Well, they put the wonderful character Mae into the comics, that is a transgendered woman from Tevinter.  DG mentioned that she was written too late to include her in Inquisition, but hinted that they could include her in the future.   

 

I have no doubt though that Scribbles is a woman in the traditional sense.

I think it would be handled appropriately. We already have a Tevinter character who was well-written by Gaider, Maevaris Tilani. And I think there are a lot of cool Dragon Age fans who would be very accepting of such a character.

I think we that 'it's safe to assume in this case that there is no transgendered men or women among the companions or the advisers.

They could be subtle and reveal it discreetly in a codex entry or something.  Only players who actually read through everything would know..... until it gets posted all over the place here, of course.

 

Anyway, I'd hate for Scribble's thread to get derailed and closed due to flames erupting from such a hot-button issue. Especially since this all started from a hypothetical question.

Honestly, because DG said that Mae was the first transgender character he'd even written, and that was after the companions and advisers had been set for this game.  So I doubt he was lying about that.

We've already had a transgender character in the comics.

I am reminded of Star Trek: Gene Rodenberry said he'd have a gay character in the Next Generation. Two decades later and Trek hasn't had one. For some people, it's never the 'right time.'

I've been following their threads and I'm the one that started the Cassandra thread, even on the original DA II forums.

People have accused them of really being men, being mannish, or looking like men. Just as they did Aveline and Morrigan. That's not the same as suggesting they're transwomen.
