Dragon Age: Inquisition will feature nine total party members. Six are known right now: Cassandra Pentaghast, Varric, Vivienne, Sera, Iron Bull, and Solas. It has been rumored that Alistair and the original game's Morrigan could also be featured as playable characters.

These two are my favorites. What do they mean playable

I think Gamespot got it wrong. Gaider made it very clear that Alistair wasn't gonna be a companion. I don't expect Morrigan to become a companion either. They could refer to DLC, but I highly doubt it.

This. They've been confirmed as major npcs but they wont be companions.

Because when I think of whose words to take stock in, I immediately think of Gamespot.

Gamespot can claim what it likes.

I, as they themselves, find it particularly unsupported by actual evidence.

The word of the devs supercedes anything that they state.

I highly doubt they're companions. I could maybe see them being playable in some sort of sequence similar to the Joker one in ME2, but that's it.

I'm pretty sure gamespot just quoted a semi-confirmed rumor as the source for that.

This seems... wrong?

Perhaps they fight alongside the Inquisitor at some point, but I doubt they'll be controllable companions. Temporarily at most.

Pretty sure it's been stated that Alistair and Morrigan will play important roles in DAI, but won't be companions.

Highly unlikely.

Still, have a link to these bit of info, OP?

Well, I've learned that BW and its employees lie about things... A LOT. So I will not say it's impossible until the game is out and people start talking about it.

Also, if Alistair is playing an important role, then does this mean that clearly certain endings you chose would be disregarded? Hmmm

Don't trust gamespot too much, they copy-paste from other copy-pasted articles that have it wrong in the first place and don't bother to fact check. They've done it multible times with Dragon age inquisition news.

Aye. Word of Dev is NO Morrigan companion but that she will "play an important role".

Well... maybe the wandering drunk Alistair has you know... moved on after what... 9 years? I would hope. Or, he won't be around for you. Enter Anora, all Hail the Queen.

If Morrigan is a companion, she will be temporary, secret or avaliable for last hours of gameplay (final boss...).

¿Alistair? VERY unlikely

What is your source for this claim? There has been nothing to suggest anything like that as far as I've seen.

If the game is not a complete downer and these two are in it even if just NPCs, I might actually be interested. I know i don't want another DA2 or ME3. I'll probably watch the ending on YouTube first and then decide.

I wouldn't mind them being companions in some type of flashback DLC.

Seriously doubt Alistair being a companion considering he can die or become a drunk.

This is what precluded Nathaniel from being Sebastian in Dragon Age II. Too many people killed him right off the bat (and Gaider said they couldn't think of any meaningful plot line for him).

As much as I like to have Morrigan as a companion, I don't see it happening.

Really????

That's kinda sad. Nathaniel is a good character and hardly anything like his father.
