Unlikely to be childhood friends. My guess is that they met after Leliana became left hand of the Divine. That was 10 years or so ago. Plenty of time to form a 'long-time' friendship.

Well i think Warden doesnt dissappeared till toward the end of the 10 years so i mean Leliana and the warden could been friends/lovers till pretty recent when the warden varnishes.

 

 

Id say Josie and Leliana have been friends since prolly be4 she met the warden.
