Yeah, like that final mass blood spill and act of violence finally tipped things over the edge enough to open the veil. Hell, didn't the old Tervinter Magister's sacrifice hundreds of people to get into the Fade and storm the Golden City? Maybe that's what the central antagonist has done again, but on an immediate level all at once?

Aaaand, recall that meta post on Tumblr about how lots of death and blood could cause rips in the Veil... and one of the writers tweeted about how right on it was...?

It took half the lyrium in the empire and it was actually thousands of slaves put to the slaughter.

And yes, I bet it's very similar to how the Veil rips in DAI. All they had to do was manage to set off the lyrium (wouldn't take much magic or anything, just actual knowledge of the lyrium in the mountain) and their work is done for them.

Right on! AND they also needed a lot of lyrium to do it, which is perfect because that area where the Sacred Ashes is filled to the brim with the stuff, Oghren said as much!

It's true. It is what happened at Soldier's Keep as well as during the Qunari Wars. The veil was actually ripped because of so much magic and death.

And I bet there will be thousands at that peace gathering from all over Thedas, too!

It's amazing how all that stuff in DAO is now coming back to haunt us.

Yeah..it's kind of shaky. Granted, I do think they exist in some form, both the Knight Vigilant and the Knights Divine.

Personally, I think the Knight Vigilant is out, replaced by the Knights Divine #GoGoRetCon... but then... if the Knights Divine are the ones running the day to day operations of the Order for the Divine, even if they're underneath the Lord Seeker, you'd think they would have been at that meeting with the 15 K. Commanders breaking the Accord, since they must be *above* the K.C.s.

AAAARRRGGGHHH!! I've started... and I can't stop... Templar Hierarchy? Y u no make sense???

True. It could be both. The lyrium explosion thins the veil, and when the people die, it rips the Veil to shreds.

This kind of makes me wonder,If this is indeed the case would a massacre be required for every veil tear that is opened or did our adversary, pretty much like us through the initial tear, gained the ability to open tears in the veil instead of closing them?

I think that since we will be dealing with a lot of those people in DAI, the hierarchy will be hammered out for us.

He could just retcon it to say that different areas refer to that title as different things.

I think that this initial Veil rip is expanding and is a sign of the Veil itself actually beginning to fall, which explains the many different tears opening across Thedas.

And like Yavana said, when there was no Veil and DRAGONS ruled the skies...

Interestingly Cameron specifically says in the GI article that we were "pushed into the Fade". See, now I'm wondering if maybe a temp companion pushed us in to save us from being killed in the blast.

... I bet it's a bloody childhood sweetheart/friend or feckin' family member/mentor who does it. Dammit BioWare, why you kill all the pretties?!  :(

After it's mission accomplished, perhaps.

I can't imagine they'd be focusing too much on the schematics of who or what faction they fall under when the world is on the brink of destruction. It's like the Inquisitor says in the trailer: "whatever we were, we are now the Inquisition".

True, altho it makes me wonder if we chose to got the chaos route... will that mean that everyone will die tho in order to  rebuild something new? And maybe get rid of the oppression of the mages and such? Personally I dislike those type of scenarios, like i don't want my party members to die, nor my protagonist in order to make a big change on the world.. and certainly don't want Cullen to die in the name of "sacrifice"  for a better cause, yes i know im lame and like all sunshine and rainbows and happy endings and such... but i just cant bring my self to do it...  hopefully there will  be some sort of compromise that we can acheave that goal without too many losses...

weeell... he could retcon it however he likes, but the knight vigilant was specifically named as ruling the order "from the glittering White Spire." I was at the White Spire, man, and there was no Knight Vigilant. Unless he was also invisible and hanging out in the dungeon with Cole. ;)

I didn't take that chaos option to be a bad thing. I mean, chaos always occurs when you overthrow something or make big changes to anything, so I took it to mean that the chaos leads to rebirth in terms of ridding Thedas of the old ways and trying out something new.

For example, this thread is new and it's chaotic, but it's by no means a bad thing!

In this case, I believe Chaos could be synonymous with change...I can't help but think of both Morrigan's and Flemeth's quotes on that theme.

Well, that would be quite the dilemma!Hopefully there'll be a option so that people who prefer happy endings could pursue a more agreeable scenario, without sacrifices and drama.

I agree that big changes are coming... but they've also said something about the mage-templar war won't be a focus, so I don't think we'll suddenly find the world mage peace or something.

But, I also don't think the ending will be doom and gloom. Something DG has said... as well as the ME3 backlash just makes it seem to me that we'll definitely have some strong 'happily ever after' options.

I hope so! They can even make this option really hard to achieve i just want a happy ending as a choice...
