Am I the only one who does "throw away" playthroughs? I usually just go through the game a couple of times then when I know what's up I make my canon run.

No, I'm only just now doing a "canon"ish runthrough of DA2. I have different scenarios depending on what sort of character I'm playing. I always miss stuff on my first play through of any game, because I'm so excited for the story, I forget about side quests sometimes. I completely missed Fenris on my first DA2 run, and my lady Cousland let Nathaniel Howe hang on my first play through of Awakening.

My first playthrough is canon for me. If the character makes mistakes, well, that's realistic - we all make mistakes and have to live with them. 

That's true. I'm just weird, I guess. For me, my different playthroughs are distinctly different and my version of perfect. I don't mean "it's my way or the highway" but just that my canon runs have to be "perfect" and I don't feel like I'm making sense so I'm going to just shut up, lol. Sigh.

One of my DA2 canons completely missed Isabela. You can bet I replayed that one! She turned out to be his best friend. Just ticking a box in the Keep wouldn't have been the same, I admit.

For like the first 5 playthroughs of DA2, Fenris hated me and Isabela never came back and I was getting so frustrated. That's when I go the 'walkthrough' route but since I'll be playing DAI at launch I won't be able to find one, unless they release an official one from Bioware. I like order, even though from my sarcastic comments I probably don't convey that very well. I'm one of those people who doesn't mind spoilers, and if I'm stuck on something or can't do it right the first time, I'm looking for instructions. I don't like the unknown, it's scary. D: And I always play my games on easy or casual. That's right, I said it. Hahaha! I am so not good with combat, or even care to make combat a challenge in Bioware games. That's what Call of Duty is for (to me, anyway) but don't worry, my boyfriend gives me grief over rocking a 'narrative' playthrough!

I always do my first playthrough on easy/casuall because I want to get lost in the story.  It's only when I go back and re-play it that I kick the difficulty settings up a notch or three. I enjoy the challenge, plus it helps keep the game fresh.

 

The only exception to that rule is when I'm having a bad fibro flare, like I've been experiencing this week. When I'm this kind of exhausted and hurty, it gets very hard to think. So, the difficulty gets set back to easy, or else I put it aside entirely until I can brain again.

It's hard to say what my canon is. The first PT are my fav just cuz it's so emotional. Idk wats gonna happen, and everything is a surprise. Like when Isabela took off....me:omigawd she left. omigawd! Everyone's gonna die! (mind you, this is when I actually thought I could make a difference in the situation).

 

Then "Clunk Clunk!" Here comes Isabela. Me:"Bella! You came back!" Isabela: "This is your damn doing." Me: "Bella! you came back... *single tear*.

 

Or the impact of Anders and the Chantry. I mean, I knew he was up to something, but my god, the scale and magnitude of it. I must have looked like DHMG in the war room. then to decide his fate...there were so many emotions going thru me...I had to put the controller down. Anders must have been sitting on the crate forever.

 

But the second PT, I tweak from what I've learned and it can be very satisfying, very satisfying to mainly save lil pixel ppl's lives.

 

First PT''s are my fav and the most powerful..so they are my canon. And other PT's are satisfying when I can do things more aligned w/what I would like to have happened. so they are my canon, too.

I just don't normally have it in me to play through a game multiple times when there are so many great games I haven't had time to play yet, but I think my first playthrough would end up canon for me regardless. Mistakes and all; it makes me feel like less of a Sue, given my tendency to play everything almost-full-Paragon. I feel like if I replayed DAO I'd feel jealous on behalf of my Amell if I romanced her LI with someone else, for example (especially if I played a Cousland), and annoyed that someone else was being honored for things I think of as Amell having achieved. It would be much harder to retain immersion / suspension of disbelief.

 

Then again, I wasn't very attached to my Hawke, and DA2 went so much faster--that I might consider playing again before DAI comes out, to be sure how I want my canon imports to go.

I have three very different worldstates I'm extremely fond of, and I've played the first two games dozens of times to perfect them. Though, honestly... the Keep is a huge relief! I metagame hardcore, and the Keep will make worldstate creation so much simpler.

Anyway, my first run tends to color what my canon playthrough is, which is why I'm planning on having my first also be a female rogue qunari. I might play around with her personality, though. We'll have to see.

Anyway, I tend to replay the games multiple times, so I end up with a lot of different world states. What ends up being my canon is the run I feel gave me the best feels.

 

I was convinced my canon DA2 character was going to be a female Hawke, but is going to end up being a male instead. Still both mages. Only thing I will change is instead of Fenris as the LI, it'll be Anders. That Fenris romance was more for science and felt awkwardly put with that Hawke in the first place.

 

I will admit I'm having a hard time choosing my canon DAO character. Both are female, but one is an Amell and the other is Dalish. I'm leaning more towards the Dalish char at the moment.

Not yet, But when I asked  David Hulegaard if there is gonna be any more follower Fridays he said that they have something much better planned and it will be revealed sometime this month... so Im hoping that its gonna be something Cullen related as well among the other followers and advisers

Jessica posted recently on Twitter that her mom was having cancer surgery, so my guess is whatever they had planned (if anything) is delayed due to her family responsibilities.
