I like the lighten skin it set her apart from Vivienne more. 

Her having dark skin wouldn't make her similar/identical to Vivienne. For example, look at Gabriella Union and Taraji P Henson.

don't think so, so far all the Antivans we've met have had spanish accents and used spanish words and phrases on occasion

(NB to OP: Possibly put this post at the start to explain the skin tone difference? I imagine that the images will probably be added to the inital post as well, and you know people don't tend to read every page - who could expect that?)
