Awww that's not true. I probably scared everyone off. I usually have that effect on people.

Is it just me, or did it just get really quiet here?
I slipped off to make dinner. Didn't think it merited an announcement. ![]()

Well I am currently making blueberry muffins. But NOTHING can keep me away from Cullen, not even muffins.

Thank you for adding me to the list, littlenikki!
Work's been a little crazier than usual lately (in the past 2 weeks 3 people have resigned and 2 more gave their resignations today) so I may not be on here as much as I would like. If I'm not on when you're starting to collect the money just send me a message and I can get it to you as soon as possible. ![]()

I had a crap week, so the fried okra is a comfort food treat to myself. Though, I am Southern enough to cook collards and blackeyed peas on New Year's Day.

I'm sorry you had a crap week!
Eat you some okra. You deserve it.
I had collard greens for the first time last week. We ate them uncooked in a salad as a substitution for romaine. It was maybe the happiest food moment of my life.

Where are you from? Okra is a Creole ingredient around here so most Cajuns hate it. The worst is okra in a gumbo ![]()
On NYD my mother does cooked cabbage, I think? Even though she hates it LOL

See, this is why I live in Nebraska. Corn and cows as far as the eye can see, and dinner sharply at 5

Ok, I rescind the not talking remark.
You just solved the greatest mystery in the world. My hubby and I are both from Louisiana, but different parts. I'm Creole and he's Cajun. I want to bury myself in giant piles of okra and he hates it.

Florida. Dad's family came here from Georgia in 1890s. Mom's family was from Louisiana and Alabama originally; she was the the first one born and raised in Tampa. I grew up eating a very Floridian mix of traditional Southern staples and Cuban food.

I love collards beyond the telling of it. Would have cooked some tonight, except I was too damned tired.
