Do we know for certain that the Wardens have been corrupted, or is that speculation based on fighting them in the trailer?  Is it possible that that particular Inquisitor had some other reason to fight them, whereas another might get along with them just fine?

I wonder if the Grey Warden stuff has anything to do with the Architect and the decision made in Awakening.

Naw, just speculation based on them fighting in the trailer... and the Behemoth being there, suggesting some kind of Red Templar connection.

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

Strongly suggests a Faith and Cassandra team up. I COULD TOTALLY GET BEHIND THAT.

I keep imagining that we're going to find them dead in a ditch somewhere.

Hm... what a shame these people are dead in a ditch! It's not the Warden and Hawke, though. They are safe and sound. It's just the people who were mistaken for them, that's all.  ;)

Exactly!

As an aside, while it would be nice to have a Mage!Warden's connection to Cullen mentioned, I hope the game doesn't take things too far in making it a focus.

My canon Warden is a Cousland, and I wouldn't want to miss out on important pieces of Cullen's current content because of the Warden I chose in a previous game.

Plus frankly it wouldn't exactly show Cullen in the best light if he was still obsessing over a lady he had a handful of conversations with more than a decade ago. I hope he's already over her when he meets the Inquisitor, and that he can acknowledge her but has moved on.

Doesn't Ultimate give you all the DLC too?  So you get DAO, Awakening and then the Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar, Feastday Gifts, The Darkspawn Chronicles, Feastday Pranks, Leliana's Song, The Golems of Amgarrak, and Witch Hunt.  I wouldn't want him to miss out on Shale!

So the comparison would be $22.99 Awakening +$21.15 Origins + 12.67 for the no DLC option. $56.81 gift wrapping additional through Amazon.

VS

Dragon Age Ultimate $59.80 + 12.67 +(if they charge for gift wrapping)  =$72.47

Meaning all the DLC comes in at $15.66 which is a pretty stellar offer for all those packs.

I'd prefer to go with the Ultimate because it seems more generous to get him the lot but we'll leave it for the group to decide.

PS - did anyone ask the Dev's about passing it on to him for us?   :)

Edit - my fonts have gone weird cut and pasting but I'm not fixing it because I'm slack.   ;)

This is interesting. It's not a halla at all. [via Wiedz, of course!]

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw 4h
@user @user @BioMarkDarrah It’s supposed to be called a Red Hart, not a Halla. I’ll get origin folks to fix it.

Ohh, very interesting! Well halla are very intelligent, almost sentient, or am I wrong? So perhaps it would be inappropriate for a non-Dalish to ride one... like an insult? So this red hart is perhaps just a common forest dwelling creature, sort of like a wild horse (except obviously in the deer family).

I'm fine with either, but I would tend to be in the "if we're going to do it, let's do it the best we can" camp. :)

I think they are just intelligent.

Huh. What you can learn from wikipedia. I thought a hart was a kind of deer... but it seems it's just another word for deer.

"The word hart is an old alternative word for "stag" (from Old English heorot, "deer" – compare with modern Dutch hert and Swedish/Norwegian/Danish hjort, also "deer").

Specifically, the word "hart" was used of a red deer stag more than five years old."

Yes it's just a fancy word for deer, especially the kind rich people would hunt. The female counterpart is a hind.

That's so vague and relative though... I mean the mabari are clearly sentient. The damn dog plays cards for crying out loud lol And he understands whole sentences.

I wonder if halla were originally "regular" animals but became enchanted with intelligence the way mabari were.

I think it would be alright as long as it was some other character asking about Mage!Warden. I mean, they are the Hero of Ferelden, any information would probably be welcome, especially from someone who knew them before everything happened. That said, I do agree that it would be very, very uncomfortable for Cullen to still be enamored with Mage!Warden. He was still a little wistful in DA2, but by the time DAI happens it would be... [COUNTS ON FINGERS] six years after that, and possibly thirteen years since Cullen has even seen Mage!Warden. I'm hopeful the writers won't let it be weird.  :D

That said, I kinda want to eavesdrop on Cullen talking to a Leliana who romanced Mage!Warden. Perhaps that would be best left for fanfic.

If Bioware isn't sending him a game themselves, I can ask them through my twitter. How do you want it phrased and which dev do you want it send to?

Does anyone else read Chakhabit's Dragon Age fan Comic on Deviantart? Here's the link to the first chapter. Anyways, it's an Amell/Alistair focused comic so far, but the newest chapter has Cullen in it. I've been obsessed with this comic since she's started a few years back, and she's finally had the time to continue it. So in love with it.

Cullen: I knew an Amell once. She was a special woman. Never met her like again.

Hannah: Yeah, yeah. That's just because you haven't met my Inquisitor yet!  :D

Also just to be completely clear and above board what I propose is that I buy the games and we send them off to him through Amazon when the purchase is made (once we get an address).  ONLY after you guys have confirmation from someone official will we look at organizing a way to split up the bill through paypal or something.  I don't want anyone handing over a red cent until they hear from an agreed person that the goods have been received.

How does that sound to you all?

I think we should say something like

Dear X (whoever the right person to contact is)

Some of the participants in the Cullen Thread would like to buy Greg Ellis a copy of Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 as a token of our appreciation both for his work in the games and the kind manner in which he has engaged with the fandom.  We would like to know if Bioware would be prepared to accept delivery of the games for us and to convey them to Mr Ellis.  We would happily meet any postage cost incurred by the company if they are prepared to forward the package onto him for us.

Thank-you,

from whoever - preferably someone they've heard of before on our behalf.

We should have someone like Ericander or Lola do it. They are well known here and have had Twitter contact with Greg before.

Lots of fans have had contact with him. I'd be more than happy to have Lola relay our message to a dev :) but I think anyone can do it; we are all fans. Let Sister Goldring or Nikki do it; I believe it was their idea.
