You can't throw a lyrical mud pie like that and then just drop the mic and walk off stage! I curse your dreams with the name game!

On Cullen's name - Cullen Cullen... like some weird birth certificate snafu, accidentally wrote it down twice and now he's stuck with it.

Either that or his folks were really unoriginal.

Why is this coming up again? No one ever said "Never go off topic and no fun for you!" Of course it's going to to go OT on occasion. I think the problem is that it's getting to be more off than on and that is what's going to get the mods to close us down.

@Dirgegun - Cullen's full name is going to be something ridiculous ... like Cullen Mullen

I wasn't trying to be mean, or snarky, or a hater, or a troll, or re-ignite an argument . I'm sorry if it came off that way. I just had some feels. And you know how feels can be.

If it makes you feel better, it's my birthday and I am kinda drunk and am in the process of dyeing my hair purple, so I don't have very much proper word articulation or grammar. So nobody should take anything I say today, very seriously.  :P No really. The last time I was like this, I bought a tarantula. A freaking tarantula. I. Hate. Tarantulas.

Honestly, yes, it came off trollish. Like you had to run in here to tattle on another thread in order to instigate another skirmish. It would probably benefit us as a whole to not get into that kind of mess again. Let's open up a window or something... air this place out.

But sincerely, happy birthday! May your purple hair shine true and you remain tarantula-less!  :wizard:

If that happens, I will name my quizzy Bella. I'll give her a nose shaped nose. Hair colored hair. And no personality. I can completely recreate Twilight in the game!

The no personality part might be hard to pull off. I know there's supposed to be a neutral response option, but I can't imagine it being void of that much personality.

What would Thedas' equivalent of Adonis be? We can call Cullen that every time we see him.

That'd be funny.. but I hope not. I don't like Twilight at all and I don't want Cullen be to even closer sparkling vampire with his name XD

I don't mind it but apparently there is chance that the thread will be closed by mods if it's too off topic : /. So I think we should be careful not to go too off-topic here?

Just to try to close out this topic of, um, off-topic-ness, I think we need to recall that this is the "Official Cullen Discussion Thread" or at least we (I?) intend it to be. Sure, in an information drought we go off topic and with so many people, even one comment from each means suddenly there's a whole page or two of off-topic-ness. That's normal and to be expected. However, I think each of us also needs to try to be part of the solution here.

We've already had someone pop in to ask where they can talk about Cullen, because this didn't seem to be the place. I mean, WUT??? That should not happen. Next thing you know, there will be rival threads popping up to talk Cullen, and the devs don't allow duplicates. If we want our happy place to survive, we all need to be mindful of this.

The chat has been a great solution. I think with that and the not-so-secret Cullen group, we should have enough outlets to keep doing what we do. But, there should be no question of whether or not we try to be on topic, even if we fail sometimes.

/end thread mom lecture

I'm glad we'll be getting Cullen as a companion this time around. I just hope they don't go the "I've become disillusioned with the templar order" route with him. I really would like a proper templar viewpoint since we haven't had one yet in the series. Hopefully to counter-balance the many anti-circle mage viewpoints we've had thus far.

I just hope he doesn't become another Evangeline.

Actually, we don't know (officially) if he is a companion or not. Just that he's in the game and a love interest.  ;)

On the contrary, there's more evidence that he's actually an important NPC advisor instead of a companion.

I don't know if you guys have already talked about this, but I've been wondering about how each of the advisors will come to the 'service' of our Inquisitor. I'd imagine the companions will be like they have in past games, you come across them help them with a problem and in return they 'tag along' and help you. The advisors are different though, the Inquisitor will have to have some trust in them in order to actually listen to their advice but how do they come into our service? Lelianna is already dealing with the Seekers and Casandra so I assume that's how we'll come to know her, but what about Cullen? When does he leave Kirkwall and join in the fun? Or does someone drag him along because he has knowledge that we need? I'm having a tough time imagining the events that lead him to being an advisor.

Hmm questions questions.

Oh, thanks for the info! In that case hopefully he will be a fully fledged companion or at least have a big enough role in the game to get his views across and why he thinks the way he does.

I'm just worried about his character development after the end of Dragon Age 2. I really don't want him to turn his back on the templar order because of the mess that happened in Kirkwall. I'm still worried that Bioware could pull a Cerberus with the Templars and change a grey conflict into a black and white one (I respect that it already is a black and white conflict to some, but I do disagree.) I feel that Cullen leaving the order would hint at that being the case.

I think that we might recruit them by either talking to them or (hopefully) they help us on a mission and join later.
As for when Cullen left Kirkwall, I think he left soon after Hawke left. In fear of being punished.

I can't see Cullen going against templar order or thinking it's not needed etc. but I personally hope he becomes more aware of it's corruption and some systems like tranquility that in my opinion go against human rights ^^; I don't know about Evangeline since I haven't read Asunder so I can't compare with her but overall I'd like Cullen to think of templar order, to not red lyrium part of it, with high value but still not being blind on what is wrong with it.

I'd like to think that he'll still try to live by what the order stands for. But this is the end of the world, so it will probably be tough. I need a story to fill in the gaps between the end of DA2 and the beginning of DAI...right now. We know that the templars rebelled, but to what end? And how many of them actually continued to be templars? does Cullen join the Inquisitor in hopes that other templars will follow in fighting to protect what they believe in?

I think they were already in the team. In the trailer Cass says, "Our soldiers found you," so that means the group of people she represents (Seekers, Chantry, team Justinia?) already has a military force, and Cullen perhaps is the one who keeps it organized and makes sure they do what the Divine tells them. I don't think Cassandra's soldiers are seekers, because didn't Seekers rebel? I haven't reached that point in Asunder yet. So I think Divine was building her own army, and maybe Cass helped with recruiting people, and offered Cullen a place too.
