Yeah, I think that this is the best possible outcome for NPC adviser Cullen but I'm greedy and I wish he was going to be a constant companion follower.  I hope we get something in the way of ambient dialogue though - I don't want to feel resentful every time companions chatter together, thinking 'it's not fair, you could have been Cullen!'

"Of all things thing you say none of your words are even half as good compared to what could have been CULLENS BANTER!"
"Then bring him with us next time!"
"I can't the game doesn't work that way!"
"Wait, what?"

I thought that too, especially when she pulls the same stunt in Citadel with the hot tub with no door. That hot tub scene was awkward enough if you're not romancing her as FemShep, but was so awkward with Male Shep it ended up being absolutely frigging hilarious.

Mark Meer completely nailed the sheer bizarreness of that scene, having that tone of quiet desperation as he was forced to engage in a conversation when what he really wants to do is scramble out of the door. 'Specially because if you befriend her as Male Shep, their interaction comes across almost like an older brother and little sister...

Yeah, Shep probably needed a lot of brain bleach after that.

I've never played BroShep - I'll have to youtube this scene.  So Samantha is a repeat exhibitionist then.   :o

I still think nothing could be worse than FemShep Queen of workplace sexual harassment - - - Jacob, Vega, (cough)Thane-I-know-your-wife-died-tragically-but-how-'bout-it-  ;) conversations.  She was a menace!

Edit - and Garrus with the reach and flexibility line - I just.....couldn't!

I loved that scene, it was done really well and that line, 'I can't lose you again'.....

Same here, I loved that scene. I thought it was great and it was the most emotional scene in the game for me. Not sure I can cope with a scene like that again, though, it was heartbreaking.

I'm partial to the idea that Cullen is basically our general and leads the Inquisition's troops. The Inquisitor and companions are more like a special forces strike team. :P

This would allow Cullen to be on the field for an emotional farewell before the final battle... and also, if I may be so bald bold, leave open the possibility that he can be a temporary companion during a mission or two?

I agree,I think he'll be a temporary companion at some point as well...
Besides,I suppose it would make more sense If he was also present in the battlefield when commanding our troops, after all truth be told the morale of the soldiers would be undermined if their leader was absent during the battle.
Actually I was thinking,if he indeed has physical presence in the battlefield, perhaps we could run into him in leading our troops in a major battle, where we sent them to conquer an important keep or something, which would be awesome.

Actually Steve Kilt did that concept, and only one says DAI. So I guess it is just DA2 art. It's gorgeous, though.

The Keep one? Yeah, it's a concept art for Dumar's Keep in DA2.

I kind of want the NPCs to be temporary companions you'd bring along on various plot-related missions, so we get to see the out in the field and not have them simply sitting around in our Keeps all the time.

So if Leliana is our spymaster, we take her on a mission where the Inquisitor is involved in an assault against a base, which is actually only a distraction so Leliana can infiltrate the base and get the information that we really want. Or have Cullen serve as the general at the rear of the battle, leading our forces whilst we serve as the Vanguard.

(And yeah, FemShep seriously needs to attend some workplace harrassment seminar. It doesn't help that Jennifer Hale makes FemShep's flirty banter sound like she's constantly on the prowl... I have no doubt that post-Destroy, FemShep's ultimate fate is to be up there with some of the Asari Matriarchs when people debate who the galaxy's greatest cougar was.)

Now I feel kind of weird. I'm generally pretty agnostic on both gender and romance. I know I will have *a* romance because it helps me tell the story better, as it were, but I hardly ever have an OTP. So Cullen banter, Dirian banter, Cass banter, as long as somebody provides entertaining interpersonal dynamics. And there's always adviser banter. I have a sudden urge to do a fem!Amell and romance Leliana just for my own headcanon amusement and the conversations they could have.

Actually, I've been noodling a Cullen/Amell fic set during DA2 but don't know if I can pull it off.

As far as Shep--maybe writing female flirt stuff is hard for them? Female flirt stuff that doesn't sound ridiculous? Or maybe they figured hey, FemShep is a warrior; strong take charge, so she would necessarily be that way in a romance?

But that's not really the way it works. Just cuz a woman may be a warrior and slay all the bad people, does not mean she approaches her romantic inclinations the same way. lol! Does not mean she has no tenderness in such matters. Maybe even a few butterflies.

I'm Reaaallly hoping that emotion/tone/dialogue wheel thing they're doing in DAI will give a more appropriate option---for me. I mean, if you're RPing the kinda woman that is as blunt abt her romantic life as FemShep was--at least in initial dialogue--she could get better after you cringed thru the first couple of opening lines-- then that's great. But it kinda breaks the spell if I'm cringing behind the controller.

I always imagined that the conversation at the boys club card game must invariably have turned to a 'Yeah, Shep - she's a bit creepy!' debriefing session for the Normandy crew (and that's why NO-ONE ever asked her to join in!)

Or subtlety for that matter...I haven't played Mass Effect to know how FemShepard flirted with her LI's,but I certainly disliked the way FemHawke(MaleHawke too at times)approached a possible romantic interest.

Don't feel weird. There's quite a few folks that are agnostic abt the gender and romances here. :wizard:

I'm not one of them--well abt the gender thing--just cuz it doesn't Feel the same for me. Like if I wanna romance Dorian, but he ends up being male only--me just rolling a dude to be w/him is not the same for me. Idk why, but it just doesn't quite hit the spot for me.

By Dirian, do you mean Dorian/DHMG?

Oh and while I don't always play an Amell, when I do, she goes for Leliana. Just to make Cullen's crush extra hopeless.

omg yes! I was so embarrassed at the way my femHawke Hoochied up to Seb, and for that matter All of the LI's. But it really stood out when I tried to flirt w/Seb. I was just like, omg Hawke pleeaase StAhP w/the Leisure Suit Larry Routine. Please.

Hawke and Sebastian was the funniest.  It was such a case of ' soooo that vow of chastity - how's that going for you because I'm available.....no really I mean it, right here, ANYTIME NOW!'

Hey all *waves*

It's been awhile but I have been checking this thread every day.. thanks for all the laughs!

So I solved the problem I had with my mother rolling her eyes at me whenever I gushed about DA/DA2.... I got her playing it lol

She is working on every origin in DA right through to a complete DA2 playthrough for each.

A few things I noticed about her pt's though...

1. She never romances Alistair, can't stand him actually heh

2. Loghain always survives the Landsmeet, sometimes gets killed on the Archdemon.

3. She always has Anora and Ali rules together, she just loves Anora.

4. Anders always gets the murder knife.

5. She has a thing for Fenris, except the one male playthrough where she romanced Isabella.

She doesn't roll her eyes anymore. She instead spends her days (and half the night) playing and raving on about DA's like I haven't played them a few hundred times myself haha Its pretty awesome to be honest. Oh, and she is really excited about Cullen being in DA:I, though she scared me a little while we were talking the other day - we agreed on this though...

The best way for Bioware to make (some, at least the ones in this thread) female gamers play male characters = make Cullen a m/m romance only. She's right, I'd only play guys.

(Please note... I hope that didn't cause offence, wasn't meant to belittle anyone that wants that)

For some characters I created, the lack of subtlety was fitting but for others not so much...To be honest, this is one of the occasions where I prefer the dialogue system they had in origins, but who knows hopefully they'll give us more than one flirting option this time.

Yeah sorry. Can't type. Dorian.

I've actually got a fem!Amell kicking around in my head, but I'm reluctant to play her because she'd go for Al, spare Loghain and get Al killed. Someday I will figure out the magic RP combo.

FemShep's flirting is very direct and confident, although can sometimes be kind of like a bull in a china shop. Like with Vega, who became incredibly bashful when she casually asked where their flirtation was going and if he was going to act on it. Particularly when you realise that it's harder to get him into bed in the Citadel DLC than it is with Javik.

As for Fem Hawke... I kind of felt bad her if she romanced Sebastian, since it was obvious she was unhappy with the chastity part of their marriage. While he has religious reasons for wanting to be chaste, seriously, how is a danged Prince going to have any heirs if he's not willing to do the deed? Plus it kind of makes Hawke seem less important to him than his faith?

Is it just me, or does DAI sound like it's going to be very complex and complicated?

Definitely not just you. I'm really anxious about this and I'm sure I'll fail miserably during my first playthrough. It just sounds so... Hard? And yes, complicated. I fear I'll be doing a lot of re-loading saves, which they said they didn't want people to have to do, but, yeah. I'm so not into hard combat.

Diplomatic Hawke seems quite happy in a chaste marriage by Legacy. And I RP'd her as a devout Andrastian. I liked that his faith was more important than Hawke. Though I'll agree with you on Hawke's come-ons being dreadful. One of my big fears is actually that the marriage will be retconned or otherwise made irrelevent. I liked having a Chantry brother husband.

I think we'll get the hang of it. I mean, I'm gonna be feeling like a total n00b when I start--and that scares me a lil, but I kinda like it, too.

We're gonna have to do alot of hunting/crafting, but after playing AC3--which was heavy on the hunting/crafting/trade system--I'm feeling okay abt that part at least.

The combat--well, heck. Let's just go kick their friggin' azzez. It may be a challenge, but I'm sure BW will give us the tools we need to rise to the occasion.
