That and the duel on Bespin were the two best duels of the series, IMO.

Being a big movie-nut and having watched many it's impossible to narrow it down to just 3, but I suppose I can try to pick 3 that stood out for me.

Fight Club - The Revelation

There Will Be Blood -- I've Abandoned My Child

Blade Runner - Tears in the Rain

What I can come up with off the top of my head (more than three, so I'm cheating):

The duelling scenes from The Duelists

Flight Lt. Ellen Ripley putting on the space suit in Alien

Ellen Ripley closing her eyes, taking a breath, and then opening her eyes in the elevator in Aliens  (also, like, every single thing that Pfc. Hudson says)

"The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive." Full Metal Jacket

Riding the nuke in Dr. Strangelove

"I'm ready for my closeup, Mr deMille." Sunset Boulevard

"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve?"  To Have and Have Not

The one-glove strip-tease in Gilda

"Nobody's perfect." Some Like it Hot

A lot of Kurosawa stuff

"Let's go" from The Wild Bunch, and the following from the same movie:

"He gave his word."

"To a railroad!"

"It's his word!"

"That's not what counts! It's who you give it to!"

And more than I can remember.

"Your clothes.  Give them to me." Terminator

Since I have not really watched movies since 2004 and paid attention and many before that date be listed already I am going to go old school.... back to 1985.

The Last Dragon (1985)

Last fight and end gun scene:

http://www.dailymoti...films&start=177

The Last Starfighter (1985)

Best line ever:

The Last Starfighter (1985)

Annoyed human. Period.

Ok I digress- the only thing from 2013 worth mentioning is R.S.:

=======================================================

And for the Honorable Mention:

And they are supposed to be bright?:

https://www.youtube....1FbY7dm0kQ#t=30

NOTE: As to why no SW made the list, let me just say I am not a fan. ST movies as well did not make the list for the fact of too many good scenes to list.

It's like picking my favorite kid man. (Some scenes will have swearing so be cautious.

Spocks Death from Wrath of Khan

The Gunfight from Hot Fuzz (and Hot Fuzz in general)

Unicron Transforms from Transformers The Movie

And let's include some more, just to be fair.

Homura Vs. Mami from Madoka Magica Part 3 Rebellion

GalvaTron kills Starscream from Transformers The Movie

The Mark 2 Test Flight from Iron Man

The Godzilla Dropkick from Godzilla Vs. Megalon

And Finally

The Final Fight from Sword of the Stranger (DAT ANIMATION DOE!)

There are heaps more I could include, Especially from the Star Trek Movies, but these were all that sprang to mind first.

...Ok one more.

THIS scene from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

This is a very hard question. There's so many movies, and so many really remarkable scenes - in their visionary and emotionally impact and beauty.

I just know I can't find, out of my head, my three favorites. I'm going to first pay my regards to a few others' choices already here in the thread:

Haven't seen 'Downfall', but I sure have seen the Hitler breakdown scene. An iconic performance!

The duel in 'Once Upon a Time in the West'.

The dancing dress scene in 'Legend'.

Ripley getting into her space suit in 'Alien'.

"Let's go" and the following in 'The Wild Bunch'.

Very good picks all of them, I think. Scenes which really etch themselves into memory.

For my own contributions, which are just off my head, and probably not my absolute favorites, I like:

The Robert the Bruce -end scene, in Brave Heart: "Now bleed with me!"

So simple, no big words. It's all in the faces of the actors, who all carry themselves so well.

The dramatic and merciless end play in 'The Last of Mohicans'. Kill and be killed.

Alice (Jodie May), when she joins her beloved Uncas (Eric Schweig), is one of my favourite death-scenes. And not a word spoken.

Let's see, what can we else think of?...  I like the openings of both Aiguirre Wrath of God and Picnic at Hanging Rock. I suppose you have to like 'small', 'foreign' movies with "artistic ambitions" (the opposite to Transformers etc). But in particular Picnic totally belongs to the MUST_SEE movies of all time, IMO. It's a very old movie, so quality is poor. It's a mystery movie, without satisfaction.  It's not a happy movie. Rather, it's heart-wrenchingly tragic in a non-sentimental way (no Titanic scene here). But it is an etherial, phenomenally beautiful movie. It tells a surface story of a mystery, and an undertow story of repressed sexuality and an intense, doomed relationship between two roommates in an Australian, 1900 boarding school, the wellborn Miranda and the orphan Sara. I absolutely have to warn you that both roles are played magnificently by two stunning and unendurably lovely teenagers, Ann Louise Lambert (Miranda) and Margaret Nelson (Sara). They're so sweet it hurts to look at their faces. The Miranda and Sara characters dies, but odds are they will haunt you for a long time.

And the opening of Aguirre is also great. The descent into Mato Grosso to the soundtrack of Popul Voo.

But, to be honest, my favorite scene from that movie is the end.

SPOILERS FOR TASM2

This isnt for all time, but I can definetely say this scene was excellent. Time will tell how long it will stay with me, couldnt get it out of my head for 5 days after watching the movie in theatres. Shame the fight with the goblin isnt included, this was the best I could find

Well it seems the video was taken down (no surprise). It is the fight scene with the Green Goblin and Gwen Stacy's death

Three memorable fight scenes from martial arts movies

Nameless vs. Sky in Hero

Yu Shu Lien vs Jiao Long in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

The Three Masters vs The Axe Gang in Kung Fu Hustle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDr1MD2a1aM

---edit---

I posted the following scene to someone in private message and they were amazed by it. Their reaction made me reconsider posting it. The fight scene is more realistic and violent in tone than the ones above, if you are sensitive to this type of cinema don't watch the clip.
