He wasn't in aimo's drawing :lol: Which means he's probably singing to himself in the Keep because he's an advisor;

*Cullen is wearing a shower cap and playing with a rubber duck in a tub*

Cullen: C-U-LL-E-N he's a sexy gentleman! Cullen, Cullen! Yeeeeeeeah Cullen!

*faucet drip*

Cullen:...It's not the same

I need to draw this now; thanks :P

I dunno about that! When we had our Cullen party, that was one of the questions that was asked a couple of times.. so surely he'd have been aware of us not knowing the name

Then DG lied to us? I somehow doubt that... Unless that tweet was just a mean troll tweet, but that doesn't likely.

Cause otherwise I don't know why DG would tweet ,"So that's Cullen's last name..."

I think... considering that Alistair kept his first name but didn't claim a family name until he admitted being a royal bastard and even then only to acknowledge who his father was; I'm inclined to think it's a Chantry thing that foundlings have their family names removed. It would make a certain kind of sense, I think. Wards of the Chantry have no family (whether they're orphans or just abandoned) so they have no family name. I'd think Cullen is his first name. He may have once had a family name but it  was removed when he became a knight. Unless he was a Chantry foundling from a young age, then he may not even remember his last name. Just my take on it.

I think you're on to something here. Can you think of any Templars who had a first and last name? I can't...

This needs to become a thing.

Knowing how snarky Gaider is, I wouldn't be surprised if what he was saying was "So, 'Cullen' is Cullen's last name..."

You are right, of course.  It is a mystery.  I feel like I'm constantly running around saying to myself, "What does it all MEAN?!?"

We know hardly anyone from Ferelden's surname unless they're noble so it may also be a cultural quirk that family name is only signficant for a certain class. Or exists for a certain class.

Aveline's husband had one. Wesley Vallen.

Also Evangeline from Asunder.

It's an odd thing to troll about. Hmm. What was the exact wording?

@davidgaider Oh, so *that's* Cullen's last name. I like it.

Well, that certainly implies there is a last name, instead of him lacking one. Unless Gaider approves of Cullen having no last name, or the reason why Cullen doesn't have one.

Evangeline de Brassard and Otto Alrik. The funny part is that all templars are addressed by the first name except Ser Alrik.

DG doesn't really troll though? And he seems to hate spreading misinformation. Yes he's snarky, but usually in response to rude fans. I don't really see him deliberately tricking everyone years before the truth is revealed.

Only other possibly, if a dev in fact did confirm it with GE, is that Cullen at one point had a name but they decided to not use it.

evangeline was a noble tho.

There's also Meredith Stannard. Ser Alrik, I believe, had a first name (Otto?).

Also, if Cullen came from a commoner family, he wouldn't have a last name. Most commoners were known by their trade, hence the reason there are so many families with the last name of Smith, etc.

*sigh* ToP:

And if he did want to troll us, surely he'd pick something less randomly mundane and more...sexed up and sensationally.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if we knew of anyone by first and last name, so that answers that!

So then.. what's the difference between those who we know by full name and those we only know by first? Nobility aside, of course. Maybe Wesley had a last name *because* he was married?

This needs to become a thing.

Only Meredith. Her last name was Stannard. But she was also an older teen when she joined. She may not have been a foundling. Or she just recalls her former last name since she wasn't some little kid the Chantry had given to them. She chose to join the Order after her Mage sister was possessed and killed their family and half the village they lived in. So... There's that. Otherwise? I can think of no one.
