So what parts in films have really stood out for you? Just to be clear these don't have to come from your favorite films they just have to be your favourite 3 scenes from any 3 films (or 2 or 3 scenes from the same film).

For me, in no particular order:

Pulp fiction (contains strong language and violence)

(sorry the quality's poor)

Citizen kane

Watchmen (contains strong violence)

Also this deserves a special little mention

Just off the top of my head I always liked this interrogation scene from LA Confidential.

Which one I ask cautiously?

Anyway mine are. WARNING MAY CONTAIN STRONG LANGUAGE.

Goodfellas: What do you mean I'm funny

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King: You bow to no one.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back: I am your Father

I could easily make a top ten though.

I am probably one of the biggest fans of the videogame Driver, this scene from Jack Reacher gave me major flashbacks. Its was glorious.

Only 3?

As soon as I saw the thread title the first thing that sprang to my mind was the tank sequence from The Last Crusade, so I guess that's one of them.

Yeah thats a pretty good scene, but as I said in my post I could easily make a top ten list, hell even a top 20 list would be simple, there are scenes from films like Full Metal Jacket, Gladiator (who doesn't love when Maxmius says who he is) the other lotr films, and don't get me started on films with awesome cgi and special effects, when you first see Gypsy Danger in combat for instance it is mind blowing the kid in me does scream joyously every time I see it, and OMG when I first seen the Iron Man suit and who can forget when we first saw the Transformers, transform and every scene Gollum from lotr is in, is awesome.

I'm going to stop now before I get carried away.

Look I'm just going to leave this here.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

Spoiler

Blade Runner - One of the first names to cross my mind. Though, its been so long since I watched it that I don't actually remember it all that much. Bar the ending.

Grave of the Fireflies - Ending

Yeah... no. Not linking this. The ending was memorable for significantly changing my world view as well as leaving me a teary eyed mess for the following two hours. (Its a film. Its not supposed to do that.) Not risking that again.

Three of mine; these aren't necessarily my top three scenes or even from my favorite movies, but they're scenes that really had an effect on me at the time:

1. The Third Man - I'm assuming the statute of limitations has passed on this one: The whole scene between Harry Lime and Holly Martins. Couldn't find a clip of the whole thing, so here are two notable moments: Dots, and the cuckoo clock.

2. Days of Heaven - The locust and fire scene (poor quality, but I couldn't find better).

3. The Battle of Algiers - Hard to pick one scene from this controversial and politically charged movie, but I decided to go with the bombing scene.

Howard Hawks once defined a great movie as a movie with "three great scenes and no bad ones." Not sure if that's true, but somehow it seemed appropriate for this thread.

McCabe & Mrs. Miller mccabe2.jpg
I couldn't find the exact scene, but my favorite moment of this film is also one of my favorite moments in film. McCabe enters Mrs.Miller's room & the two begin a discussion. (Some backstory: Miller runs the brothel in the small remote town the two of them run.) The neighboring room is occupied by one of her girls and a workman. The prostitute and the customer completely forget about sex, instead the two of them stand together giggling & peeping on Miller & McCabe, who are their bosses pretty much. There are allot of memorable moments in the film, it has a unique look, & fictively depicts a moment in Pacific Northwest history.

The first Star Wars
star_wars_opener.jpg
Biggest moment of my childhood.

Swan Lake, 1981 anime
tumblr_mv58z4zEtg1qdylzoo1_1280.jpg
Another memorable opening. The first anime I ever saw, & probably the first version of Swan Lake I knew. I am angry that I can't find it (legally) anymore.

There are plenty more that are important to me, but I think these three are the most personally significant.

The Battle of Algiers has to be one of the strangest most depressing films I've ever seen. I am in wonder of it. I think it's amazing how many of the people who were involved IRL they were able to bring into the film. And that bombing scene was tragic and incredible. I don't have any connection to either side in that story, but I could not relate to anyone in that film. I don't understand the reasoning behind the violence, and it made me feel against them which is strange because they helped tell the story. That seemed antithetical to the whole victors write history thing, & I can't believe they'd tell a story that would make me see them as wrong. It's a testament.

I have absolutely no idea, but I'll give you 3 gems:

Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, where he says "That was bloody, brilliant!"

V in V for Vendetta, where he has a speech about being a "man in a mask."

Shrek in Shrek, where he compares ogres and onions.

Failing that, 3 scenes where Gingy says "Not the gum-drop buttons!" Interrogating Gingy.
