I'm chatting with my friend, who is a fledgling Dragon Age fan (she is on her second playthrough of DA2, romancing Anders this time). And it's kind of awesome to finally have someone commiserate with me that Cullen could potentially be the only (in our eyes) attractive male love interest... I feel so alone sometimes! :P

Don't read if you are a fan of Solas or mustache guy :P

Spoiler

We're both crossing our fingers for Cullen at this point :P

Can you guys hook up a controller to the PC? Would that help at all w/the arthritis? Or is that even worse?

Not sure you can do that with DA:O...

Yeah I had to explain to my poor friend that Cole will not be romanceable. Once I explained who/what he was, she understood. But she added: "well Mr. Gaider shouldn't be so uppity if he is throwing such meager scraps our way.  Take the hint Gaider - your man child is preferable to this"

Sorry, she's just cracking me up lol

So aside from Cullen, she said her guy will doing the big qunari lol

Does your friend also prefer to play male characters?

I maintain that with the right voice and personality, Solas could be somewhat sexy. They did it with Zathrian for me. Also Fenris, thinking back. It was ages before I heard his voice and though I didn't think he was a good fit despite being sexy as hell, at first.

And I think DHMG is good looking in spite of his unfortunate facial hair. Right now, his biggest crime is that he's boring me. He sounds like a total Gary Stu from that survey leak. I want him racist, I want him to have all the slaves and I want him to have another flaw. Also, the really strong gay vibe I get from him is preventing me from getting excited about romancing him since I don't play male characters.

Nah, not weird at all. She is seriously swooning over the guy that does the VO for Fenris  lol She just had her 61st birthday, she's been playing my copies so I decided on getting her the two games for herself as a late b-day present.

I don't know if this happens to anyone else - I'm playing a bunch of games at the moment out of sheer boredom waiting for DA:I and I am hearing the DA/ME/Bioware games VO's all over the place. Cullen, Fenris - I think those  were kingdom of amalur and Meredith in Skyrim - don't quote me on it I'm playing so much at one time hehe  (I think it was more but I can't remember them all)

I'm hearing voices :P

As for the romance with Cullen / npc.. To be honest I *am* sort of worried. I didn't really like it in ME3... I really like having the LI in my group and part of the party banter. The comments from other members about the romance - like Zevran to Alistair. I worry that the romance will feel diminished somehow because of that lack of banter while trudging all over the place. But that is just my personal feelings w/o knowing what it will be like - they have said that you will have to go back to base a lot in DA:I so maybe there will be a lot more interaction in "camp". I keep going back to the PAX? video where he announced Cas and Cullen as LI's - where it was said it's okay if Cullen is a little awkward.. I'm evil.. I'm really looking forward to him being awkward if he is.. like in DAO where he bolts if you flirt with him... that was just awesome. I liked the Seb interaction in DA2 because if how embarrassed he got haha So I would be a happy me if Cullen is all cute and shy at the start with romance and all assertive in his role as a leader.

As for how hard the game will be - I am.. worried.. a little. As someone who plays on easy-as-possible mode, unless I want to unlock and achievement, I'm sitting here, listening to them say how they wanted to make it challenging, and cringing. Really hoping my mother and I aren't too hopeless for DA:I lol Especially mum, she has bad arthritis in her hands so she is slower that the average younger gamer (she can't control her character with the keyboard she is mouse only for movement and clicking skills) ... too challenging can mean not enjoying herself and giving up. She finds ME impossible to play, she was loving the story but the controls, shooting, needing to use the keyboard, was too much for her.

Wow, I'm going to shut up now. Didn't realise I was typing so much.

Oh, lord, sympathies to your mom re: the arthritis. I have fibromyalgia, and it makes my hands slow, weak, and very stiff. When I was living with Former Flatmate, I learned the hard way that me + console games = ugly crying.

Some PC games are the same way; sounds like ME is probably one of them. Good to know. I haven't played it yet, but if the keyboard controls are that tricky, maybe I shouldn't bother. :/

Scenarios like these are what the Kinect and Move are supposedly good for. Though not all games are made for them or, if they are, they don't work well. It's a shame, really. I wish there was a way around physical limitations.

On the difficulty issue, I have lupus and it causes a lot of joint issues. There are times my hands wont work at all and I can get foggy on response time, also. I'm lucky in that I can just get my boyfriend to get me through the harder parts of combat. He's way better at games than I am and plays a lot more. If I were on my own, though, I'd be worried. lol

Did anyone else get a good refreshment to their excitement for DA:I today? The leaked images turned my whole afternoon around. :3

Yeah pretty much.

And I definitely don't doubt they will be interesting, well-written characters. I'm just (and finally found someone who AGREES with me!) not remotely interested in them romantically, not even one tiniest of a percentile.

It's not that I think DHMG will be badly written, it's more that I'm not really interested in him as it stands. I want to know more, but until then, he's just boring me.

I wasn't going to go into it but since you mentioned it, yeah mum has lupus. Its out of control atm - systemic lupus, so yes she has the joint problems, foggyness etc etc.

Ophidiae - her problem specifically is that she has trouble using both hands at the same time as well as her hands not having very good finger control - by that I mean a) pain b ) she has trouble controlling one finger to press on the keyboard without them all responding and pressing at the same time. SO having one hand on the wasd keys to direct movement (without all the buttons being pressed at the same time - is difficult) plus another on the mouse... becomes impossible - her mind doesn't work with that kind of co-ordination.

Using a controller .. hmmm that might work but Im not sure her how hard that will be on her thumbs... but worth a shot - might give me an excuse to buy the ME trilogy on PS. Thats for the ideas guys will have to try her on a PS game to see how she handles it.

Wish I had Cullen pics to post to put this back on topic .. sorry lol

edited because apparently b ) is apparently a smiley without the space oops

I'm so sorry to hear that. :(

You might be interested in a discussion over the Feedback section regarding the desire for a super-easy "Narrative Mode" so people can bypass the more difficult combats. It was the thing that got me posting here on the forums for the first time, since something like that would be a godsend for me when my hands don't work, or on high pain days when I just want to get lost in the story and not think for a while.

Alright, I don't mean to repeat myself but I don't think you all had a fair chance to see what I have made. It was my first post with the new forums and by the time a moderator accepted my post, this thread was already some odd pages ahead, leaving my little tributes buried. So just in case none of you have seen this. ;w;

A friend suggested the Kinect to me a while back, though I haven't tried it yet. I really would like to be able to expand the number and range of games I can play, so maybe I'll look into it some more.
