From the surface - sure. But now that I've thought about it... it's entirely illogical. It's not like I am going to cancel my pre-order or go on a twitter tirade and verbally abuse every dev I know of but... I am just a bit irked by it, is all. I do notice it.

My point was more that analyzing it from the context of how the accents developed on Earth may not bear much, if any, fruit.  As for Orlesian being "French," wouldn't that be somewhat equivalent to Ferelden being "English?"  Do you think it would work as well for a player that played the game natively in French (a language we support both for text and audio)?

I think it does bear fruit. Mainly because of how mouths work and our physiology is pretty much the same... unless you can say there are a number of Antivan dialects and three of those are English, Spanish and Italian-sounding. I can then go, "eh that is kind of nonsensical but whatevs i'm down."

And yes, yes.... those both have the same accents. So Origins had Antiva with mainly Spanish (Ignacio is still up for discussion) why are we suddenly having Italians when we've heard in the past that they're Spanish accented? Also pretty sure I remember it being confirmed that they have spanish accents.

Sure, some of the names are Italian and it's based off of old Italian culture but... CONSISTENCY!

EDITEDITIEH this is OT so let's move back on topic because lol I got last word in SHHHHHH

*points to the Dalish when talking about a change of accents between games*

We've heard in the past that some Antivans had Spanish accents. No one over said all of them have Spanish accents. In fact, I believe it's been pretty clear that Antivans can have Italian accents as well.

Meh, I'm not too bothered by the accent bit. Just roll with it and enjoy the game.

Could it be possible that once upon a time, a long time ago, Antiva was actually two nations? One nation had a Spanish-y language, and the other had an Italian-y language. Then one day, one country (probably the Spanish-y one) conquered the other and together they became the Antiva we know now. The country has two languages, therefore two accents? (Or perhaps a large number of people immigrated from a nation that spoke an Italian-y language, and now there's a large minority with both Italian-y names and Italian-y accents.)

I'm not an expert in Thedas lore (in fact, I'd say I'm pretty ignorant), so maybe I'm completely off... But there are many nations on Earth where there are multiple languages spoken, and therefore many different accents and variations of accents. It really isn't all that much of a stretch.

(Yeah, I saw your comment about it being OT, sorry.)

This. Regional accents can be pretty different. I work with a lot of French people form both the north and the south of France, and their accents are pretty different. Come to think of it, There is practically a science dedicated to the differences between English accents.

On topic:

Zevran obviously speaks with a commoner's accent and Josephine has an upper class accent. Problem solved!

Dialect versus accent. Different things. All about the mouth.

Okay, that I can be down with. Josephine is from a certain part of Antiva that speaks a different.. whatever she has an Italian accent. It might not be technically correct but ok let's not even discuss it 'cause we don't question it!

If someone was there to get it on film I'm sure they would have pulled the cushion out to make sure their cat wasn't stuck so I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. Someone was with that kitty I'm sure it's fine :)

There are open spaces behind some couches, years ago my friends cat got in under the cushions of his couch and he had to cut open behind it to get the cat out.  Was kind of funny thinking back, we could hear the cat meow but had no idea where it was took about 30 minutes til we seen the bulge in the back of the couch.

You know, that would make a lot of sense. Who better to accompany the Inquisitor to a party with influential people than Josephine?

Oh, Josie is the best choice without question. The real question is who would be the worst choice.

Leliana: So, who else are you planning to bring to this party, besides Lady Josephine of course?

Crazyquisitor: What? I wasn't planning on bringing Lady Josephine.

Leliana: What? But she is obviously the best suited to the task! ... Who are you bringing?

Crazyquisitor: I was thinking of bringing Sera and Solas, actually. And Iron Bull if things go south.

Leliana: That... is a terrible idea. The place will be swarming with petty nobles who take offense at the slightest thing.

Crazyquisitor: Exactly! We'll have them wrong footed and that gives us the upper hand! Aha!

Leliana: *takes out sap* I'm afraid I'm going to have to overrule you on this one. *knock out*

Josephine: Shall I send word that the Inquisitor is indisposed and will not be able to attend the party?

Leliana: That would be best.

Josephine is going to be awesome with such a lovely voice and certainly more enjoyable as a character with such a cool, adorable and passionate actor behind. :)

Loved the demos and the video where Captain Allengra sings. Now, I'm going to seek actively in the dialogue wheel the option which allows me to ask a song to Josephine in DA:I.  ;)

I do agree with Lucius Glitterius that as the conflicting accents of Antiva are a little... off, to me.

Nations can have several different regional accents. The devs could get away with having an Italian accent be a regional thing in Antiva, with Spanish (which we've heard more often) be more widespread.

 On the other hand, the 'worst choice' could lead to the board adopting a Josephine facepalm gif once she hears about the Infamous Amigos crashing the party.

I think there is no logic when it comes to accents in DA, I never quite get why Rivaini people have English ones for example. Even in Spain you have totally different accents from different languages, not everyone speaks castellano. I would say that it would make a lot more sense to put Portuguese and Spanish languages together for their similarities and not Italian. I really think Rivaini would be better for Italian accents.

For one I am not that offended with the "latino" country but it sure makes zero sense and sometimes it sounds really bad in game lol

The accents don't always have to make sense for me. It's not easy to pick good actors with a specific accent every single time for all the characters from a specific nation, reasons out of story must be taken into account. Personally I take it as a nice bonus and don't bother. In my native language, we don't even have accents. When people said that Merril was lovely because of her irish accent, that was the first time I learned, surprised, that there were accents in dragon age.

I agree. I'm glad the character I'm most passionate about this game is portrayed by a Voice Actress just as passionate about the series.

You know, I remember Greg Ellis bringing up that he sang while recording for Cullen. So I guess it is possible Josephine will too.
