No, I have a better idea.

Bluedrake should work for us, full-time. I can just picture us looking down from this balcony and yelling: "Write! Write MORE!", and on occasion we will throw cheese into the courtyard where Bluedrake's writing. Or, even better, ham from the Anderfels.

That ham had better be hickory smoked, or else I'm throwing it back!

I dunno about a cat. I picture her keeping a canary or a pair of lovebirds. Something that delights while keeping a distance and also appearing harmless. Cats are threatening, or at least can be. Nope, Josie definitely has a pet bird.

Hmm. I'd be fine with a bird for obvious reasons, and I do think it's a very likely suggestion, but I just can't shake the mental image of her petting a cat. An often lonely animal, soft on the outside but quite manipulative on the inside and using weapons (armored fist under the velvet glove) when necessary. Oh and making a beautiful purring sound as well.

This is why I'm sticking to the bird theory. A cat will scratch whatever is within reach without thought or finesse. A bird? They go for the eyes. If she had to get physical, Josie would go for a single, devastating strike. I'm sure she keeps a poisoned dagger for protection.

Hmm. Do they? Not that familiar with combat maneuvers of birds.
But I don't know about Josephine. I mean, she might go for the quick strike, but I can also see her as the type to hurt rather than kill. Kind of like how a cat attacks a person with its paw to get him/her away from it. You know, staying defensive rather than being offensive.

Anyway, I'm sure the only pet Josephine needs or wants is her quill, and possibly the Inquisitor, implications of my choice of words not intended.
