So far I am really loving The Stolen Throne! I will probably skip Asunder because from what I have read about Cole, I'm not sure I could relate to him as a main character. Oh well, hopefully in Inquisition I will get a better introduction to him.

 

You should realllllly read Asunder. Like now. it will help. Especially if that IS Cole in the last supper photo.

 

Agree with ilikesocks and gala... Not that you're asking for opinions, but out of all the books and comics (with the caveat that I'm only halfway through TME), Asunder is the one I would say not to skip, particularly if you're prepping for DA:I. And, Cole is not the main character, he's just an important and complicated character.  /end unsolicited two cents

I'm currently reading Asunder for the first time at the moment and is it strange to say that I'm so far finding Rhys' character more engaging than Cole's?

My headcanon is that part of the reason Wynne stayed away for so long is because she'd developed a mother's pride for the Warden, and after meeting Rhys, felt incredibly guilty that part of her was subconsciously playing favourites between the two)}

 

Of course, I'm only at the part where they've reached the Adamant Fortress and Cole's not appeared enough yet to pique my interest. I really should just sit down and finish reading it, but I keep putting it down to try and rush through a dozen playthroughs of DAO and DA2, so I can get my saves for Inquisition ready.

I find male Hawke funnier than female Hawke. I don't know why but the charming/funny lines are delivered better

OMG hmm probably shouldn't have revealed it but couldn't contain my excitement

I can think of a lot of fics that compare it to that of alcohol or drug abuse, but I wasn't sure if it was ever actually officially described. Aside from whats-his-face at the chantry in Denerim.

I've literally just watched it! I love how Bella looks in Sims 4, (and that she's back in general)

Wow! Congrats! I was going to say we already had a female protagonist, but then I realised it was Bloodlines where that was possible. Was GE in Redemption too? Because then the coolness would be upped by at least a factor of a million.

I'm not sure if the templar in Denerim was in lyrium withdraw, since he still was a templar I'd think he's still taking it and his current state was cause he has been using it so long? Hmm I'm not sure but I don't think there has been ever lot of talk about lyrium withdraw in the game.

It would be an interesting early game mission to help him with a lyrium withdrawal. Or at least to see him go through changes through the game as he's taken off it. Or maybe he won't go off it, maybe he'll have a secret supply   OR if you find some in a location he demands that the keep there is military for..you know...military things..but really it's so he can go get lyrium.

It was described in codex and a bit in Asunder. Evangeline says that without lyrium she would go mad in about a month. And it makes me pessimistic. And I think I read somewhere that there were no cases of people being cured from the addiction. But I'm not sure about that, it was years ago. And I lost most of my bookmarks since then

Lyrium has its costs, however. Prolonged use becomes addictive, the cravings unbearable. Over time, templars grow disoriented, incapable of distinguishing memory from present, or dream from waking. They frequently become paranoid as their worst memories and nightmares haunt their waking hours. Mages have additionally been known to suffer physical mutation: The magister lords of the Tevinter Imperium were widely reputed to have been so affected by their years of lyrium use that they could not be recognized by their own kin, nor even as creatures that had once been human.

It'd be ten times worse than another rl substance abuse. (Think his name is) Samson from DA2, is constantly pained and suffering from lyrium withdrawal because the symptoms just don't go away like they would for a regular addiction. Nor do the cravings. So even though the lyrium is a slow deterioration, possibly making his PTSD even worse, I really hope he's still on the stuff.
