Good for you.
i just noticed that the game is actually up for piracy more then a week before i get the game (02.02 here, hopefully this year). Either i want my game faster or piracy to atleast respect launch dates -.-
Guess i am just pissed for not getting it any time sooner.

ME2 doesnt support single core CPUs, that said DA:O didnt eather at first but runs fine for me and most other people posting here. In the above line the last line is on Shader 3.0, and that your sustem MUST support this, if not the game flat out will not run, where with a single core it might run but the FRPS or eye candy will be supect.

Either you've got a pirated version and are coming on here hoping for an explanation as to why your illegally obtained copy won't work, and the answer to this is simple. Go out and buy a legit copy when it officially released..
Or,
You have a legit copy which has been sold to you by a shop before it was supposed to be released. In this case you will just have to wait until the game is officially released, and then see what the forum has to say. Asking for a solution now is pointless because the game has not been officially released and 99.9% of the people on here will not be able to buy/play until at least the 26th (29th in Europe). End of.

I will give you the real reason why it does not work...because EA locks it, it will not start to work for ANYONE (whether you got it early or not) till 26th of January. This is suppose to prevent pirating and to also prevent companies(game stores) from releasing it early. So, wait till the 26th and your game will work.
ummm your wrong
those with early retail copies it works fine (no dlc available however as cerebrus network does not go online till tuesday).

They feeze, especially the PC version. They did the same for Dragon Age: Origins. So don't say I am wrong when I have seen it happen myself.

Crap. It is all back to where it was. Game is not loading again. Damn, what could have changed? I have updated bios and CPU drivers, DirectX, Videocard drivers, C++ redist. , PhysX, and tried to change some graphic settings, tried to start game with ME1 saves and with new character. ITs all the same. My hardware: Athlon 3700+ (2.21 Ghz), 1 Gb DDR1, Geforce 8600 GTX (256 mb). Windows XP sp3.
PS. Rinken its exactly the same as on your screen.
I think the main issue you are having is not that the game itself does not support a single core processor as much as your single core processor is not large enough to handle the job.
Let me explain.
ME2
PC MINIMUM System Requirements
OS = Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor = 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
a 1.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor is the equivalent of a 3.6Ghz single core processor for AMD the numbers are going to be roughly the same. So your 2.21Ghz CPU is maxing out and overloading during Cut scenes and heavy useage as it cannot handle the information the game is trying to give to you. I hope that was not to confusing.

wrong and wrong. First of all, the freezeings have nothing to do with EA or Bioware blocking the game. No offence but thats the most lol thing I've ever heard. People would've played offline if that were the case, or blocked its access to the internet. Second of all, just cause single cores not in the minimum, doesnt mean the game wont run, at all. I sugest you people get more informed before posting replies, cause you sure as hell are not. Bionic Commando for example has the same, (almost) as ME2, and it runs great with 30-40 fps, on single core. Your logic is flawed I'm afraid.
Now, going back to the topic itself, it has nothign to do with the game but it has everything to do with the cinematics. Theres a flaw in the bik videos or the dll, I do not know, but ocasionally the cinematics force the game to freeze every 5 seconds. I've tested it. It has nothing to do with single cores. I've seen this on dual cores aswell and on other games.
My sugestion is to wait for Bioware to get a fix or something I dont know.. perhaps some of you are more knowledged regarding the unreal engine's cfg and might find smtihng in the cfgs..

If it's not to do with having a pirate copy, or an early copy that requires activating, then it's going to be something to do with your set-up... Bioware aren't going to release a game that has that problem on every system are they? It's kind of a game-breaking problem. You need to look closer to home for a solution, and although I'm no tech expert I think it's going to be a problem at your end. The only way you'll get an answer to this is to wait until the official release and see if other people have the same problem, until then, again Occams Razor - it's something wrong with your computer.

I guess we gotta wait for a patch for the binkw32.dll if thats the problem.. pretty sure those freezings happen in winxp.. at least thats what others told me..

If you already can go through loading screen, but still have lag problem, here what you can try:
1. Start game.
2. Wait till "Press any key screen appear"
3. DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING. Wait for intro movie to load, watch it till the end.
4. DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING. Wait for intro movie second time and watch it till the end again.
5. Now when the movie is over and cursor loaded - press any key.
6. Main menu can lag, but when you load game - it should not.
You will probably have lags again after another video (like using jump gate or approaching any planet). In this case just save, quit to main menu and load. (this can take time with lagging cursor, but should help
Thanks for reading.
