The initiation of the romance would also include a Conditions & Terms form that would have to be signed by any and all involved parties.

Josephine will reprimand the Inquisitor if they don't adhere to her contract.
Sleazequisitor time!
Sleazequisitor : Ah, Lady Montilyet! How delightful to see you!
Josie: Likewise, Inquisitor. Did you need something?
Sleazequisitor : Yes. I needed to see you. I am happily fulfilled now.
Cassandra: Oh for...
Josie: *giggle* How you do go on. I suspect you are trying to manipulate me into something. *teasing*
Sleazequisitor : My dear Lady! The only kind of manipulation I intend involves my hands.
Cassandra: Argh, must you always act like a drunken fool when she is around?
Sleazequisitor : How can I do otherwise? Her presence is... intoxicating.
Josie: *giggle*
Leliana: *cringe*
Cassandra: *groan*
Sera: *snort*
OH GOD YOU GUYS PUT THESE THOUGHTS IN MY HEAD I HATE YA'LL
Varric: Are those bite marks on your neck?
Inquisitor: (has big grin on face) I love it when we return to Skyhold.
Varric: Not as happy as Scribbles is apparently.
Great, now I'll be kind of disappointed if this dialog isn't in there. Well done. ![]()
I wonder if she had to deal with crows? Either she used them or where used against her? We know just how deep in politics the crows are in Antiva.
Oh, I'm almost certain that her family has at least used the Crows or had the Crows used on them. The Merchant Prince families are pretty much like the mafia.
Well, she's alive, so no one's taken out a contract on her.
Not necessarily. It could just be that they failed. There's been quite a few hints in both Origins and DA2 that the Crows are not quite as good as they are believed to be. Also, I have no doubt that Josephine is the type of person who could talk an assassin out of killing her. ![]()
Well, she's alive, so no one's taken out a contract on her. She strikes me as the type who would be loath to hire assassins. "Hiring someone to kill your enemies is how everything is resolved in Antiva. I prefer a different approach."
Yeah, Allegra Clark said that Josephine has a lot of integrity in a tweet, so I think she doesn't approve the use of assassins. Or maybe just against really bad people when diplomacy fails.

It could be that Josephine has Vetinari Job Security. She is one of the best diplomats in the world (or so her bio implies) and she is just too useful to be removed.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone has used the Crows against them but aren't they a noble family and not a merchant family or did I miss some info? I'm also not really sure we have enough info yet to assume they are basically like the mafia.

I'm thinking of pairing her with a qunari rogue. More sociable and clever than her appearance would suggest. You don't get the good jobs without knowing how to appease the powerful. Except now her ambitions are larger than that of running her own mercenary company. She can be noble, or the next thing to it. So much to learn, so many plans to make.

MMh, maybe not all of them. Merchant princes in real life were just merchants who made a lot of money and exercised influence because of that wealth. The Medicis for example started from simple cloth merchants, then became bankers, then de facto rulers of Florence. Any shady business came after their rise to power (as a necessity, most likely). Mafia families usually go the other way around: make money from criminal activities then put up a respectable front to wield power.
The house of Crows is a good example of a mafia like organization. Other merchant houses could have less unsavory histories. I'm guessing Josephine's family might be one of those more 'respectable' houses. Speaking of which, what kind of trade do you think Josephine's family is into? Textile? Wine? Coffee? Lumber? I could see Josephine being from a family of silk or lace traders. For some reason...
*sigh* Well, my plans for the Inquisitors who will romance her were shot to oblivion. ![]()
