When I read that part of the article I had a flash back to Tomb Raider 2 when Lara is chilling out in her mansion one evening when the bad guys break into her house and start attacking her, and she's literally running around in her skimpy dressing gown killing her would-be attackers!

I kinda have two ideas in my head for how I'd like that attack on our home-base to play out:

The first being that there's a cutscene of our Inquisitor tucked up in bed with his/her LI (maybe after a masquerade ball or something) and then suddenly all hell breaks loose and we have to try and get to our armour and weapons cache by fighting are way through the halls in just our nightwear/undergarments.

The second is that the attack happens whilst we're out in the field somewhere. The big bad misjudges when we'd be home and goes ahead with the attack, suddenly some badly beaten out of breath soldier runs up to us whilst we're out in the world and gives us word of the attack and we have to literally hot foot it back there under a timer to save our home base and the companions/characters/npcs that are still there. Once we arrive we have to battle our way through and find all the companions/important NPCs like Cullen, Leliana, scribe girl etc and save them/make sure they're safe. Depending on how long we took to arrive at our base depends on how damaged it is and how many non-important npcs died.

Oh, I'm a fan of either of those scenarios, preferably the second.

I love that scene! If we got something like that in DA:I, I'd be a happy woman.

By the time Cass came to Kirkwall to interrogate Varric, Cullen may have left Kirkwall ages ago for whatever reason. I'll be interested to find out, either way!

Indeed. I could see him being recalled to Val Royeaux for Lambert's KC meeting, which technically takes place before DA2's ending with Cass and Varric.

What I find most disturbing is that Cass says this even when you import a US warden. So does this mean Hawke is also dead?? If this is the case, then it would be a non-issue.

Hmm, given all the import flag probs with the game, I'd expect that's just a bug, but I've never heard anything either way since I don't have an US save.

I think she could referring to the "Orlesian Warden" that you take control of in Awakening.

I hope he wasn't one of those agreeing to break the Accord... unless it happened like this...  :bandit:

Shameless self-promotion? ;)

And I doubt he'd be one of the ones breaking the Accord.

Naw, I think that was just sloppy writing. Well, that or maybe she's refering to the Warden you make in Awakening, if your DA:O warden sacrificed themselves.

Heck yeah! But really, it's just shorthand for the fact that I'd hope he'd have an ulterior motive. If he was there, he broke the Accord. So either I hope he wasn't there (and so therefore was not KC of Kirkwall) or broke it with other sneakier, but good-er intentions. (and yes, gooder is a word. ahem <_< )

"Gooder" ;)  Where's Artemis when you need her?

Indeed. He very well could have "agreed" to break the Accord at the meeting, but still had no intention to uphold that.

I much more attached to my Hawkes than any of those, but I recently created a new Orlesian Warden that I love (and who loves Nate!). If only DAO would stop crashing on me so I could finish my playthrough without annoyance. :/

Oh, very true. I love my Hawkes SO much more. Plus, it helps that I played DA2 when I was a bit older, cause I was....15 when I played DAO back in 09. So in that sense, I could connect with my Hawke a lot more, in my opinion.

I adored my Warden, but I have to say that once I made a Hawke that liked (male sarcastic mage) I grew more attached to him in a way, simply because he's voiced and was essentially a character in his/her own right, whereas the Warden was more of an avatar to project whatever you wanted on her/him.

Same, sort of. I always play my characters as a self-insert, so I initially was a fan of the silent Warden, but now that we do indeed have a voice protagonist, I don't think I could ever go back to the silent one.

Referring back to that blurb in the leaked IGN article by Cameron, it makes me wonder if the "big bad" directly attacking our home will either be part of the final battle, OR (more preferably) will occur towards the last stretch of the game by which time the Inquisition is strong, we've got thousands of people on our side and our Inquisitor him/herself is notorious and prolific etc. So, the big bad completely destroys our main home-hub and for the remaining few main quests we'll have to move into one of our strongholds/make a makeshift campsite/stay in some important noble's home or whatever, whilst we plan our attack and prepare ourselves for the final battle, etc.

From what Cam said, I'm assuming it's more towards the middle, once we have gotten a decent following, and we have caught the big bad's attention. He/she/it comes and blows up our home, forcing us to reevaluate our approach to the situation/rebuild, before beginning the second half of the game.
