Just keep in mind that it's not the correct way to write it.
In common speech it does happen that one doesn't pronounce the first "a" clearly and you hear something like "boccallupo", though. ^^

It can actually be taken two ways. The first is what you (and others) envision being that Josephine will not have a nickname. The second (and more likely) is that it's hard not to be given an "endearing nickname" from Varric.
