Did not the Gaider state that if he were to introduce characters from the novels into the franchise that he would do so in such a way as to not slight the people who have not read said novels?

Maybe the events will not be so important as the characters themselves.

What he meant was that they won't be expecting people to have read the books/comics or watch the movie, so anything required in DAI in relation to these characters will be explained in the game itself. Having outside knowledge will not change how you can interact with these characters in the game itself, it just add little morsels of lore to who they are.

Thank you for clearing that up :D

I just remembered again that Evangeline can't be THE character if only one comes back from Asunder, because she is dead if a player ticks off Wynne as dead in Dragon keep.

Not so. If Wynne was dead during the events of Asunder, then they would have happened completely differently or not at all. Perhaps Rhys would have died instead. Perhaps nobody died; perhaps they all died; perhaps Adrian would have become a Grey Warden, been impregnated with Pharamond's child and slayed an Archdemon to bring about an OGB of her own.

Note: I also don't think it would be Evangeline. My money would be on Cole and then Adrian, assuming that characters shown or mentioned before Asunder don't count as a "character from Asunder".

This is a good point as well.

I'm hoping for Briala or Michel and Rhys or Adrian.

The PAX mention of ONE character from Asunder has me seriously bummed. I was hoping for a major plot thread where you go to Adamant Fortress and meet important mage rebellion leaders like Fiona, Adrian and Rhys (Evangeline too, of course)

ALSO of course, a major plot thread involving Celene, Gaspard and Briala!

Encountering Michel and helping him take down Imshael would be a cool nod, but not as cool as the above ;_;

I was hoping for about 4 lol, so I feel your pain! But I think Fiona will be in regardless, considering she was also in an earlier novel before Asunder, so don't worry too much about that :)

Do you think Michel could be the guy with the curly mustache???? Maybe he is one of the the last two companion??? Or an arc all his own and we just help him out???

the guy nearest Cassandra!

DHMG? Na that guy's a Mage, but it'd be awesome if he was a companion, I've definitely warmed up to the idea of a Chevalier in the party.

It's this that makes me think Lambert.

Because of Fiona?

I can certainly see Lambert making the cut before Rhys, Evangeline, or Adrian.

That being said I still think at least Rhys and Evangeline, and probably Cole as well, should be in the game if Lambert was in it. He's really ultimately their nemesis, after all. It wouldn't be necessary, but still.

Honestly now that I'm thinking about it I kind of prefer these four not making it into the game. If they were I think it would honestly feel too much like the Inquisitor is just along for the ride, watching their story play out rather than experiencing our own.

I don't feel the same about Cole, though. While Rhys was a very important part of his character development, I feel like he was only part of the stepping stone in Cole's evolution, and the Inquisitor could very well be the next, whether Cole is a companion or NPC.

I hope to see Fiona, of course! She's been a favorite of mine since she was first introduced in The Calling. I'm hoping with her in Inquisition, we could possibly find out if she's Alistair's mother or not :)

I see what you're saying and now I'm conflicted on whether or not I want them lol, thanks :bandit:

I too hope to find that out, my hubby Alistair needs to know who his mother is after all.

She's also a favorite of mine :wizard:

I sort of feel like we wont see Fiona if we're not seeing other characters from Asunder. They're all at Andoral's Reach, so it seems likely to me that we just aren't going there. If we saw one of the people there, it seems more likely we'd see them all, so if we're not seeing almost any of them it stands more to reason, to me, that we just aren't going where they are.

I don't think Cole is possessing Lambert, because the leaked survey made it sound like he was still in his own form. I think Lambert is probably just dead.

I'd say we'll probably get more TME character than Asunder.

I think we have a better chance of seeing Fiona than the others. Fiona is the leader of the mages. Rhys and Adrian are just high ranking members of the resistance, and Evangeline is the lover of a high ranking member of the resistance. If we're taking it for granted that we're going to be meeting Celene and we're going to be meeting Justinia, then I think it's pretty sure we'd meet the leader of the mages, as well.

Also, it just occurs to me; sure, they end the novel at Andoral's reach, but the novel ends two, three years before the game starts, and the templars know where they are. Do we have any reason to think they're still there? They could be anywhere at this point.

Rhys and Evangeline offer interesting perspectives, but not unique ones that can't be duplicated elsewhere. Their opinions on the war boil down to "I didn't want to fight, but after all that's happened, we have no other choice." and "I don't know that this is the right thing, but what the order was doing, that was certainly the wrong thing." It wouldn't be unthinkable for them to work in a couple of characters with similar opinions for us to interact with.

I'm not sure that's the case. Asunder ends before Cassandra and Leliana go to Kirkwall. And Laidlaw said the time between DA2 and DAI was basically travel time which I took to mean between Orlais and Kirkwall and then back again. So months? But I suppose they may have left. They can't have had much in the way of supplies

That's probably true. But there was still something unresolved about him that will drive me crazy forever if he just turns out to be dead.

Asunder ends in 9:38 Dragon, a year after act three of DA2. Every date I've heard for DA1 is either 9:40 or 9:41.

In TWoT it says Anders blew up the Chantry in 9:37, the events of Asunder take place in 9:40 and the last entry in the timeline is Cassandra's interrogation of Varric which also occurs in 9:40.

World of Thedas had a few date errors; it lists Dawn of the Seeker as taking place in 9:20 when they actually took place in 9:22.

I can't tell you precisely where the 9:38 number comes from, and I don't have my copy of Asunder any more, but I'm fairly sure the text explicitly mention that the incident in Kirkwall happened the year before the novel starts. Could be wrong on that.
