Well, at least you'll have a reason to return to the Keep then. I remember stopping at Hawke's house only when there were new letters, and missing couple interactions with a Dog.

Weeeellll, to be fair. Apparently they said "even spread" at PAX not the actual words 3/3/3. There is a tiny itty bitty amount of wiggle room.

This thread moves too fast, so please - can someone enlighten me, why you fans seem to be convinced, that Cullen is NPC? Has it slipped somewhere at the PAX?

Ok so what has happened is that Cullen has been confirmed as a LI but not a companion by the Devs at PAX and they have also confirmed 'an even spread of classes' in the party. This is generally assumed to mean we have a 3 -3-3 split into warrior,rogue and mage companions. People are speculating that the 3 warrior positions are filled by Cassandra (confirmed), Iron Bull (confirmed) and the Grey Warden character who has been seen both in concept art and gameplay videos. Obviously this leaves no room for warrior Cullen to also join the companion followers.

The most popular solution for this issue is that Cullen fills a non companion role as the Inquisitors military advisor. There has been no confirmation from the Devs that anyone outside of Cassandra, Varric, VIVIANNE and Iron Bull are party members. (Edited for typing the wrong name )

Well I hope Beardy fills the NPC advisor role then instead of Cullen. Beardy is older, wiser, and probably more battle weary. I think it'd make more sense to keep him out of battle.

He doesn't seem that old. I'd say he's in his forties.
And most of our companions aren't exactly young. Cassandra is at least 35. Varric is 40. Cullen is likely 34-35. Vivienne and Solas seems in their thirties. Dorian too. Iron Bull is later thirties/forties.
The only companions who seems to be young are Sera and Cole.

I've heard that one, so... Is it confirmed, as - yes, 3 warriors as a companions, or is it a rumor, that it was confirmed?

Actually in a perfect world I'd love to have both of them in the party, nevermind the 3/3/3 thing.

 

Maybe it's possible we'd be able to bring along a NPC on a specific mission, or maybe Beardy travels with us when we first meet him and then requests to be deposited permanently at the keep later. Anything can happen I guess.

I meant older relative to the rest, which he is, even if not by much. Plus the whole taint thing would make a bit of a difference.

Yup. The codex of the Tethras family stated when his father left Orzammar (8:99), and that two years later Varric was born, which is 9:1. DAI is likely set in 9:41, so he's 40.

Gaaaaah. I am so ready to know if Cullen is a companion or not. Too much information. Too much speculative information. Lots of little things that say to me, "Companion makes more sense", and several big things that say, "NPC is way more likely". eeeeeeeeeeeeehhhh

On a remotely related note to Varric's 40, i remember reading, that the best (most intensive) period of sexuality for a men is 20-30, and for women is 30-40.

I honestly don't know what to believe.
Regardless, I'm happy that he's going to be an important character with a big role. That alone is enough for me.
Plus I'm happy for you guys that get to romance him .

Yep, I think Solas and Sera are also pretty much a given but the Devs haven't confirmed them yet, have they?
