I wonder if the advisors will have different opinions when picking sides (mages-templars, Gaspard-Celene-possibly Briala),etc.).
On a similar topic, do you think that the Winter Palace plot, with the two contenders trying to find a compromise and be assassination will come up after the Exalted Plains plot?
I'd imagine the advisers might provide their input on certain matters, including conflicts where the protagonist has different options and sides to choose from.
As for the Exalted Plains, you mean with the dilemma that has halted the fighting in the region? Possibly, especially if there's an option to choose a third party, like Briala's pan-elven faction, or the nearby Dalish who are mentioned as residing in the Dales. If it's similar to the last two, I imagine working against the interests of the human factions could be brought up. Maybe it could be like the Terrifying Presence perk used when confronting Caesar:
Caesar: You're the courier who's caused so much trouble for my Legion, and yet you dare come before me. Vulpes Inculta, the best of my frumentarii, is dead. All the bribes I sent to the Omertas ended up buying me nothing. The Great Khans aren't exactly clamoring to fight for my Legion *now*. The garrison I established at Nelson has been wiped out. Years of meticulous scheming to place a mole at Camp McCarran - wasted. The Kings of Freeside are cooperating with the NCR now, which frees up soldiers to defend the dam. You even disrupted a promising weapons deal with the Van Graffs. So tell me this, because I *really* want to know: I am feared - with good reason - but *you* of all people dare to come before *me*, the mighty Caesar. What were you thinking?
Courier: [Terrifying Presence option] That I'd decorate this tent with your guts.
Quite frankly, I don't see my initial character taking the diplomatic approach when it comes to the Dales. I'd be interested in seeing how Josephine fares against Queen Anora, however. I imagine she could make a persuasive argument for the Inquisition to establish bases of operation in the kingdom.
Off-topic, my thanks to Elu, Xil, Sasha, Maria and Lobsel for the conversation on the last pages. I was a bit pissed for personal reasons, but your convo manages to make me laugh

If you want the elves to get a homeland, I think the diplomatic road will be the route to go. I don't see how using your army or spies will end well with that.

True. I think Josephine would be the best option in dealing with the homeland. However, you use Cullen to fight the inevitable armies that will come for you, Leliana to fight the spies/bards that Celene and Gaspard will undoubtedly send.
I'm pretty sure Josephine will be pro Celene, even though, given the chance I might take Gaspards side.

As long as we get to option to off them both, I will be happy. I want to do an anarchist run. ![]()

After Halamshiral, I don't picture my character wanting to negotiate with Celene, nor do I think either Orlesian political party would honor the elves reclaiming control of the Dales. It would have about as much success as the Magi Boon did. I have about as much trust in Celene as Briala did, while Gaspard's imperialistic notions aren't worth consideration, especially considering the harm it would cause Ferelden.
On that note, given Anora's plans to build a university and refill the royal coffers, I could see her negotiating some interesting choices with Josephine for a mutually beneficial arrangement.
I just found a dress that is so Josephine's style.

If you use your military might or your spies to coerce Orlais into doing it, all that will do is build resentment both towards our organization as well as the elves homeland. So if we ask for something they'll be like "Why don't you ask your friends the Dales" even though they know the Dales are in no position to help, and probably the moment we are gone far enough from the Dales they'll just take it back.
Meanwhile if you use diplomacy as the main drive, you can help convince Orlais that say having the Dales as a neighboring nation or even just a protectorate of the Orlesian Empire would benefit them as much as the elves since it provides a source of trade and thus increased wealth which will be needed to rebuild Orlais after the Civil War.
As for Anora(yay we are going to see her again!), I wonder if she and Josephine know each other. I could see them as being friends.

Something like that could be her alternative outfit in the Advisor Alternate Appearance Pack DLC that was discussed earlier. ![]()

Yes that would be nice. Also I just looked at my post and It looks like I posted the dress from Anastasia
Oh! Anora and Josephine! Interesting. I wonder if they indeed know each other.
They probably do. In fact, I bet Josephine will be the one to introduce us to all the high positioned people she met while an ambassador.
As for Anora, like I said I can see them as being particularly close. Both were in the international scene at the same time, both prefer diplomacy over other means, and who knows what else they have in common that led them to building a friendship.

Interesting. I'd imagine Viv can help with the Orlesian side of politics, while Josephine helps with the other international relations. I wonder if Josie is the one that sends us to make nice with Ferelden. I'd love for her to come with us on that mission. They probably do. I hope Josie and Anora do get along, my canon warden is married to Anora after all.

What would I ask for? They need me to stop the Breach, and I don't necessarily need them, especially if I've established a strong military presence in Ferelden, and a pan-elven militia in a free Dales. It might be possible to even ignore them entirely. A military victory in the Dales is certainly going to perturb Celene and Gaspard, but I can see the news being taken positively by Ferelden, considering the century they spent under Orlesian occupation. I think Ferelden would be more amicable about the news of an Orlesian defeat, and I'd like to see Josephine establishing an alliance between an independent Dales and Ferelden.
The Dales also seems to neighbor the land of the Frostback Mountains that reaches the entry to Orzammar, the source of virtually all lyrium trade on the surface; pull a Paul Muad'Dib and use the lyrium trade to sway the balance of power.

Where the Dales would need to acquiesce to some of the demands of Celene or Gaspard, and as a protectorate, it would rely too much on Orlais, leaving it vulnerable to be reclaimed when someone like Gaspard assumes the throne. I'd rather help the Dales become a strong, independent nation, rather than one that is subservient to the Orlesian Empire. If the Orlesian factions were so weak that a diplomatic situation could be to the advantage of the elves, then that would be another matter (and perhaps it's the path available with Briala's faction).
Admittedly, I'm invested in the idea of the elves having a victory, after previous historical defeats and purges. An autonomous Dales with elves trying to establish a nation together, a kingdom with colorful Orlesian elves, devout Anders elves, death-dealing Antivan elves, stoic Qunari elves, former Circle mages, and the Dalish elves working in unison for a better tomorrow for the Elvhen.
As for Anora(yay we are going to see her again!), I wonder if she and Josephine know each other. I could see them as being friends.
If Josephine has been acting in a diplomatic fashion, it could be possible, since Anora was ruling the nation in Cailan's name for years before his death. I'd like to hear about some of Anora's reforms being fruitful, like the university.

Oh dear. I would hate to think of Anora and Josie as friends. Anora is a control freak who sacrificed her own father for her ambitions. I hope Josie is not that cold hearted.

Her father was wrong, but Anora didn't want him to die; she preferred if Loghain could be stopped and neutralized, but she still loved him very much. As a Warden, he recruits other members into the order, and Loghain admits he believes his daughter had a hand in that.

That would be neat indeed. And the more missions she comes on the better. ![]()

We remember Anora very differently. The only time she 'sacrificed' her father was his claim to the throne. And to be fair, he had locked her up in Howe's estate for who knows how long so she wouldn't interfere with his ambitions. Everything else about her Father she was on his side for. Making excuses for his actions, pleading us to spare him, etc.
They probably do. In fact, I bet Josephine will be the one to introduce us to all the high positioned people she met while an ambassador.

I'm not so sure. It's possible they might have heard of eachother, maybe even corresponded. But I don't think they hung around in the same circles. Anora is a native Ferelden, and as far as we know have never actually left her country. Jospehine, meanwhile, is Antivan who at least at some point ran into and befriended Leliana, a bard from Orlais. There's nothing in here that even says that Josephine and Anora know eachother. Josephine obviously would know who Anora is, but I have my doubts that Anora knows her.
It would be cool, there's just no evidence beyond the fact that they are both involved in international politics at a high level.

The game takes place in Orlais. You're going to need their blessing while you are in that empire. Plus also gameplay-wise I think we're going to have to deal with them at least somewhat to proceed the main quest. Not to mention their civil war and the elves are closely connected due to Briala. I would love Josephine doing that with the Dales-Ferelden alliance though.
Using the lyrium trade to influence them would also be under Josephine's jurisdiction. She is in charge of politics and trade.
I'd rather they be an independent nation as well, but I'd be fine with the protectorate as a stepping stone to that under Celene since she wanted better treatment of elves anyway before the whole civil war started. Plus it can be a demand from the Inquisitor in exchange for siding with her.
As for Anora, yes I would like to see her reforms succeed.
