So yeah anyway....
I bet Scribbles studied political philosophy at the University of Orlais. What do you all think?

Yeah, I think that's plausible.
Why would Scribbles be transgender?
Why would Scribbles be transgender?
Well.... why not?
I just got off work after thinking all day "Gosh I can't wait to come home and learn Scribbles' name!"
...do we not have a Scribbles yet? ![]()

Not today, I'm sorry.
Honestly, because DG said that Mae was the first transgender character he'd even written, and that was after the companions and advisers had been set for this game. So I doubt he was lying about that.
Well.... why not?
So yeah anyway....

Or the marketing people had something come up and were otherwise not really able to deploy this?
And how hard is it to just said "not happening" BEFORE ?
Why are you assuming that David wrote Scribbles?
I thought that Mae was the first transgender character that BioWare has ever done, and that David was the one to take up the reigns of accomplishing it. I wasn't assuming that DG was Scribbles' writer.
From her wiki: http://dragonage.wik...note-dgtumblr-0
- In Dragon Age: Until We Sleep, it is revealed that Maevaris is Dragon Age's first true transgender character. Although Serendipity appeared earlier in Dragon Age II, the writers envisioned her as more of a drag queen; game engine limitations prevented this from being apparent.
A transgender fan lamented this on the forum, and we felt suitably chastised— because they were right. Our intention was irrelevant in light of the fact we’d erred without due consideration. The question was asked on that thread: “Couldn’t you include a real transgender character? A serious one?” And my answer at the time was: “I wouldn’t include one just to be transgender. That’s a pretty thin premise on its own.” But it did get me thinking: how would I go about it, if I ever did?

Since Mae was written after it was too late to include her into the game, that's why I think that there is almost no chance that Scribbles is transgender. I'm not opposed to the idea, I just think it's extremely unlikely.
I assume that BioWare will have a transgender character in their games, and it's likely to be the Dragon Age team that does it. I'd be all for it if Scribbles was.
I think that would be a great move. Mae certainly interested people.
I think she's an Economics major.
Maybe that's why Cassandra brought her into the fold. She must have stood out in a remarkable way to be an adviser alongside Leliana and Cullen.
Well.... why not?
But what was the thing that made someone assume she was?
But what was the thing that made someone assume she was?
Nah, it was just a hypothetical question.
Someone just asked what everyone here would think if she ended up being trans.
How do you think a political adviser is going to affect the Inquisition? What sorts of leaders do you think she'll have us deal with? Is she going to be useful in the Game? Do you think the delay on her reveal is because they are trying not to spoil the plot and therefore had to re-write her blurb? Is she someone that you could see being a traitor or otherwise deceitful to us, ala Morrigan and Anders? What country do you think she's from, and how do you think we would meet her?
Sure, there isn't a lot to go on, but a lack of a reveal shouldn't prevent us from talking about her in general. There is also some new posters that are also Scribbles fans and might not have read through all 125 pages to see our theories up until this point.
*Raises hand* Hurrah for us new readers
What if scribe girl is transgender? I am a little scared that they maybe going in that direction.
I don't know if the world is ready for that
what do you think?
But what was the thing that made someone assume she was?
Nothing, except that random post by Airell. Scribbles is NOT transgender.
First off, can someone explain to me what a transgender is? Is that where someone is born a man but turned female or vise vera?
I expect that someone other than David will be Scribe Girl's writer.
Oh same here. DG has had his hands full with at least two characters (plus two romances,) so he probably didn't write our poor scribe.
Nah, it was just a hypothetical question.

as far as things this thread has guessed about scribbles goes, her being trans would be fairly mundane lol

I had no idea you knew bioware secrets, did they let you say that or are you breaking a NDA
let people speculate, dude.
Twerk it!
Did someone say twerk it??!!
^LOOOOOL

Personally, it would make me very happy if she were. BioWare continues to be one of my favorite developers because they have a genuine desire to include all facets of humanity.
Seconded, on both counts. ![]()
I also though the use of the word "afraid" was an interesting choice. So, is a well-written transgender character something we should be afraid of all of a sudden? I don't get it.
In any case, I know I'm probably going to find her fascinating no matter what, even if I end up disliking the character's personality in the game. I'm a fan of hers, but that could still happen, no matter how much I might think otherwise right now.

Transgender is can be broken down in many ways. You have the those who believe they were born the wrong gender or have no gender. Then, there are transvestites (cross dressers). And then, you the rarely talk third gender, the hermaphrodite. It is really just a big word used to explain people who do not fall in the male or female box.
You know, I first thought "Scribe Girl" was Vivienne from the early concept art

My apologies. I just don't want someone to spread a rumor that might case a massive sh*tstorm.
