I'm not so sure. It's possible they might have heard of eachother, maybe even corresponded. But I don't think they hung around in the same circles. Anora is a native Ferelden, and as far as we know have never actually left her country. Jospehine, meanwhile, is Antivan who at least at some point ran into and befriended Leliana, a bard from Orlais. There's nothing in here that even says that Josephine and Anora know eachother. Josephine obviously would know who Anora is, but I have my doubts that Anora knows her.

It would be cool, there's just no evidence beyond the fact that they are both involved in international politics at a high level.

Well, Josephine did serve Antiva as an ambassador, so that would require traveling to the different nations. She at least went to Orlais, since Leliana had never left that country before being betrayed by Marjolaine and running to Lothering. And Orlais is right next door to Ferelden. Even closer to Antiva really since they can reach each other by sea.

We know there is no evidence, but we're just saying it would be neat.

The game takes place in Orlais. You're going to need their blessing while you are in that empire. Plus also gameplay-wise I think we're going to have to deal with them at least somewhat to proceed the main quest. Not to mention their civil war and the elves are closely connected due to Briala. I would love Josephine doing that with the Dales-Ferelden alliance though.

Briala could be the third option, given her desire for a pan-elven network of Andrastian and Dalish elves working to help all the elves, and her intent to use the civil war to their advantage.

Using the lyrium trade to influence them would also be under Josephine's jurisdiction. She is in charge of politics and trade.

I was thinking of a far more reaching use of the substance in lyrium being a source of trade that would benefit the Inquisition and the Dales, especially once the protagonist makes a decision in siding with either the mages or the templars, and bringing that respective faction into the Inquisition as a militant arm. This is where Josephine would come in.

I'd rather they be an independent nation as well, but I'd be fine with the protectorate as a stepping stone to that under Celene since she wanted better treatment of elves anyway before the whole civil war started. Plus it can be a demand from the Inquisitor in exchange for siding with her.

Maybe it'll depend on whether or not the protagonist has taken points in the area that the developers mentioned, the one where the player would better navigate the ruling class if it was chosen.

As for Anora, yes I would like to see her reforms succeed.

She has some rather ambitious reforms. It would be nice to see other dimensions to her character as well. Anora isn't given the same time as Alistair, so people don't really get to know her as well as the latter. She's just as well as Alistair to help improve the lot of the mages (as Wynne comments on), and she does try to improve conditions for the elves initially (but Alistair is willing to court controversy to take the extra step), so I hope it's an opportunity to get to know her better.

Where does Wynne say anything about Anora? *ears perk up*

There is no way Briala will be a third option for ending the Orlesian Civil War. The war ends when someone is on the throne and I bet our choices will be Celene or Gaspard.

I know what you meant. I was just pointing out it would work well in dealing with Orlais too.

I agree. While I liked seeing King Alistair in DA2, I think Anora should have been there either if she and the Warden are married or if she rules alone. Hopefully if she and Alistair are married in DAI, both will show up and she won't be overwritten completely by Alistair.

Well, we know she shows up cause her VA has said she is recording in DAI. I'd imagine that we will see both her and Alistair in Denerim.

But if Briala and her network are using the civil war to their advantage, I could see her path as an additional option, weakening both sides to the point where the elves will have the advantage. It's logical to me. I have a hard time buying the idea that the developers restricted the player to Dalish (with the elven option) if the storyline was going to railroad the main character into siding with Celene or Gaspard otherwise, which would make much more sense with an Andrastian elf who doesn't necessarily have the same baggage against Orlais (and their symbiotic partner the Chantry) as the Dalish have.

I would've enjoyed seeing Anora verbally eviscerate Meredith.

It's possible Leliana met Josephine after she started serving the Divine. Ten years is plenty of time to form a friendship and call it old. But yeah, Josie definitely travelled to Orlais since we know she is well acquainted with the Game.

I agree, I hated how they completely shadowed Anora with Alistair even if they're married. In my opinion Anora is strong and determined and successful, and I do hope I get to see Josephine and Anora work together.

Well, I think that the Orlesian Civil War and the Elf questlines while connected will be independent. So regardless on who you put on the throne, you'll still be able to determine the elves fate while regardless of what you do with the elves you'll be able to put Celene or Gaspard on the throne.

Yep.

I can see Josephine getting acquainted and possibly beginning a friendship with Alistair and/or Anora when she goes to meet the new ruler/s after the events of DAO.

They'd better not be too friendly. tomates.gif

Anora has never shown any inclination of being attracted to women, if that is what you are referring to.

Tss, your logic has no effect on a mind coloured by jealousy. ;)

(and I really wanted to use that tomato throwing Frenchie emote. It's so awesome!)

I despised Anora.  I never gave her power in any of my playthroughs.  I never spared her father's life either.

Isn't that (non-Warden romanced) Leliana's line? ;)

Just occurred to me another reason why Josephine is perfect for me. She's excellent at politics, but I hate them. Even then I still need to be informed about politics to make proper decisions and have a proper perspective of things, and there's nothing better than having someone who's a renown politician and ambassador who I can fully trust to help me see things in a correct manner, even if I might disagree with her in a few things.

A classic 'lady and knight' romance for you then? ;)

I'll play a rogue, so for me it's going to be more 'scoundrel and proper lady'. That works too. :D

If Cassandra is race-gated against Elves, it's Josephine all the way for me (assuming Josephine isn't race-gated against Elves, that is). If both of them are on the table, it'll come down to which of them my Inquisitor likes more. And considering what Josephine brings to the table (and that Cassandra is literally the Divine's right hand, and my elf doesn't like the Chantry), Josephine is the front-runner in that race.

Cassandra won't be race-gated, neither will Josie  :)

Josephine is not race-gated. She is available to men and women of any race.

Josephine's writer said anyone can romance her, so she doesn't appear to be gated. Sylvia Feketekuty said, "It was also fun to write a romance again. And because I know people will ask: You can try to win Josephine’s heart as any race or gender. I think we ended up with some fun moments whether you’re trying to romance her or just be her friend, but there’s one particular scene that I love."
