Wait, wait, wait...what if Cullen is the son of a mage that gave birth in the Circle? He would have no last name, and would have been raised by the Chantry, and then raised by the Templars...

That used to be my headcanon for a long-long time until I decided that it doesn't really matter :)

hehehehe... One of my more... extreme Cullen origin theories is that he was birthed by a Tevinter magister who had no interest in a baby so she left him at the Chantry she was hiding in when she had him. Killed a sister for blood to heal herself and skidaddled because she thought someone had reported they believed her to be a mage. And when the templars came, they kept Cullen in hopes that he would provide a link to mom so they could bring her to justice.  I have a few variations on the theme but Cullen's-parents-were-mages is a favorite trope of mine. :D

I wonder why GE tweeted that just now rather than during the #cullenparty. Slipped his mind until his barista this morning was named Colin? Just received his response telegram from the Writers' Pit? Starting a secret VO session that we can't know about so we don't start counting lines and extrapolating from there? Working on his hypothetical project with Jessica?

*steals Sifr's tinfoil hat*

I'm still hoping he has a last name, although it hadn't occurred to me that that might require him being a noble, ugh. In that case, never mind.

I like the idea of Cullen having no last name, too, actually. (Which must sound odd, as I've been the one salivating at finding out what his last name, if there is one.) It adds to his character, that Cullen was literally a nobody before all this crap happened to him. And now, here he is. Helping save Thedas.

It makes me gleeful.

Gotta love an under dog story!

Underdog stories are the best kind, I think. :D That and the-enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend stories. Loooooove those!

We came up with a theory about that a long time ago in which the Templar's killed his apostate mage mother with baby Cullen in tow, then sent the newly orphaned baby to the Chantry to grow up and when he came of age the Chantry put him forward for Templar training. Imagine how much of a head **** he'd have finding that one out!

Honestly from all the theories I've read about his past, this one is by far my favourite. So much anguish and drama!

Would you like interacting with Oghren?

I mean that's like Zach Galifianakis being chosen to represent the human race.

Oof, you have me there. I did like Oghren as a character, he was my Fem!Cousland's homie (I don't think we'd get along exactly if it was actually meeee however).

I suppose there's no real way to see what Cullen actually thinks until the game actually comes out. :C

I like that too. I like to think he's made himself out of nothing, used every opportunity the Order provided an orphan boy, and became an educated and skilled templar, and now possibly a general, who's fighting to save the world. This is just so epic, and we kind of were around most of the time :) Like Cullen grew up with us. It just makes me so proud I knew him in Magi Origin  :D

I still like the wild theories that Cullen is Fiona's son, Alistair really is the maid's child, and that's why they look so similar. Probably will not happen, though.  :P

Reminds me so much of the start of the Hunchback Of Notre Dame. Now excuse me, I need to find a large fireplace to sing Hellfire to.

It's my favourite, too. It sounds awful but I just really want Cullen to have had a horrible and hard life, so that when we do finally get to talk to him he'll have all these gut wrenching stories to tell us... plus, I think it would make his romance arc sweeter if he finally found (and allowed himself) to have this one thing for himself, and to see him genuinely find happiness, no matter how potentially fleeting it is.

I think that's how English nobility worked/works, too, not sure though.

It's... complicated. The Royal House is Windsor, which is the legal surname of the ruling monarch, but the surname used by the Queen's descendants is Mountbatten-Windsor, combining both her name and that of her husbands. Sounds simple, but it actually needed to be figured out before their marriage and later in a court to work out due to all the complicated matters of who precisely got what surname and titles etc.

And I love the idea that Cullen's a magespawn, headcanon accepted!

His mother was a mage and his father smelled of elderberries! :P

Well, if Cullen starts yelling "The bells! The bells!" And then climbs up the Chantry's bell tower, I'll be joining you by the fireplace!

Is that just reconfirming the PAX demo thing where you could go back on your word and save the village?

Is it too much to ask that if I put off certain secondary quests the outcome changes? Like if I put off saving a town or keep will it be harder to take out because they have created more defences or easier because whatever was there has moved on. That would be ammaaazzzinng but hard to pull off game wise. o_o

I love how DAI is shaping up, but I do have one concern. So, the devs said we can continue playing after the main story ends, right? Well, you could do that with Skyrim too and tbh doing just the main story in Skyrim on it's own was dull, short and paper thin... I'm kinda worried that DAI's main story will be short and/or feel paper thin too.
