Nine pages already.  NINE.  Jeeze.  Anwyay..... HI EVERYONE!  LOVE THE NEW DIGS!!

As far as Cullen being a little bit awkward, I truly had expected that, even looked forward to it.  I'm not talking about the running away in abject terror kind of awkward, but rather just a little bit of shyness at first, because you're the inquisitor (& a relationship in the middle of all this drama is a little intimidating), and plus he's def not a playa....well, as far as we know anyway.  ;)

it's my  understanding that there was a lot of confusion with translations and what not - Iron Bull as a mercenary with his own army seems more likely to be a military adviser and possibly a temporary companion. At least to me!  Though I still think he may be a rogue.

I think he was confirmed companion and warrior by Ashe earlier. Sorry.

Doesn't Vivienne count as pro-Circle? What with being extremely pro-Circle and all? Solas may also be spirit healer, given his knowledge of the Fade. I honestly think a darker/blood mage companion is more likely.

Makes sense. We have the Circle mage point of view, the apostate point of view. A Tevinter mage point of view, perhaps?

Hopefully if Cullen isn't a companion, we can still hear his opinions/reactions to all mage followers. Especially if that last one ends up happening.

As for the 3rd mage, everything inside me screams Finn. IF Viv and Solas aren't healers we would need one that was actually very content on being locked up in the Circle and he was pretty much sn expert on the Eluvians, but I extremely doubt it since he was a companion already. Just wishful thinking.

Fiiiiin!!!  Man, I'd love that! But we already have a pretty strong pro-circle mage in Vivienne. Maybe we'll see him, though?

It does limit Cullen's chances. Which is why I'm now Team Bearded Rogue!

Definitely,he has shown so far that he's leader material.Although when it comes to more personal moments he might retain his shyness and awkwardness.

Hm, I don't know. Now, after all these years, I look back at him, and things he said have different meaning.

Like, when during Broken Circle he says that he wants you, and all your party starts giggling, and you all are "AWKWARD, AWKWARD!", he says, when he realizes that he just kind of confessed, that he doesn't care anymore what you think. I think he went through revaluation of what's important in life.

And in DAII I think he was just being polite when he called prostitutes "young ladies", because he's extremely polite in DAII. Remember how he writes his letters? Yeah, he's like an Avatar of Politeness.

So I won't be surprised if, when your Inquisitor lures him into bed, he will silently undress, and calmly asks for instructions... I actually hope BioWare won't show this, because I want some food left for my imagination.  :wizard:

So, in order for Cullen to be a companion, we'd need for one of these things to be true:

1) The Grey Warden needs to be either a rogue now, or completely gone.

2) Cullen needs to be a rogue.

3) LadyInsanity needs to have gotten some information wrong.  :D

Of these three, I think the Grey Warden being a rogue is the most likely. Not as likely as Cullen simply being an NPC, though.

It's okay you know. This is a place for peoples who like Cullen. You don't have to want to romance him. We had regular posters who were straight guys in the old thread.

It's worth repeating that it's a discussion thread not strictly a fan thread. All respectful discussion is welcome!

Indeed. I myself would prefer The Bull to he an adviser, since I don't see it being practical for a leader of his own organization blatantly following the Inquisitor around wherever he / she goes. Of course it depends on how it is executed.

Personally though it doesn't really bother me if a certain character is a companion or not. Even if he is "merely" and NPC, if said characters role in the story is significant and gets proper characterization within the game, then I am more than satisfied.

I like this!... Well, except for the asking instructions part. I want him to be capable of taking the lead in the bedroom too. What if my Inquisitor is the "Instructions? The hell kind of... how do you INSTRUCT this kind of thing??" type.

1) In his concept art and quick apperance in the combat vid of GI, he has shield and sword. Most likely Warrior.

2) Cullen has always been a Warrior. Why change his class now  :) ?

3)We can wait to for Nerd Appropriate when they release the podcast of the panels.

My guess is he will be an important NPC. A cute romanceble NPC

Sorta of like Traynor or Cortez.

It was never stated he was pro-circle or not just that he was comfortable there.

Yeah,When it comes to manners he's pretty much like a 19th century gentleman,I don't think he'll be as blushy and shy as he was in origins, particularly when professional matters are at hand I expect him to be confident and firm, but some unexpected flirting from the inquisitor, might bring him in a moment of awkwardness where he might stutter or loose his words. :D

Oh, I am aware of how he was portrayed. But that was a long time ago, and things can change. Also, now I just really want a gruff, bearded rogue companion.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with Cullen as a romanceable NPC. (I like the idea of them, and hope they can be executed well.) I just want him to be a companion.

I also think that his wording about the, ah, young ladies, at the Blooming Rose was politeness. To *me*, it sounded very much as if he nearly said, "Whores", but toned it down out of politeness to and wariness of a stranger.  And before I'm taken to task *grin*, I don't think it was necessarily a judgement call about the girls at the Rose.  I think it's that he's a soldier, and soldiers, among themselves say all sorts of things.  And being the kind of man he is, I also assume he doesn't get out much. *grin* So, I think it was much more a near social slip of wording than any real nervousness.  /longwinded

"As someone who is extremely pro-circle, what is left for that person when that entire system crumbles?"
I think that's a Cameron Lee quote.

What I really mean is that I'd like to see a romance, where the character is being cool about the affair, but not because he's in denial of his true love for you or something, and not because he's scared you will break his heart or he will break yours. But just because he has such temper. And it doesn't mean that he doesn't care, he just doesn't get very emotional. And maybe he writes fantastic letters instead, because writing about such difficult things as feelings seems easier than talking.

But no point in speculating. And I will love Cullen anyway, just because it's Cullen :) I will love him even while I'll be romancing Cass

I really really really hope Cullen is not a NPC 'mance. I didn't like Traynor or Cortez's short, full of nothing romances at all, and would be really sad to know we finally had Cullen and they did that NPC nonsense to us. Reduce him to barely a few spoken words and romping. BUT what gives me hope is GE saying Cullen has a lot of dialog in game and a big part +raunchy/sexy ;)
