My favorite thing about Wal-Mart are the parents that let their kids wear plastic bags on their heads. And the kids who lick the floor.... I try to avoid it unless I don't have much of a choice.

I once saw a woman who had her kid on a leash, but was letting her dog roam the store.

So I disappeared for the day because I read the Masked Empire (the whole thing, yes).  It was good.  I would give my loverly opinions on certain characters and what not but I don't know how to do a spoiler tag lol.

Just do
TEXT YOU WANT SPOILER'D
and remove the spaces in the [ ]

This topic feels ironic. Just today there was a guy just down the street from me (an avenue that basically doubles as a highway, so lots of people) was shooting at passing cars and trees. And just now we had to shut all of our windows and bar them because there's a guy running through people's yards trying to get away from police.

I feel so safe.  :?

EDIT

Sympathies. I lived in a neighborhood like that back in my Jacksonville days. The only reason my house never got robbed was because the local gangs thought I was a root woman (witch) and would curse them if they messed with me. Gotta say, there were times when being a redheaded pagan had its uses. Of course, the Blair Witch-style twig men I hung from all the trees in my yard probably helped with that, too. ;)

I only went to WalMart because L was dying to see it. Otherwise, I avoid it like the plague.

Jesus, where do you live?

It's not violent here at all typically. In fact, this is somewhat unusual. Worst we get here is property crime and we stay way from Tweaker Street, which is basically one street where all the local tweakers squat at a couple houses. Walked down it one time, bunch of people were passed out high on some ragged couch in the driveway

In town, however, it's another story. Lots of gang shootings daily in the bad parts. Even the news is just like, "In other news, there was another gang shooting today. Anyways, now the weather!"

Why thank you for the spoiler alert!   :)  I slay myself... or I may have had too much caffeine.  That is a distinct possibility!

And that is what caffeine does to you... stay away from the crack!

*sigh* I know, I can get cold medicine for $1 there! But I really really HATE it there. Wanna see the worst example of human behavior? Go to Walmart.

It's cheap... and the people who own it are practically (if not really) the richest people in the country. Hmm connect the dots :P

You guys....oh man I started watching Buffy seriously last night and I'm kinda in love with it and I'm not even on season two (but I'm close) yes! So excited! Seriously my man and I binged watched it and he and I were like "this is so corny" the first two episodes and now we are "I need this in my life!"
Slight rant ahead that you may skip :D

As a former member of the WalMart employment system I have seen some horrific things.  Funny things too, but  I worked after dark, and let me tell ya, the crazies definitely come out then :)  kids on leashes is the least of it.  Of course, my favorite exchange was

Her: Do you have the Chi hair straightener (hair flip and fake british style accent done badly)

Me: Is it expensive?

Her: Terribly (more fake britishness)

Me: Probably not then.

That's the site that made my Australian friend want to see the place for herself.

I won't shop there because their business practices are horrible and they treat their workers like crap. But I'm lucky; I have other options. Other families don't.

Yay! Buffy is such a good show!  :D

As a random aside, I was at a trauma-informed counseling seminar today and I thought of you.

...That came out sounding really awful.  :P

And now, since I have sincerely over caffeinated myself... I am going to go play DA2 all night long and finally romance Isabela for the first time!!  You'd think I would learn... sadly, I never do :(  (single tear on cheek)

Excuse me? I could make the same damn blanket statement about your own country. What you said wasn't very nice.
