with the ME3 NPC/ME2 romances, cos if I have to say goodbye to Cullen via a sending stone I shall not be best pleased!

If they do this to us, I will weep more vengeful tears than even DG''s well of weeping can contain.  :(

Hmmm, I'm tempted to believe that the final battle will occur on the other side of the enormous veil tear, so perhaps Cullen and others hold back the hordes, while we try to seal the damn thing?

I like this idea. Could be a hell of an ending if you end up full of emotions not knowing if he survived the battle with the hordes as you went on.

Edit: Of course I would hope that you actually find out in the end and it not be a cliff hanger. I'd probably be crushed

I hope any "final goodbyes" will have more oomph to them than ME3 did for me.

I found Kaidan's to be lacking, but Garrus' gave me the most feels, in my opinion.

... I... I don't know. I mean, there were some feels, but it just felt so lacking to me.

Not bad by any means, but it was just how I felt after beating the game the first time. I think his extended cut scene was the most heartbreaking though, if that helps.

Oh my bad. I meant his goodbye during the evacuation scene. I actually have only played through ME3 using the extended cut.

Alright, I don't mean to repeat myself but I don't think you all had a fair chance to see what I have made. It was my first post with the new forums and by the time a moderator accepted my post, this thread was already some odd pages ahead, leaving my little tributes buried. So just in case none of you have seen this. ;w;

I was talking about his first "goodbye" scene, the one that you have before you start the final battle. That's the one I felt was somewhat lacking.

Gut says romance goodbyes will be handled like either Traynor's where you say goodbye slightly earlier or he'll be standing around with the party like DA2.

I'm neutral on an NPC romance. Good writing will make the romance seem vibrant. If whoever is writing him makes Cullen seem like a fully fleshed out character then the romance will follow. I romanced Samantha and she made more of an impression than Liara. If the romance is bad, it'll be bad for other reasons than NPC status per se. I romanced Sebastian. Voluntarily. I'm really good at borrowing non-romance content and using it to strengthen the romance in my head.

Of course if I follow my ME trajectory, I'll end up adoring Cullen, wishing the Inquisitor could be set on fire, and shipping Cullen with Cass, Dorian, and Vivienne. Shutting up now.

Okay - so we wanted to get y'alls opinion on two questions:

What do the Cullenites look forward to the most with Cullen's role in DA:I?

And their biggest concern?

1. I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to delve deeper into Cullen's origins and seeing how that combined with his experiences in the first two games has shaped his personality and opinions in Inquisition.
2. Biggest concern is pretty much the same as what everyone else has said, that in being an NPC rather than a party member his development and romance will be given less attention than those of the party members. The NPC romances in ME3 weren't good (on my first play through I didn't realise I was accidentally romancing Samantha until she was in my shower...) so I'm hoping things will be a lot better in Inquisition.

The Samantha shower scene was so silly.  I'm also ridiculously slow on the uptake, though.  When she came over and was talking about how great it must be to have a shower, I just thought 'cool, go and use mine then, I don't mind.'  Then I was left sitting their thinking 'shut the damn door Samantha' while Shepherd leered at her showering in her knickers!

It was just wrong.  Is it just me or do others offer showers to their hygienically challenged mates without sexual overtones?

I loved that scene, it was done really well and that line, 'I can't lose you again'.....

I think it's one of those things a lot of people don't realize they have. The infamous test is of course being able to watch a youtube video of that abomination of nature the Surinam toad...I knew I had some kind of trypophobia after that  *please no one post an image of it!*

When I was much younger deep water in video games used to freak me out. Don't laugh but I couldn't do the Jolly Roger Bay level in Mario 64 because of the eel and how far you had to make Mario swim under water

Now it's just horror games that really scare the crap out of me, can't play them unless it's 2-player!

you've just added to my nightmare materials   and I've got an essay and annotated bibliography to write. :crying:

That was how she ensnared me too, I thought I was just doing something nice for a crew member who didn't have a fancy cabin like mine! It wasn't until the option to join her popped up that I realised what was happening.

ikr, they have some really bad indicators...me1 I ended up having the titanic steamy car scene with Sha'ira because I was trying to be renegade and assumed 'That's it?' was an affront to the tacky gift lol

I was as oblivious as Shepard when it happened my first game.

I do this every playthrough now.

That's what was so good about Zevran's romance.  He was blatant about wanting to jump you, you really couldn't mix up those messages!  I romanced Leliana so many times trying to be friendly to the woman and then got stuck not wanting to hurt her feelings - she's so sweet and I don't want her to be upset but Alistair!

I...have yet to successfully romance Al. Inclined to harden him, willing to kill Loghain, and willing to do the DR is a pretty hard ccombo. I feel like I'm completing a checklist. One of a few reasons I prefer a male Warden, even if Hawke's almost always female.

I'm partial to the idea that Cullen is basically our general and leads the Inquisition's troops. The Inquisitor and companions are more like a special forces strike team. :P

This would allow Cullen to be on the field for an emotional farewell before the final battle... and also, if I may be so bald bold, leave open the possibility that he can be a temporary companion during a mission or two?

I thought that too, especially when she pulls the same stunt in Citadel with the hot tub with no door. That hot tub scene was awkward enough if you're not romancing her as FemShep, but was so awkward with Male Shep it ended up being absolutely frigging hilarious.

Mark Meer completely nailed the sheer bizarreness of that scene, having that tone of quiet desperation as he was forced to engage in a conversation when what he really wants to do is scramble out of the door. 'Specially because if you befriend her as Male Shep, their interaction comes across almost like an older brother and little sister...

Yeah, Shep probably needed a lot of brain bleach after that.

Yeah, I think that this is the best possible outcome for NPC adviser Cullen but I'm greedy and I wish he was going to be a constant companion follower.  I hope we get something in the way of ambient dialogue though - I don't want to feel resentful every time companions chatter together, thinking 'it's not fair, you could have been Cullen!'

ikr? I...Idk. I mean, maybe it's just sum old DA2 concept? But why would he release the ish now? Maybe it's nothing but it is odd.

And tbh, that guy walking looks like Cullen to me. With the furry/feathery stole thing. That don't look like a Hawke to me....I'll have to examine it more lol!>.>
