As for you being a fling, the reason I doubt it is because of the understandable outrage that Bioware got for the Jacob romance. If dumping you for another person was bad, I can only imagine how bad you just being a fling while they are with someone else would be.

In regards to romance, BioWare's writers have shown a continued willingness to deny the player a happy ending. People being outraged over Jacob leaving them will not make a single shred of difference. People were outraged over Alistiar and Morrigan as well, but David mostly laughs that off.

We are going to have eight romances. These romances will play out differently. There is no way they will all have happy endings. We might even see the end of the Leliana romance with her dying or falling for someone else.

Josephine can love you, care for you, and then leave you at the end.

If that makes you sad or angry, that's the point.

Very good point. I could see either Josephine or Cassandra going the "Consummate Professional" route and choosing devotion to their profession over a potentially derailing romantic relationship, as an example (not saying whether or not I agree with the implications of that particular characterization device, just saying it might happen), or someone like Blackwall could have the potential for tragedy due to living with the burden of The Calling.

But ultimately, I feel like part of the point of falling for someone is that blinders go up, and those potential hurdles don't really even factor into your judgment until you slam into them. In that regard, it would feel realistic to have at least some of the potential romances not quite end on an "idealized" note, depending on how strongly Bioware wants art to imitate life here.

Whoops hahaha. Honestly, I'm a sap and I'd love for the majority of the potential romances to end happily-- after going through the hell that the main quest will likely offer, I'd say our heroes and heroines will deserve some happy payoff for it.

I'm just preparing myself in the event of bittersweetness occurring. Whether or not that'll matter once I'm in the thick of the game remains to be seen, though.

I would enjoy a bittersweet romance.

Then again, I would enjoy a vanilla romance or a tumultuous one.

I hope we get a happy ending with Josephine and the other LIs this time.

The only unavoidable unhappy ending to a romance we've had in DA was "fixed" in DLC.

Not counting the disappearing Warden thing because that's not really a romance thing.

Remember that time Anders lost his mind, blew up the chantry, and either died at your hands or had to go on the run?

Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Being that Morrigan is still probably my favorite romance arc in Bioware games (and was so even pre-Witch Hunt), I wouldn't be too unhappy with a bittersweet ending to Josephine's romance. Also liked Viconia, and that ended in quite the downer.

Well, of 8 romances some are bound to have a rocky road or even a sad ending. For those, I believe this song is appropriate:

I just had a horrible thought. (I'm not the first)

Josephine is the eldest daughter of a merchant prince. She understands the importance of making and maintaining alliances. What if she's married? What if she sees us as just a fling? My heart would break so hard.

I doubt it. The Inquistor as the head of a new powerful organization sounds like the perfect political marriage.

Provided it's a male and a human. I don't think marrying a Vashoth, Elf or Dwarf would go down well in most courts. Then again, being the mistress of a powerful leader also has clout. Madame Du Barry was living proof.

Yeah, they let the Warden be Alistair's mistress in DA:O so I wouldn't lose faith yet.

Oh, I'm not losing faith. I'm just filling the silence until we get more info/the game. I want to get my virtual smooching on!

Nothing happened yet with Alistair or Morrigan. As for all well know, they still love the Warden.

Didn't they say Morrigan's personality would be more open if she was befriended/romanced?

That's not a bad idea.

I'd express displeasure and probably whine, but it could still be a good romance plot.

In vanilla DA:O, Alistiar can dump you and Morrigan always dumps you. The discussion was to whether they'd do that sort of situation with Josephine.

They let you hook up with Morrigan again in the Witch Hunt DLC, but that was after months of people being angry and David going 'Deal with it.'

I'm still upset Morrigan survived her gutting :/ She runs out on me with a kid before the last battle of the Blight because i wouldn't indulge her fantasy and then she has the gall to act like she didn't betray me?! -_-

it'd be kind of awkward since the inquisition is an an organization and not a nation, so unless we are marrying Celene/Gaspard or some other ruler I don't see it working that way

IIRC, Josephine's family is that of wealthy merchants who've gained political power, not traditional nobility. Marrying the head of an orginization with economic and military power would seem to be a good fit.
