OMG, this idea is amazing! And scary!! I like you. :D

Cullen could have reported the thing and started it all.... geez. Never once thought of that. The Chantry could still see petrified!redlyrium!Meredith in the Chantry courtyard, but without knowing what happened with Hawke's expedition, how would anyone know it was because of something no one ever knew about like red lyrium?

We make the easy mistake of assuming characters have all the knowledge that we as the player do. Cullen almost certainly doesn't even know what red lyrium is at the end of DAII -- just that Meredith's sword made her go wacky.

It would certainly make him important enough to recruit, ya?  :D

Yep. I don't get how killing Zathrian and helping both werewolfs and elves isn't siding with werewolfs when the werewolfs wants exactly that and are really suprised if you propose killing dalish since that wasn't even their plan ^^;

Yeah, it's just weird. I won't be importing any world state with the werewolves still around so I won't ever have to deal with that nonsense again hopefully.

But yes, that Cullen. Interesting guy. Hope he's a companion. Still think he's got a chance to be honest. Haven't been wrong about Cullen yet, iirc.

It definitely was. But I'm just not sure if Cullen or anyone else besides Cassandra really knows what red lyrium is by the end of DAII.

Cullen knows that Meredith had a glowy red sword. He *might* know that it was made from an idol. He *might* even know that it came from the Deep Roads.

He could easily just blame "some foul magic" on what happened to her. Cassandra only knew about the weird lyrium years after it happened, and that was by interrogating Varric.

So if Cullen's superiors say "Good news, son, the Maker's blessed us with an even more powerful weapon against apostates and demons".... I just don't know, you know?  He follows orders. That's what templars do.

I don't know, didn't he at least overhear Meredith pointing at her new shiny sword and going all "this is pure lyrium"in front of Hawke and Varric who comment on it as well?Or observe lyrium-petrified Meredith, after the battle was over.I don't think he'd look forward  to it even if the chantry forced him.

I could see Cullen on a mission to fix the red lyrium mess that he either feels partially responsible for starting, or just being determined to wipe out the red templars because they're a blight and an insult to the Order he used to believe in.

And especially if we find out he's taken it or know something about a cure.... so much good stuff that could be happening there. :)

On the topic of making "evil" choices in DA, that's why I especially always loved my DA:O dwarf playthoughs. You didn't have to be eeeevil -- just ignorant and pragamatic. Like "what's wrong with letting the werewolves have the forest? No seriously. This is a real question. They're ready to help us! What's wrong with choosing them? I don't understand surface politics!!!!"  XD

Well if Cullen is still being so oblivious in the end of DA2 than in the beginning about mages I don't think he will notice anything XD

I totally don't remember that! You could definitely be right. :)  But it's Cullen -- I love him, but he's not the sharpest tool in the bunch. He couldn't have just imagined that red lyrium was a thing anyway. if he had, he would have reported it and Cassandra would have already known and wouldn't have been so surprised, right?

But anyway, it's probably sounding more and more like I *want* Cullen to be on red lyrium, and I don't. I'm just saying there's always a possibility, and it's fun to think about -- as long as the thread majority doesn't take offense. :)

I agree with the good chance part. Every day I speculate and get to the point that I don't think he will be a companion, and then I wake up the next morning and think, "Nah, he's still got a chance."

I have one save where I have werewolves. Just did it for the achievement though haha.

No I think I've toughened them up with my ponderings and speculations.

Hey guys, just coming out of lurk-mode here to join the party :D  Going back a few pages, does anyone think we might meet him in the mountains?  His early concept art looks quite bulky and warm, especially with that fur think around his neck.  What's everyone else's thoughts?

Well, even though it's not something I'd like to see either mainly because the poor guy has been through a lot already,It'll definitely be an intriguing possibility that will offer a very interesting story-arc,even though I can see it ending pretty badly for him though.

FFS, this thread now jumps 70+ pages per day... no way I can keep up that pace... maybe it's better for me to back out and get back to the DA2 thread.

Yeah, I'd like to see Cullen join the Inquisition, fall madly in love with our Inquisitor, have that love returned, be blissfully happy and cheerful even, and accomplish something amazing in his 30's/40's that he's proud of forever, and then retire and raise a happy family and die in his bed happy from old age with his loved ones around him. :)

.... but we all know that David Gaider, at least, won't let that happen. :(

Still he's only the third most sadistic amongst Inquisition's writers, iirc. Cullen'd be lucky to be written by him.

As long as our first time in bed with him isn't in the Deep Roads. ;)

How do you confuse a blond? Tell them to sit in a corner of a round room.

How does a blond confuse you? They come back and said they did it.
