It would be an interesting early game mission to help him with a lyrium withdrawal. Or at least to see him go through changes through the game as he's taken off it. Or maybe he won't go off it, maybe he'll have a secret supply  OR if you find some in a location he demands that the keep there is military for..you know...military things..but really it's so he can go get lyrium.

Hiding his lyrium addiction? Tsk tsk, Cullen!

It was described in codex and a bit in Asunder. Evangeline says that without lyrium she would go mad in about a month. And it makes me pessimistic. And I think I read somewhere that there were no cases of people being cured from the addiction. But I'm not sure about that, it was years ago. And I lost most of my bookmarks since then :(

The part from the codex:

It'd be ten times worse than another rl substance abuse. (Think his name is) Samson from DA2, is constantly pained and suffering from lyrium withdrawal because the symptoms just don't go away like they would for a regular addiction. Nor do the cravings. So even though the lyrium is a slow deterioration, possibly making his PTSD even worse, I really hope he's still on the stuff.

I didn't think it was that bad D: Omg, poor Cullen and other templars : <

I so need to read Asunder. :(

Samson! That's it!

All of this makes me feel pretty dreadful, yeah. Hopefully he won't be off of it....and hopefully he won't be on the red. *shiver*

I'm not sure if the templar in Denerim was in lyrium withdraw, since he still was a templar I'd think he's still taking it and his current state was cause he has been using it so long? Hmm I'm not sure but I don't think there has been ever lot of talk about lyrium withdraw in the game.

There was a templar in Howe's dungeon, the one who caught Jowan, but then was captured by Loghain's men. Ser Irminric. He looked pretty mad, but I think he got better after we rescued him? I don't remember that part well.

I think he got lucky he wasn't in the Tower when blood magic happened.

The more I think about it the more it makes me feel bad...but at the same time I want it to be true so bad c____c the more times this game can make me feel for it's characters the better.

I'm sure he's not on the red stuff. Then he would be the enemy, right? But yeah, Asunder makes me feel really bad for him. I want to help :(

True! I've been playing devil's advocate every chance I can and just pondering, ridiculously pondering, what it would be like if he is with the Red Templars. I'm sure it's not the case, but only because most of you are so firm in saying it's not possible. But if we know that it would probably be impossible for him to survive without lyrium, and so many of us are quite certain he's no longer a Templar at all, it just makes me wonder what he is.

But anyway, I'm tinkering with my fic and it's about a sans lyrium singing Cullen, so I wasn't sure how to realistically paint this verbal picture.

These are pretty Cool news Adela!!!Congratulations!!! :D

yes it is!!! Im soo excited!!!

Omg, where do you work?

And Cullen on-topic attempt....if we're going with the assumption that Cullen is off lyrium (or in the process) for DAI, do we know anything about how lyrium withdraw works at all? I can think of a lot of fics that compare it to that of alcohol or drug abuse, but I wasn't sure if it was ever actually officially described. Aside from whats-his-face at the chantry in Denerim.

I just found a job for this super tiny start-up company called "Envision"  at 1st we were gonna do this wanna be MMO  survival game based on Greek/roman times, but I guess the "CEO" of the company knew some of the devs from Troika and called them in today for some advice and this happen!!! :D

So on Monday we are gonna have a "big meeting"  about how we are gonna do this, and some  "legal" straightening  because from what i heard Troika is no longer a company but they wanna make sure that they can do this without any legal issues or anything like that. Its weird tho Ive heard about  movie remakes but never of game remakes... so im curious how this is gonna go down.

If we get everything good and ready to go after that we will be putting out the game on Kick-starter or whatever that website is called cause right now the budget is pretty low and we dont have  a publisher

I've literally just watched it! I love how Bella looks in Sims 4, (and that she's back in general)
Wow! Congrats! I was going to say we already had a female protagonist, but then I realised it was Bloodlines where that was possible. Was GE in Redemption too? Because then the coolness would be upped by at least a factor of a million.

Dunno if he was in Redemption... now i want to check it out lol But if he was im gonna pee my pants

OK sorry for being off topic  CULLEN IS AWESOME

Oh my gosh, that is SO cool. One day I'll have to sweet talk you into giving me advice on how you got your foot in the door in this industry. I've been trying to for years. No feet in doors, more like... fingertips scraping brick.

And yes, he is!

Completely off topic but I have to ask your opinions. Do you think we will get a manor in Val Royeaux. I know it's random but it would be nice to get a mansion as a base in a giant city. :)

I found the video of this poor guy suffering from lyrium withdrawal. Alistair even talks about the signs here, look. From 8:56. This may help you. But it's very sad to watch. :(

@Adela, I'm very excited for you! Good luck to all of you with this project!

What about Iminric? The Templar in Howe's dungeon? Alistair said he was in withdrawal stage, didn't he? I can't remember.

So far I am really loving The Stolen Throne! I will probably skip Asunder because from what I have read about Cole, I'm not sure I could relate to him as a main character. Oh well, hopefully in Inquisition I will get a better introduction to him.

You really need to read it. You don't have to identify with Cole. You're gonna be missing A LOT of context going into DAI if you don't read it.

I believe we will get one, possibly as a gift from Celene if we gain her favor.

I haven't given it much thought, but now you've said it, I really want one! Doubt it'd be something on the base game though, but maybe if we get a Citadel-style DLC.

I'm currently reading Asunder for the first time at the moment and is it strange to say that I'm so far finding Rhys' character more engaging than Cole's?

I wouldn't say it's strange at all! Cole evokes... let's just say a variety of reactions in readers... particularly as the story advances. Personally, I pity him even while he gives me the heebie jeebies. Evangeline is my favorite character.

I'm half way through Asunder now and I have to say the book is really good. Rhys seems to be my favourite at the moment, close second is Evangeline. It's well written and the story is good <3 Can't wait to see what happens next!

The part from the codex: <lyrium text from wiki>

Adding to this, there's also a rather touching description of the mental effects of lyrium craving in WoT, written as an account from a templar. Pretty hard core stuff.

I'm sure he's not on the red stuff. Then he would be the enemy, right? But yeah, Asunder makes me feel really bad for him. I want to help :(

Agree. I can still think of plausible scenarios for him to end up using the red lyrium, but none that fit with what we've seen of the new game set up. I think from everything we've seen, those who take red lyrium == bad guys and Cullen seems pretty clearly to be part of the Inquisition.

In hindsight, I actually enjoyed TME more, cause I felt it was a much more enjoyable story, and plus the tie in to DAI is SO MUCH MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN ASUNDER.

I would be fine if it was a DLC but It would be an awesome feature if it was implemented in the game
