Completely randomly, but still Cullen related:

I just watched a true crime documentary, and one of the women they were interviewing had the surname Cullen. So it can be a given name or a surname.  :wizard:

I also found this origin which I thought was rather neat:

Origin of the name Cullen:

Borrowed from the Irish, Cullen is the Anglicized form of the Irish surname Mac Cuilinn (son of Cuileann). Cuileann is an Irish name meaning “holly.”

Edit: Ignore my dumbarsery and stating the obvious. Got caught up with "Oh hey, she has the last name Cullen!" orz

Morrigan, Alistair and Zevran did it, right? It could happen, though I'd like this time to see the actual gift .

Like if you get a flower, you actually get to equip it in your hair? Or a necklace?

I hope not. I don't like ME's system without aproval. I want my companions to react more and change their views on me depending all my choices, not just the tie breaker. I want to bride them with gifts. I'd love to see DAO's aproval system in DAI, it's my favorite.

I'm the opposite; I love ME's system. I can do whatever I want and everybody still loves me

Ummm, no offense, dear, but I could have told you it was a surname...

I was mostly referring to the fact that when they gave the gifts (the same could be said for Warden and Hawke though) we didn't actually see the gifts.
I'd like to see our PC use them, but I don't think it'll be possible.
About catching up with the news, what is the last news you got?

Quoting myself because reasons:

I'm also one of those people that find symbolism and the like fascinating, so I looked up the Celtic meaning of Holly.

Exactly.  If a gift from an LI is wearable or usable, we should be able to equip it.  It really shouldn't be that difficult to do, should it?

Speaking of jewelry, I hope rings, belts and necklaces are visible and not just there giving us bonuses :P

I realised that after. Oops. I got distracted with "I've never seen it as a last name on a people outside fiction!"

Look at the nice origin, though!

Or we could put gifts from LIs in the keep. Like a rose on a desk or something :3

Zev's earring is supposed to appear in your inventory, but sometimes it's bugged and doesn't show up.

Though it would be cool if you could equip it; "The power of love gives you +5 strength and dexterity!"

Cullen's office rapidly becomes cluttered with unnecessary furniture.

Inquisitor: I got you another desk <3

Cullen: Maker, no...!

I think it does relationships much more easier (well kind of I somehow fail to pick right dialogue options) but I don't want them to be easy. I want characters to get mad at me and dislike me for my actions or like me for actions they approve of. Well downside for this was that Alistair has disliked almost everyone of my Wardens ^^;

I agree to this as well.  It's not really a big thing, but it would be a really cool detail as part of making the character your own.

Even regular earrings don't show up in cut scenes!

I have to say, I remember I was playing Skyrim and I had my bosmer standing on a cliff or something, and I was rotating the camera all around him, just admiring my adorable elf dude. When suddenly I paused and thought, what the hell is that mess all over his chest?! That's when I realized that necklaces actually appear on the model when you wear them

I have a mod that let's you equip his earring and it gives... I think 10+ dexterity and 10+ cunning.

I loved Al's rose, but for a character like Cullen I'd prefer a few lines revealing he's taken care of some tedious yet vital task (seeing food is restocked, etc) that the Inquisitor is supposed to do--because he loves her.

That's right, they do!  I admit to getting distracted and playing with that feature in Skyrim, just trying things on and matching accessories.  Don't tell anyone.... :?

*wonders idly if she's the only one with an executed Alistair*

I have a save where my female mage is King Alistair's chancellor mistress, and one where my male noble allied with Anora for a royal title and had him executed. I like trying different playthroughs with different types of characters.

My God, my first playthrough in DA games are always a train wreck lol

The first time I played Origins, my female mage turned down the Dark Ritual. I was already pissed that she couldn't openly be with King Alistair, but I figured I could just sacrifice myself for a heroic ending. NOPE. Oh man, so much rage. It took a long time for me to pick up the game again. :D

On the topic of gift giving and my not-so-subtle attempt to forget my earlier fail:

I liked how DA2 had special gifts you could give your LI and I liked how in DA:O your LI had a special gift for you. I say they should just smash both into DA:I and let us give a special gift and receive a special gift!

And that's probably already been said, but there you go! I'll say it too!
