Yeah. Four big things I could never do in DA2:

1. Give Fenris back to Danarius

2. Give Isabela to the Arishok

3. Kill Anders

4. Side with the templars

No matter how much I tried to role-play. I wonder if there will be some DA:O similar situations. Forcing Cullen to take red lyrium would definitely be one for me.

LIKE!

For me it's pretty much only number one I can't do since I do 3 and 4 quite much in DA2 ^^; Oh but there is another what I cant' do: I can't slaughter the Dalish clan in DAO so I never got the one achievement unlocked.

I only never did the first two. But I wanted to do the second one, but I didn't get Isabela's approval high enough for her not to be betray me so I could betray her. Lol.

Yeah, I just think the writers could do a lot with him to make the issue personal for us. They could make the issue very black and white "red templar bad, Cullen goooood" -- but they almost never do that. :/

Think a lot of it could depend on when Cullen decided that his path would diverge from most of the order, too. If red lyrium became a thing before the split from the Chantry, or if it was something the higher brass got to try out before the rest of the Order....

I don't know. I just think there's a lot they could do with it. :)

Do I think Cullen thinks red lyrium is a great idea and that the red lyrium templars are the best thing since The One True Pantaloons? Nope!! ;D

Especially if they decide to make lyrium addiction a Big Deal in this game, which could fit with the Red Lyrium storyline. Perhaps Cullen tells the rest of the Order about Meredith, and accidentally triggers the Red Templars, who view Meredith's psuedo-magics as a way to become as powerful as the rebelling mages. Then he feels responsible for them.

Oh, so many ideas, so little time!

But wasn't it red lyrium that make Meredith and Bartrand go insane?

Yeah, my thought exactly. I was under the impression that red lyrium was doing very bad things to your mind. And the gameplay prev showed red templars to be out of control and simply dangerous.

I did all but the first. I couldn't figure out a character who'd pal around with Fenris for ten years and then sell him. That felt very odd. Not for the amount of money they'd get, anyway.

So getting Cullen to take Red Lyrium and possibly go insane? I'd do it. Easy.

It definitely was. But I'm just not sure if Cullen or anyone else besides Cassandra really knows what red lyrium is by the end of DAII.

Cullen knows that Meredith had a glowy red sword. He *might* know that it was made from an idol. He *might* even know that it came from the Deep Roads.

He could easily just blame "some foul magic" on what happened to her. Cassandra only knew about the weird lyrium years after it happened, and that was by interrogating Varric.

So if Cullen's superiors say "Good news, son, the Maker's blessed us with an even more powerful weapon against apostates and demons".... I just don't know, you know?  He follows orders. That's what templars do.

I can't even come up with a good reason to do that. It's silly, just pointless evil, in my opinion.

The dialog is set up though so that unless you're meta-gaming, Hawke really doesn't have any control over the situation.

I've never been able to give Fenris to Danarius, just couldn't do it. I have sided with the templars once, and it was a pretty good ending. You can even get Anders to not abandon you when you do it and you can at least spare som mages.

In one playthrough I gave Isabela to the Arishok and in one I killed Anders. I felt very, very bad about it afterwards.

VIVIENNE: What? A little bedazzling never hurt anyone.

OMG, this idea is amazing! And scary!! I like you. :D

Cullen could have reported the thing and started it all.... geez. Never once thought of that. The Chantry could still see petrified!redlyrium!Meredith in the Chantry courtyard, but without knowing what happened with Hawke's expedition, how would anyone know it was because of something no one ever knew about like red lyrium?

We make the easy mistake of assuming characters have all the knowledge that we as the player do. Cullen almost certainly doesn't even know what red lyrium is at the end of DAII -- just that Meredith's sword made her go wacky.

I know, I know! But I just canNOT get a Hawke to say, "I totally agree, Meredith, let's go murder some innocents!"

Yep. I don't get how killing Zathrian and helping both werewolfs and elves isn't siding with werewolfs when the werewolfs wants exactly that and are really suprised if you propose killing dalish since that wasn't even their plan ^^;
