You'll be going about your Inquisitor business, and perhaps try to hit on someone, and Alistair will just show up. He'll just nudge you out of nowhere, all, "Have you ever licked a lamppost in winter?"
He just shows up, hands you a rose and says that it reminded him of you.
"But I don't even know -"
"Shhh yes you do"
oooh what have I done.

Man I just watched the TS4 CC preview... pretty nice, but once again, why are video games afraid of giving men long hair?!??!?!?! Urrrrgh. I really hope DA:I does not do this. I mean, firstly it would be great to have long hair period in the game. But now, if you're going to give it to women, why not the men?! Especially in a frigging fantasy game. Hello, BW devs, have you ever met a guy named Legolas?! Fantasy guys can and do have long hair. Hmph.

<Insert eighteenth version of R2's arguments that Cullen's circles are an indication of his suffering and nightmares, not lyrium related, along with examples of other character models with undereye circles that seem to indicate a range of characteristics including age>
Although it's possible.
Sorry
I guess I missed all those. Well, disregard then ![]()

In sims, I agree they needed more long hair styles. I often downloaded the female version converted to men so I had the options.
In DA I think it's more of a clipping issue. But I would love to see some long hair styles....fantasy awaaaay!

Oh... here's an odd thought: why is Cullen the only templar with dark circles under his eyes? Has Cullen been trying to self-regulate his lyrium in-take? Is he trying to wean himself? Hmmm.
Everyone answering although I already noticed how wrong I was.. don't beat the fallen XD (nah it's okay just kidding but I got it already ^^).
I remember Cullen mentioning how he still has nightmares of what happened in Ferelden's circle and with the stress he probaply has being in Kirkwall in position of authority and responsity and being surrounded with blood mages.. I bet he just has hard time to sleep at night : <

I was wondering about it too. Maybe he was trying to lower the dose to avoid bad cravings, but at the same time to make his body accustomed to less lyrium? Maybe lyrium was making his post-Uldred nightmare worse, because it makes the connection to the Fade stronger, and he figured it out and tried to do something about it? Maybe he actually got over his addiction a long time ago, during Broken Circle? I don't think blood mages fed him lyrium. Maybe it was the proximity to the torn Veil during his confinement that took away the side effects of lyrium addiction? I mean (Asunder spoilers)
So maybe Cullen wasn't addicted at all when he served in Kirkwall? ![]()

Lol no. Not being mean. It makes me sad, however, that so few on the forum speak sarcasm fluently. They... They just don't understand me. Or Cullen. And that's okay.

Oh God, no. I've run out of likes! D:
I was just joking around with this one person who returned the sarcastic banter and it was nifty. Then some people thought I was cray cray. No big deal.
I'll behave now. *slumps shoulders*
Naah it's okay, I found it funny too. Especially the fade tear joke.. maybe murder knife could be replaced with it? "I don't like you so fade trip to you! Have fun with the cows!" XD

It's also good to remember that tone is extremely hard to convey over the internet, particularly when there are already certain expectations for Cullen fans. One woman's sarcasm is another BSNer's confirmation of stereotype.

I do wonder how his body was sustained while he was in that cage, wrt food and lyrium. It's an interesting notion that his lyrium addiction would be broken, however, he'd lose his templar abilities if he stopped taking it (imagine here citations for DG saying so and quotes from recent comics on this fact). So, for him to have his abilities later in life, he'd still need it, so... were the demons feeding it to him? was he in some 'physical needs suspended' sort of life support while in the cage? maybe it was only a few days instead of the weeks and months he imagined? was his addiction broken, and he just started taking it again later? would it feel different in that case? questions...

We are not sure about Evangeline, cause we only see her for about two seconds
and for Cullen, I think you just need to suspend your disbelief. I highly doubt his addiction was broken EVER. He was also a younger member, so he could have gone longer without needing lyrium, versus a higher Knight Captain like Evangeline.

How? How in Seven Hells did a thread about a guy that had less than forty lines get close to 900 pages?!?
They were really good lines, delivered by a great VA!
Potato already mentioned Samson, but he's the closest I can thinking to being a character who evidences lyrium withdrawal. I think they took great care in crafting his appearance; his face seems pretty haggard and he's got those dark circles under his eyes. What I get from Samson is that he doesn't get lyrium as regularly as he would if he were a templar (since he's getting it on the black market), so he does experience some withdrawal. I think he explained what it felt like to try to get off the stuff; the line is "It just about kills ya." I'm not sure if he's suggesting that he tried to quit and failed, or if he did actually successfully quit and is still suffering from symptoms.
Oh... here's an odd thought: why is Cullen the only templar with dark circles under his eyes? Has Cullen been trying to self-regulate his lyrium in-take? Is he trying to wean himself? Hmmm.
I really like this idea! I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the whole issue is ignored though. With so many things to cover, it might not be as important to the devs as it seems to us. Then again, with the whole Red Lyrium thing, it makes sense for the topic to come up.

Wow, I walk away, fall asleep, then come back and THERE ARE THREE MORE PAGES! Awesome!
As for everyone suggesting for me to read Asunder, I will probably end up reading it at some point seeing as I love Gaider's writing but for now it is not the book I want to read the most. Maric's character development is really interesting me. Thank you though to everyone for your thoughts and advice! I will keep it in mind ![]()

Ok, you have convinced me to read Asunder before I play DAI. I have avoided all EU stuff up til now, but I guess if it will enhance my DAI experience, I will do it.
I just went upstairs and grabbed our copy off the shelves (I work in a big library).

Let me see if we have it in yet!
One of my weird reasons for not wanting to read the EU stuff was that I really really hate the name Fiona (very bad experience with a woman of that name). So I'll have to skim over it whenever it pops up.
