WHITE WASHING, NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

This is why we can't have nice Things.

I hate the Person who made this. I hate it with all my Heart. It disgusts me and it sickens me that People do such a Thing.

...

If there is a Way to make me angy, this is it. I will refrain from writing more, because that would become ugly really fast.

Oriana: "In Antiva, a woman fighting in battle would be ... unthinkable."
Fergus: "Is that so? I always heard Antivan women were dangerous."
Oriana: "With kind words and poison only, my husband."
Fergus: "This from the woman who serves me my tea."

I don't mind if Josie just comments on the cultural differences, but I don't think there's any need for her to have a problem with it. In fact she could always joke about having a knight in shining armour!  :D

I tend to read Josephine as Indian but I suspect that's because of her concept art.

Her concept art actually makes her look like an Indian Princess, if I may say so myself.

I am a Tamil and the clothes that she wear as well as the headgear, looks a lot like what an Indian Noblewoman would wear actually.

Spoiler

If you darken her complexion and changed the clothing color from red to yellow blue...yeah...can see the similarities...

That would only work if the PC is a warrior. For a rogue or mage PC, I can imagine she would have different things to say. It was mentionned that she is very familiar with Orlesian politics, so a female rogue wouldn't surprise her (bards and all) and a female mage is nothing out of the ordinary.

I would like her to to say something about bards and Leliana if the Inquisitor is a rogue. (my favorite class!)

Well, a rogue would be her dashing rogue.

...No idea what a mage could be. Her magic maker?

Enchanting ? Depends IMO.

If the mage Inquisitor specializes in shock spells, I think she will find the them electrifying and even titillating

If the mage Inquisitor is an expert in fire spells, I think she will find them hot, fiery and passionate

Andraste was wrong really. Magic did not just exist to serve man. Magic existed to enhance the experience of being human...Just like how biotics can enhance the experience with mass effect fields...

And if the Inquisitor is a necromancer... she'll think they're rather grave.

Maybe, while trained for combat if necessarily, the female Crows are used in undercover missions more? I have to admit, I don't remember much about the Crows' lore. I'll have to set myself a goal to re-read all the codex entries and the like before DA:I comes out.

I like the way BioWare made Josephine as well, but you don't have to put down pale skin (and in extension, people with pale skin).

I'm sure us white people are quite fine with our privilege and can handle a few people not catering their attraction to our appearances. With darker-skinned people being constantly derided in their own communities for being worth less than their lighter-skinned counterparts, some positive discrimination is not only necessary, it is wonderful to see.

I wasn't expecting to wake up to... whatever that one picture was.

But since it's been said that Josephine's skin colour is actually darker than in the screenshots we got of her, it makes me wonder why they would even show her in that light. It just seems like a bad marketing move, because when fans see her 'true colour', some are going to be disappointed.
The pictures we have of her raise certain expectations. I've had conversations with people who where extremely disappointed that she seemed 'whitewashed'. Now, I mean that in comparison to her appearance in the War Room screenshot. Other people were overjoyed with the way she looks, but will be disappointed once BW decides to release other pictures of her in a different area.

Now, do bear in mind that I'm not talking about racism here. People liking or disliking how a character looks are not immediately racist.
But yeah, I'm just wondering why the marketing team would release such screenshots of her when they should've known this area was dealing with the kind of lighting that's been pointed out by the devs. And if they didn't know, that just seems like bad communication.

I disagree, basing your liking/disliking of a character on their skin tone alone is indeed rooted in racism and is at the very least discrimination. Regardless, I agree with you - I would have preferred they not misrepresent Sephi's actual appearance.
Although I object to the suggestion that people will be disappointed with her 'true colour' (Potentially implying that they'll be disappointed because she's darker-skinned than they initially anticipated).

Now, if someone had used their talents to put her in a white dress... Dark-skinned people usually look gorgeous in white.

I'm sure Sephi will look gorgeous in any and all colours :)

Well yes... but one can dream... As for her skin tone, which I described as 'sun-kissed' once, well it was a long, lingering, loving kiss. So there.

I don't care how good the photoshopping is, they submitted this crap as "Fixed Josephine". This is a definitive downgrade and its also pretty offensive if you ask me

I don't think the image itself is offensive. Everyone is free to have their own opinions and this person clearly thinks that Josephine looks better this way. Personally I prefer Josephine as she is but I've always had a thing for dark haired women. If I had a thing for pale blondes then I would probably think she looks better this way too.

However, submitting it as, "Fixed Josephine," IS offensive.

When you say "us white people" I'm not sure if you're assuming I'm part of that group or if you are speaking about the group in general.

To clarify, I'm not white myself (I was speaking more generally). I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "positive discrimination", could you elaborate for me?

Do you know the history of that photo? It's kinda famous.

It's a 13-year-old girl in a refugee camp. Her parents were killed during the Soviet bombing of Afghanistan.

Given that literally every Crow we've met has been a perfectly capable (and in Zevran's case, amazing) fighter, I doubt your assertion. Sure, they may prefer to kill quietly when possible, but when it's not, they have no problem with getting messy.
