In DA:O if you play the mage origin (as a female) he's the Templar who has a crush on you, if you play as a male he's just nervous about demons and stuff. Later on in the circle tower (regardless of race) he's the guy stuck in the pink cage that's been tortured for weeks/months. In DA2 he's moved to Kirkwall and has become the Knight Captain, the dude who serves below Meredith in the Gallows. He's the one who sides with Hawke at the end when you battle Meredith and either bows to you (if you were pro-templar) or lets you go (if you were pro-mage). That's the short version, anyway!

I actually have a Cullen related question , if someone doesn't mind educating a poor girl who hasn't read any DA books: Who was Cullen in the games? I have no idea who this character is aside from the picture on the trailer and feel like I'm not being a good enough fan lately. What's his story? Is he mostly from the books? I hear he is in DA:O and DA2 but I have no recollection. For a while I thought he was Bann Teagan (because I'm bad with names, apparently, and hadn't played Origins in a while).

 

He hasn't been at all in the books so it's all about games XD In DAO he was in mage origin. He was at your harrowing and you could talk with him after that in corridor. If you are girl you can flirt him and he gets all nervous and cute ^^; He is rather easy to miss though since you don't have to talk at him at all in mage origins. In Broken circle quest he's there just before boss fight, locked up in magical cage. He's rather angry and tells you to kill all mages there since there is no saying if they all aren't blood mages. You can discuss with him a while. After you have handled bossfight he's with Gregoir and other templars in the lobby. I think he and Gregoir talk few lines there, you can also click him and hear line. Then there is ending slides where there is info about what happened him after broken circle but I think some of that was just rumours and was reconnected I think.

 

In DA2 he's part is bigger, he's one of quest givers. You saw him first time when you are looking for lost templar recruit for his sister and you meet Cullen questioning other templar rather aggressivily. Templar changes into abomination and you and Cullen kill him, then you talk with Cullen, go to do the quest and you return the quest to him too. You see him few times too after that and you can talk with him in the gallows all the time too. In the end of DA2 he goes against Meredith that wants to kill Hawke.

 

I guess that's about it.. I think I got ninjaed many times writing this.. but oh well I post this anyways XD Oh and maybe you don't just recognize him cause he looks really different in trailer? Or then you just don't remember him with games, although many DA players have strong like or dislike towards him there is also many who don't remember him so it's okay ^^

I haven't read Asunder yet but I have heard lot about Cole and he really seems to be intresting character. Last time we had spirit in our group is was in DA:A with Justice so it has been little time : D

I wouldn't call Cole is a spirit per se, but, I also won't say anything else to spoil you XD

Thank you! I've noticed the strong dislike. Personally, I liked the character in DA2. Still don't remember that cage scene. Maybe my memory is getting bad because seeing someone locked in a pink cage doesn't seem like something I'd have forgotten easily.

As a Liara fan, I'm used to BSN negativity.

Yea, I missed him during the origin story, so his babbling about his shameful attraction caught me by surprise during Broken Circle. Shame on Bioware for implying a scandalous relationship without letting us experience it!

This is a good point. All I can think is there must be some kind of approval system that tracks whether or not he likes you, regardless of whether you can see it. Then again... maybe he's even more of a sure thing as an NPC, and he'll like you no matter what...?

 

Given that they at least try to prioritize story over practicality for things like this, I can't imagine them making a character distinguished primarily by his ideals/principles (and maybe in a tertiary way by his having sprinted away from an offer of casual sex) look the other way if the Inquisitor violates those ideals. And haven't they said that even characters who weren't there at the time will know about major decisions you made?

 

In any event, maybe some of y'all will flip tables if someone else hits on him, but I'll flip tables if Cullen's willing to get with a cruel, selfish, or violently/disrespectfully anti-Chantry Inquisitor.

Bioware would have to do a lot of work to convince me that it would be in-character for him to fall for someone who doesn't respect his religious beliefs. I don't mean they'd have to share them, but I just can't see him in love with a person who ridicules them, or who advocates violent acts against them. But who knows what's happened to him and how he's changed in the 3 years off-camera?

here's hoping. I think it inevitably has to be different than our companion approvals (if he's an NPC), since Id be surprised if you could offend one of your advisors into leaving. But I would hope you could offend Cullen into breaking up with you.

i don't believe they said exactly, but I think there's also a difference between "physical" and "mental " age in this case. I thought he was described as late teens early twenties physically.
