Whatever his romance is like, I hope there's no 'healing with love/sex' trope that happens. Supporting him is one thing, healing him with magical sex is completely different.
Seeing we're dealing with older characters, though. I'm hoping for a... more mature romance? It's kind of difficult to describe what I mean. *scratches chin*

I really really really hope Cullen is not a NPC 'mance. I didn't like Traynor or Cortez's short, full of nothing romances at all, and would be really sad to know we finally had Cullen and they did that NPC nonsense to us. Reduce him to barely a few spoken words and romping. BUT what gives me hope is GE saying Cullen has a lot of dialog in game and a big part +raunchy/sexy
I don't know about Cortez, but you seemed to be able to talk to Traynor a fair amount. Mind you, it wasn't all "kissy kissy I love you" lines, but even not romancing her I felt like they did a good job of forming a relationship between her and Shep. Cortez felt a bit rushed, but that might just be because I'm sh*t at spacing out when the right times to talk to NPCs and Companions are.

I appreciate the sentiment. The non-follower romances do seem less fleshed out and less satisfying. For one thing, I like to play *all* the romances, so I'd like to be able to appreciate Cullen on the playthroughs when I'm romancing someone else.
Honestly, I would not worry too much. They did not explicitly state "follower romances" before, but they did not explicitly state otherwise. There have not been any non-follower romances before in a Dragon Age game, and they were not well received enough in Mass Effect to make it seem like a viable crossover.

That's right! I'm sorry, I keep forgetting Cullen hasn't been announced as a companion. Pfft. Then he very well may fill an ambassador role if Mr. Gray Warden was in the Pre-Alpha footage - I also forget he was there. XD

Definitely a two-handed Warrior. Also, confirmed as a companion. Also, 3/3/3 party composition. Thus, we're a little nervous about Cullen's companion probabilities. Logically, he's out.

Maybe. Like when we're taking over the Grey Warden fortress, he joins our party to assist. Then once we control it he's in charge and runs our resources from there *cough*leaderofthe RedFist*cough*

I hope Bioware would confirm Cullen's companion or NPC status soon cause I can't take the waiting XD I really hope he's companion since I want to keep him around rather than just talk with him couple times during the game and have couple romance scenes.

I'm basically devastated. All these feels. They built me up about Cullen and just let me fall back on down to the bottom the minute they confirmed Iron Bull, meaning GW is in, Cullen out. :/
Don't be upset. We still get to romance him, companion or no! Plus w/ the amount of dialogue it seems that Greg Ellis has recorded, we'll be getting a lot of chances to talk and interact with him. That's so much more than we ever thought we would get when we first started speculating over his role in Inquisition, just try to focus on that for now

This is the new official thread... v.3.0. The old one is petering out.
Grey Warden Business could be a temporary companion; which is why we saw him in the demo but nothing has been said. Saying that, however, I feel a Grey Warden is needed just because it feels like ALL the factions are getting involved and we'll need a representative from there. Remember the rings? I don't believe they'll necessarily represent companions, mind, but I do feel they represent players on the big ol' chess board, and it's a logical leap to think we'll have a companion from each faction to give us perspective.
Hmm.
DG also made a comment about assuming a particular list of characters were all warriors, so perhaps one will surprise us...
