I like that. That's sorta what I was imagining. The Chant of course talks about this... but the verse was later struck from canon.  :bandit: Dun dun dun.

The Old Gods will call to you,
From their ancient prisons they will sing.
Dragons with wicked eyes and wicked hearts,
On blacken'd wings does deceit take flight,
The first of My children, lost to night.

-Silence 3:6, Dissonant Verse

Nice catch R2!This particular verse is both creepy and fascinating!
I wonder in what way lyrium is associated with the old gods, and the old gods with magic respectively, but this is a rather long discussion.

Or maybe pushed meant knocked? I love this.

Or building on my pet theory: we were indeed there catering the event when the explosion happened....and then...a stampede of ppl were running trying to get away from the explosion and we got shoved into...a low hanging Veil Tear  . Along w/our signature Cumberland Cucumber sandwiches and a platter of Deviled Eggs--spiced just right w/ a special blend of seasonings straight from Par Vollen.

what?

Catering malfunction. #semiconfirmedrumor

It's about the Old Gods singing to the magisters... but it's about the Old Gods being locked away. So before the magisters broke into the Golden City.

I wonder why this place was tagged with that quote....Old God prison?

Then that makes me wonder how Fen'Harel (I will bet money that he's real) fits into this. I mean, it's we have had hints here and there about him.

TBH, I still don't know much about him, but I've heard it suggested that he might be an  Old God.

A lot of theories actually depict him as Flemeth, since he is known as "The Trickster" and there is more that I would tell you but...spoilers

Indeed, it's very curious. I mean, who knows, maybe we'll find another Old God prison?  But that sounds a bit Blight-worthy, you know?

Perhaps we get close to this Old God, even though it's not awakened. Either that or it might be where another Ancient Magister is imprisoned.

Redacted. You really need to finish that book.

Or perhaps to keep something worse in...

It makes me wonder, what if the Old Gods that slumber underground are merely their physical bodies, while their minds are trapped within the Fade, likely in the Black City? And this would also explain why the Tevinters wanted to get inside the Black CIty where their consciousness reside, planning on either freeing or controlling their Gods. And if the Tevinters were turned into the first Darkspawn, this would explain the Call and why they are solely driven to seek the Old Gods out and awaken their mortal forms.

I'm telling you,If the writers were even a little inspired by the Norse god Loki also known as the trickster,in order to create a deity like Fen'Harel,it would certainly make the theory about him and Flemeth being the same entity more plausible to me,and would also make me wonder about Flemeth's role in the events of the inquisition.

That begs the question, what created the Taint and who cursed the Magisters with it?

At the end of the day, I believe Flemeth isn't the bad guy, though her methods are certainly questionable.

Avernus mentions that it's alien and even the Demons he consorted with don't know what it is, so...

As for Flemeth, I doubt she's Fen'Harel, my money is more on her being the Lady of the Skies that the Avvar's worship.

So maybe what the old chantry feared was the power the mages may have to open the veil and free the old Gods?

Yup.
It's possible he got promoted to a better position at some point.

justinia knows Cullen because Leliana knew Cullen when he was in Ferelden. In my playthrough she was with the Warden and Wynne when he was rescued. Even if not there Lelianna would have heard about what had happened. Obviously Cullen is a man of strong faith and character to have withstood all the torture and abuse he received. Leliana was also in Kirkwall prior to the end game and likely did some recon then for the Devine. So it is possible that the Devine knew of Cullen before he helped take down Meredith.

I wonder if Leliana took Cullen back to Orlais with her (in other words recruited him) when she and Cass came to Kirkwall in the aftermath looking for Hawke. Cullen could provide good intel about the training and tactics of templars (including Red Templars) as well as how to deal with Abomin ations, so hevwould be a valuable assest to them as some Templars are leaving the Chantry.

I still think there's a connection between the Old God of Chantry and the Elven.....Creator Spirits/ I forgot what Merrill called them. But that whole story w/ both side being tricked by Fen Harel, and being locked away. Some underground. Some...in the skies?

Not connected, but why did Dumat deceive the Magisters? Corypheus says when they got there it was already Black...or implies that. Sum have said it was instant transformation, which I can see being the case. But overall something does not pass the whiff test here.

I get the impression that the magisters were used for something. Led on a merry chase. And remember the Old Gods first whispered into the ears of the humans. It's like the human tribes brought these Old Gods there.

And Gaider said something once abt the Old Gods..were not created (i think he also said they were not a part of the Creator's plan?) I'm fuzzy on that part, but I remeber him saying the old gods were not actually created. Did he mean they were  not created by the Maker? Or....?

I agree, although to be honest I'll need to play inquisition(and who knows what else)to say that for sure.

Even if she was indeed Fen'Harel, being a trickster wouldn't automatically make her a bad guy,it'd certainly make her "grey" though since as you said her methods are definitely questionable.

Hold up. The Magisters broke into the city long before the Chant came to be. The Chant came during Andraste's time, which was after the First Blight.

I'd say it's more a cautionary tale for mages, since that verse and the Chant came after the Old Gods were freed.
