Yup. Never knew who Leliana was until I started my second playthrough.
One good thing about knowing how all the possible companions look like pre-release,is that you won't miss them(or kill them)in the game.

*wonders idly if she's the only one with an executed Alistair*

My headcanon for the time being is that Alistair knows where the Warden/his wife is, but he's keeping it secret because she asked him to.
Ohhhh, mine as well. She's been resting back at Denerim after that nasty Nathaniel wanted to jump her bones (shh, headcanon) and Alistair keeps all quiet-like about it so that A) she can rest and be energized for his romping returns, and B ) tend to their 254 toe-headed children.
I completely disagree, but like you said, the line is up to personal interpretation.
Well, what I'm saying is, he clearly buys into the stereotype (which apparently exists in Thedas as well as our world...) that women aren't naturally suited to the battlefield.
Only other alternative is maybe him saying something along the lines of: "It's too bad we live in this awful sexist world because if we didn't, then you could be your true self and lead our armies to victory" or something lol Somehow I don't think he means that though.
Plus it wouldn't really make sense. Sure, Orlais is clearly sexist, but there apparently ARE female chevaliers. Why couldn't a female lead an army in Orlais?
Why kill Alistair? Unless you're playing a psychopathic character. Which I can see being fun lol Although I personally couldn't do it. Killing companions or giving them back to slavery, nope I gotta draw the line sometimes!
Xbox achievements ... I tell you they're evil! I never had Alistair executed though, he just left my party.
*Wow, not quiet awake yet ... I meant that in order to get the recruiter achievement on Xbox, you have to get Loghain, which makes Alistair leave your party.*
*I don't know why I replied, it still makes no sense in my head. I blame my kids ... yes, evil 3 year olds.*

I honestly asked for the game for Christmas that year, and had not seen any of the pre release stuff.
In DA2 I almost didn't get Fenris. My brother had to tell me to go talk to Anso because that would lead me to get a warrior for my team
*snip the most perfect meme ever*
I'm definitely saving that one. The best b*tch please face I have ever seen. ![]()
Well, it's more Gaspard's opinion than something general. We already had sexist characters in the previous games. The fact the men and women are equal doesn't mean that there aren't sexist people.
Yeah and it's disappointing
Well, if sexism still exists, then by default equality does not yet exist. Same with racism, homophobia, etc.
It's okay, I was really naive and stupid to think I'd encountered a fantasy world that could be such a utopia. *shrugs* Then again, this is just one writer; DA is the result of a conglomeration of writers, so there's hope yet.

I didn't see them either, mainly because I discovered and played the game by chance. If it wasn't for my curiosity,to check every single thing and do all the quests,I would have totally missed Leliana or Sten too.
I'd prefer to be thoroughly spoiled. I had a nervous breakdown--nausea, crying--over some info in the ME3 leak (not ending related) and if my first encounter with the info had been the actual game, it'd have been much worse. So if something I won't like happens, I'd prefer to be spoiled.
I say I don't mind spoilers, but honestly... it depends on the spoiler?
1. DA:O I didn't know about the Dark Ritual, and that's something I wouldn't have minded preparing for (i.e. building up persuasion!!!)
2. DA2 I did know about Anders and the Chantry, so I was like, it's no big deal buddy, of course I won't kill you! But if I hadn't known, would the scene have had more impact? Probably. (Still wouldn't have killed him b/c I don't kill companions, but, you know.)
3. ME series I wasn't spoiled for anything, and maybe that's why several key scenes, like encountering Sovereign in ME, encountering the Prothean VI in ME, or the ME3 ending, really had such a massive effect (HA!) on me.
Well, racism was kind of obvious to exist in Thedas. Humans are racist towards elves (and sometimes dwarves); dalish are racist towards humans and city elves. Of course not all of them are, but it was clear from DAO.Yeah and it's disappointing

If Cullen ends up being a romance option for male PC's, then my life will be complete!

Yeah, I generally prefer to be spoiled on some things (romances, cameos, some minor past decisions, etc). Not major plotines usually, depends on the situation. I'm glad I read ME3 leak though, it prepared me for some of the worse parts of the game.

First time I brought my Cousland/Ali's Baby Mama over to Awakenings....my word, I had never wanted a rivalry romance so bad before in my life.
I'd say Antiva and Rivain have high chances to be better in this regard than Orlais, and not only for sexism and homophobia but racism too.
Man I would love to visit either of those two countries!

You and me both, buddy! ![]()

I honestly don't remember him in DA:A too much (only played it once) but man his brief cameo in DA2 was smokin'!
Man I would love to visit either of those two countries!
I think we might explore the Northern countries in the next game, expecially with a qunari invasion plot; though it's possible that they'd decide to focus on Tevinter.
Indeed. I see them aiming for more Tevinter and Nevarra in the next game.
I liked Nathaniel a lot. Not that it changes much (expect for some dialogues), but I like building a friendship with my Cousland Warden.
I just remember that he showed up attempting to kill the Warden (and I had a Tabris at the time) and I couldn't really understand why. I decided not to kill him because that Warden was rather a do-gooder, and I was honestly surprised when he became a companion and a fellow Warden.
Then after that it seemed like everyone I met wanted to become a Warden LOL That was kind of funny. Didn't seem so special anymore.
